Unable to respond to Su Nan’s teasing words, Owen instinctively took a step back and shouted in terror, “Someone, come quickly, there’s an assassin!”

The enemy had already entered the hall; even a fool would know that the guards must have been slaughtered. Crying out foolishly like that was truly shameful.

Owen realized this himself too, his face turning ashen and cold sweat dripping from his forehead.

Giller ignored the idiot, turned to Su Nan, and chuckled playfully:

“Su Nan Anes-t, I’ve heard of you, the legendary sorcerer.”

“His Excellency the Marquis praised you as a promising young man. How about considering serving the Marquis?”

“As long as you achieve enough merits, not just a barony but even a viscounty, His Excellency the Marquis can reward you with it!”

“Who are you?” Su Nan glanced at Giller.

“Giller Konos, envoy of Marquis Jin Yan.”

Giller slightly lifted his chin, a touch of arrogance in his tone.

“So, it’s just a dog of Marquis Jin Yan,” Su Nan shook his head.

Giller’s smile froze, his expression quickly turning sullen. He said coldly, “Young people shouldn’t be too arrogant. Just because you’ve become a sorcerer doesn’t mean you can look down on everyone. There are plenty of people stronger than you in this world.”

Su Nan smiled sarcastically, “So what?”

Seeing Su Nan’s demeanor of not taking him seriously from start to finish, Giller was finally thoroughly enraged, his face becoming extremely cold and stern.

“It seems you’re just a fool who can’t see the bigger picture. I overestimated you. A person like you doesn’t deserve to serve the Marquis.”

“Fine, since you’re here, don’t leave—leave your life here.”

The last sentence was directed to the cloaked man beside him.

Hoch nodded, tore away his cloak, revealing a weathered face of about forty years old, a silvery bright scale armor, and a refined steel longsword.

“I’ve heard many legends about sorcerers, but today is the first time I’ve encountered one. I hope you won’t disappoint me.”

With his eyes shining, Hoch stared intently at Su Nan, a high-spirited battle intent flashing in his eyes.

Before Su Nan could respond, Hoch swung his sword fiercely forward.

With a piercing sonic boom, a crimson flame sword energy formed out of thin air along the path of the blade, slashing through the void towards Su Nan.

“Elemental power!”

Su Nan’s eyes narrowed; without dodging, an invisible shield moved in front of him, blocking the flame sword energy.

Undeterred by missing his strike, Hoch lunged forward, launching a lightning-fast assault on Su Nan.

Su Nan cast a flicker of lightning to briefly hinder Hoch and quickly retreated, exiting the hall in no time.

Owen stood dumbfounded with a look of astonishment as he watched the two of them rush out of the hall one after the other.

“Elemental power. Sir Hoch is a legendary knight!”

Giller said smugly, “I told you, with Sir Hoch here, there’s nothing to worry about.”

Recovering from his shock, Owen felt an overwhelming joy, as if he had ascended from hell to heaven.

A legendary knight is the pinnacle of power in the duchy!

One legendary knight can single-handedly take on dozens of great knights!

With a legendary knight present, what is there to fear?

The panic and fear in Owen’s heart vanished completely, replaced by an extremely excited expression.

The two of them immediately walked out of the hall into the courtyard.

The previously serene and elegant courtyard was now in complete disarray, littered with broken wood and rubble everywhere.

Hoch wielded a longsword burning with fierce flames, launching relentless attacks on Su Nan.
