Treasure Detector
by spirapiraBoom!
A deafening sound echoed through the silent night, spreading far and wide.
Su Nan, with a calm expression, watched the dust rising hundreds of meters away. He was petting a cat while patiently waiting.
Before long, shouts and screams of killing came from the direction of the manor.
Just by the sound, Su Nan could imagine the bewildered faces of the Starfire Cult members rushing to the gate, only to find the surroundings empty, and the invisible bloody attacks suddenly erupting around them in fear and confusion.
Unless a Grand Knight-level priest or higher cadre intervenes, ordinary Starfire Cultists are just lambs to slaughter for Hidden Dragon.
They wouldn’t even know where the attack came from until death descended upon them.
The slaughter lasted for about four to five minutes, then the invisible Hidden Dragon charged out of the manor, sprinting away into the distance.
Behind it, three figures pursued relentlessly.
One of them had an incredibly intimidating aura, with a sprint speed faster than Hidden Dragon.
“A high-level Grand Knight? It’s probably the priest managing this stronghold.”
“The other two are also Grand Knights, likely the priests.”
The Starfire Cult’s stronghold in Stone Bell City was managed by one priest and eight other priests.
Two priests died in Blackstone City.
Two priests died in last night’s battle.
That means there should be at most two priests left in the manor at this moment.
“Meow, will Little Yin be okay?” Amy asked worriedly.
Who knows when she started calling the Hidden Dragon by this name.
“Don’t worry, it won’t be a problem,” Su Nan reassured.
Hidden Dragon’s ability to switch between reality and illusion gave it a significant advantage in the complex urban environment. If it were determined to escape, even a high-level Grand Knight would be unable to catch up; they would only be led in circles, running further and further away.
After patiently waiting a while, estimating that the three had run far, Su Nan appeared and headed towards the manor.
He was not good at infiltration.
After all, he did not have suitable spells or magical items at hand.
But he didn’t need to infiltrate.
At this point, the remaining defensive forces in the manor posed no threat to him.
The most important thing was to quickly deal with any obstacles and seek out the target of his mission.
In the chaotic courtyard, a group of Starfire Cultists were busy treating the wounded. They were surprised to see a man and a cat casually walking in.
Coming back to their senses, one of them immediately realized something was wrong, raised a weapon, and shouted sharply, “Who are you…”
Crackle!
Before the words were finished, a bolt of lightning struck him, turning him to charcoal!
Then more lightning and flames exploded violently, sweeping through the entire courtyard!
No Grand Knights were present among the Starfire Cultists, so Su Nan, controlling the energy particles, easily took care of everyone.
“Where’s the item you’re looking for?”
Su Nan looked at Amy perched on his shoulder.
The little one lifted its head, tilted its head to sense, and pointed ahead, “In that direction! The energy particle concentration is very high there!”
Without another word, Su Nan rushed forward.
Along the way, more Starfire Cultists, hearing the commotion, leapt out to stop him, but were casually slain, unable to even delay his steps.
The manor wasn’t large, and in just four or five minutes, Su Nan reached the place Amy indicated with thick energy particles.
In front of him was a tightly closed iron door.
An acid shot splashed onto the door, corroding a large hole through which Su Nan bent and stepped through the doorway, descending the stairs.
What appeared was a spacious basement.
Luminous pearls embedded around the ceiling emitted a soft white light, illuminating the entire basement as if it were broad daylight.
Around the room were many wooden racks, filled with various items.
Most of them were books, about thirty or forty in total.
There were also some rings, necklaces, bracelets, and a considerable number of cloaks, swords, and so on.
Su Nan’s eyes lit up, and he immediately walked to the rack full of books, glancing over them.
“Philosophy of Magic,” “Treatise on Extra-Planar Biology,” “Burning Hands,” “Magic Alarm,” “Magic Missile,” “Ray of Enfeeblement,” “Basics of Artifice,” “Comprehensive Guide to Low-Level Magic Items,” “Design and Manufacture of Mana Crystal Forging Furnace,” “Arcane Core.”
The dazzling array of books filled Su Nan with joy.
Among these books, there were seven or eight first-circle spell model books, and even one second-circle spell model book.
The remaining books also contained a lot of very practical knowledge.
For example, “Basics of Artifice,” which could accelerate his learning progress of [Artificing].
“Comprehensive Guide to Low-Level Magic Items” could provide blueprints for manufacturing magic items in the future.
“Design and Manufacture of Mana Crystal Forging Furnace,” as the name implies, was a blueprint for manufacturing an Arcane Crystal Forge.
The furnace in Su Nan’s laboratory was just a basic furnace, and if he could create a mana crystal forging furnace, the cost of refining the Blackrock Panther would certainly be greatly reduced, laying the foundation for refining higher-grade puppets.
“But I’ve never heard of the Arcane Core. Is it a magic item?”
Su Nan shook his head. Now was not the time to ponder this; the immediate priority was to take everything away.
Without hesitation, he stored everything into the cube.
After thinking, he also pried the luminous pearls from the ceiling and stored them away before looking at Amy.
“Is everything your master wanted here?”
Amy nodded vigorously, “It’s all here.”
“Good, then next we find the Divine Blood Amber.”
“No problem, meow, the Divine Blood Amber is over there.” Amy pointed towards the right.
Su Nan’s steps suddenly paused, looking at Amy in surprise.
“Can you sense the location of the Divine Blood Amber?”
“Meow, I’ve memorized the energy fluctuations of the Divine Blood Amber, it can’t be wrong.”
Amy tilted its head, wearing a puzzled expression as if this was entirely normal.
Su Nan was momentarily speechless.
He had thought Amy could only sense the concentration of energy particles, not realizing the little cat could truly sense the fundamental energy fluctuations!
The difference between the two is worlds apart.
The former can be achieved by a wizard (apprentice) with sufficiently high mental strength or by mastering detection magic and other spells, although the sensing distance may not be as far.
The latter could practically be used as a treasure-seeking detector.
By recording energy fluctuations, it could locate similarly (or nearly identical) high-energy items.
This utility in seeking treasures is incredibly practical!
Su Nan’s eyes towards Amy changed instantly, as if he was looking at some treasure.
He had initially contemplated taking Amy back to Blackstone City with him, and now he was even more resolved.
With Amy, his future endeavors in searching for magical items or exploring wizard inheritance would undoubtedly be much more convenient.
Amy was blissfully unaware that someone was now thinking of taking it away. Joyful from successfully reclaiming its master’s items, it was excitedly urging Su Nan to find the Divine Blood Amber.
Gathering his thoughts, Su Nan left the basement, bending to pass through the hole.
The moment his body passed through the hole, two gleaming longswords slashed from the left and right, targeting his neck and heart.
