Visiting The Base
by spirapiraShimmering City, in the backyard of the tavern.
Shouts echoed one after another, creating a noisy scene.
“Move quickly, unload everything.”
“Be careful, if you break anything, I’ll dock your pay!”
“Separate the marked items. I’ll personally take them out of the city later.”
Mu Zhuo loudly directed his subordinates, occasionally shouting reprimands.
With his status, he didn’t need to personally accompany the convoy for deliveries.
However, to demonstrate his regard for the Shimmering Domain, he would personally lead the team every time.
Recalling the scene of initially meeting Su Nan in the tavern, Mu Zhuo couldn’t help but sigh.
Back then, although he noticed Su Nan was destined for greatness, he didn’t expect Su Nan’s performance to be so astonishing and impressive.
As a notable merchant of the Brambleflower Duchy, he had his own information channels and knew well how crucial Su Nan was in reclaiming the Shimmering Domain.
It could be said, without Su Nan, Blackstone City would have crumbled after the assassination attempt, let alone succeeded.
Su Nan almost single-handedly reversed the power dynamics!
Mu Zhuo, though knowledgeable about the secrets of wizard apprentices, was surprised to learn just how formidable they were.
For someone with such a promising future, he naturally wanted to forge good relations.
Moreover, Su Nan had collaborations with the Commerce Association, with potions bringing considerable profits.
After unloading goods, Mu Zhuo entrusted other matters to his deputy and personally led the people and goods towards the base outside the city.
Outta stayed by Mu Zhuo’s side at all times, riding the same carriage.
Getting into the carriage, lowering the curtain, Mu Zhuo casually asked: “Any news from Frost Province yet?”
Outta shook his head gravely, replying: “No, I’ve sent several letters, but the clansmen there haven’t responded.”
“How odd, the were-beasts in Frost Province were living well, why would they spread the were-beast curse?” Mu Zhuo mused while stroking his chin.
Outta replied dully: “It shouldn’t be them; only the original were-beasts can spread the curse. We descendants can’t. There might be more behind this.”
Mu Zhuo neither agreed nor disagreed, contemplating before saying: “After this delivery, go investigate Frost Province. If the situation is dire, the guild may need to consider withdrawing their industries from there.”
“Understood.” Outta nodded solemnly.
The two fell silent, and the carriage soon became quiet.
Suddenly, there was commotion outside.
Curious, Mu Zhuo lifted the curtain to see three pitch-black panthers running down the street, catching the attention of passersby.
Blackrock Panthers!
Mu Zhuo immediately recognized their origins.
Since the battle of Blackstone City, the Blackrock Cavalry’s reputation had spread throughout the Golden Rock Province.
Many knew this cavalry had powerful mounts called Blackrock Panthers, each with knight-level combat power, fearless and superior to the best warhorses.
The fame of the Blackrock Cavalry largely stemmed from these panthers.
Many noble lords coveted them.
Mu Zhuo once tested Ke Yi’s intentions for purchasing Blackrock Panthers but was decisively refused.
What surprised Mu Zhuo now, however, were the three children riding the panthers.
Two boys and a girl, around thirteen to fourteen years old.
“Who are these three?” Mu Zhuo wondered.
Their age made them unlikely members of the Blackrock Cavalry, yet they used the panthers as mounts, indicating a high status in Shimmering City.
Suddenly, Mu Zhuo recalled hearing that Su Nan took on three apprentices at the beginning of the year. Could these be the three youngsters?
Whoosh!
The wind howled past, and the scenery rapidly retreated.
Shieman was exhilarated riding the Blackrock Panther, experiencing his first wild ride, feeling his blood boil.
Similarly, Kelei couldn’t hide his excitement, his eyes shining.
Only Adil’s face turned pale, unused to the speed.
Soon, the three reached the base.
“Is this the base Teacher mentioned?”
Shieman curiously surveyed the towering stone walls and the tightly closed gate.
Upon closer inspection, they could see faint, mysterious patterns on the surface of the stone wall.
He vaguely recalled seeing such patterns in books, appearing to be an enchantment rune to strengthen hardness.
Boom!
The tightly closed gate suddenly opened, and a familiar figure rushed out, landing before them almost as if by teleportation.
It was Aimie.
“Meow, you’ve finally arrived, I’ve been waiting for you.”
Aimie waved at the three of them.
“Come quickly, Su Nan is busy, I’ll show you around the base to get familiar with it.”
Under Aimie’s guidance, Shieman and the others entered the base, somewhat restrained.
Once through the gate, they noticed two enormous rock creatures standing guard.
“Stone Golems!” Adil exclaimed.
She had seen illustrations in books but was seeing the real thing for the first time.
Shieman and Kelei also looked wide-eyed at the stone golems, eyes full of curiosity.
“These are the base’s guards, meow.” Aimie explained.
As they spoke, a team of clay golems approached from afar, seemingly heading outside.
Aimie glanced back and said: “A caravan is delivering goods, they’re going to transport them. Let’s move on.”
With that, she hopped forward, and the three hurried to keep pace.
Aimie was dutiful, explaining the purpose of each area they visited.
“This is the Meditation Zone; you can meditate here later, just choose any empty room available.”
“This is the Spell Training Zone, see those humanoid targets? Once you learn spells, you can practice here.”
“This is the Experiment Zone for conducting experiments.”
“This is the Residential Zone, your future living area.”
“This is the Medicine Making Zone.”
The base was unimaginably vast.
As they walked, the many facilities dazzled the three youngsters.
Unknowingly, they reached the Puppet Factory.
Shieman immediately noticed the massive iron structure standing in the corner and stared wide-eyed.
“What is that?”
Aimie glanced at it and said: “That’s the Iron Golem.”
“So that’s what an Iron Golem is.”
The books Shieman and the others read only described lower-level golems, with mere mentions of Iron Golems, without detailed explanations.
Seeing it in reality, they were utterly shocked.
It’s huge!
“Lord Aimie, are Iron Golems much stronger than Stone Golems?” Kelei curiously asked.
“Of course, the combat power of Iron Golems is at a legendary knight level.”
Hearing Aimie’s answer, the three youngsters gasped in unison, revealing expressions of shock.
This giant was as powerful as a legendary knight!
They couldn’t help but gulp, looking at the Iron Golem with newfound reverence.
Their admiration for Su Nan deepened.
If their teacher could create an Iron Golem, just how powerful must he be?
