Chapter Index

After copying down the books from the Third-Year Reading Room and downloading all the teaching videos, Mo Lan returned to the Dormitory to study.

The Continental Travel Guidance Course had a total of twenty teaching videos, each three hours long.

Before watching the videos, though, she still needed to skim through the textbook to get a general understanding of the course content.

The textbook for the Continental Travel Guidance Course, 《A Guide to Traveling the Continent of Valen》, covered the customs, culture, and travel precautions for the major racial territories of the Continent of Valen.

It was a similar type of book to the second-year 《A Witch’s Guide to Living in the Wilds》.

However, since witches were the masters of the Wilds, and witch customs were the customs of the Wilds, 《A Witch’s Guide to Living in the Wilds》 focused more on geographical knowledge.

《A Guide to Traveling the Continent of Valen》, on the other hand, focused more on culture and people.

The first chapter of the textbook was a world map.

This was also the first time Mo Lan had seen such a detailed map of the world of Valen.

This world was far more vast than she had imagined.

The world of Valen was divided into the Main World and Sub-Worlds.

The Main World consisted of the Surface World and the Underground World.

Sorceresses, witches, angels, Dragons, humans, Elves, dwarves, orcs, and others were all representative races residing in the Surface World.

Seventy percent of the Surface World was land and thirty percent was ocean, of which only certain areas had been claimed by intelligent races.

The central and eastern coastal regions of the landmass belonged to humans, where human kingdoms stood in great numbers.

The southern Wilds belonged to witches and Sorceresses.

Heaven’s Peak, the tallest mountain range in the west, belonged to the angels.

The Elven Woods in the southeast belonged to the Elves.

The Durin Volcanic Cluster in the northwest belonged to the Dwarven Kingdom.

The northern grasslands belonged to the Orc Court.

In the oceanic regions, the islands above the sea belonged to the Dragons, while the depths below belonged to sea monsters and the Merfolk.

These races and regions were the primary subjects covered in 《A Guide to Traveling the Continent of Valen》, with dedicated chapters for each later in the book.

Other races either survived in the gaps between these major races or lived as dependents of them, and were not covered in the Continental Travel Guidance Course.

The Underground World and the Sub-World regions, while marked on the map, were only briefly mentioned in the first chapter’s world overview, with no detailed chapters devoted to them later.

If some Surface World racial territories were excluded from the textbook because they posed little danger and weren’t worth witches’ attention, then the Underground World was excluded because it was far too chaotic and dangerous — witches below Peak level were not recommended to travel there on their own.

From the world map and the first chapter’s overview, one could only learn that the Underground World was roughly divided into two regions: the Underdark, where various dark races congregated, and the Abyss, controlled by demons.

As for the Sub-Worlds, they were excluded from the course because of the difficulty of entering them.

The Elemental Plane, the demiplane where the Witch Academy was located — these were all Sub-Worlds attached to the Main World. Each had entry requirements and could not be reached through normal means.

Many witches went their entire lives without finding an entrance to a Sub-World. These were the most niche travel destinations, so naturally there was no need to teach about them in a basic required course.

While copying books today, Mo Lan had noticed quite a few travelogues, including several about Sub-Worlds.

But those were all for self-study outside of class.

Mo Lan studied the world map carefully, gaining a general understanding of the territorial ranges of the various races in the world of Valen, before she began watching the teaching videos in earnest.

After listening for a few minutes and finding that keeping up with the lectures posed no difficulty, she increased the playback speed.

By Sunday evening, she had finished teaching videos one through four.

Feeling a bit hungry, she headed to the storage room while still listening to the lecture, planning to grab some ingredients to make dinner.

She walked in and looked around. “Where are all my strips of cured meat?”

“That meat came from the Ingredient Collection Station. Third-years are not permitted to consume it. It was reclaimed yesterday,” said No. 69 Amisha.

    Mo Lan: “…”

If she had known that even the cured meat she had prepared herself would be taken back, she would have eaten it all the day before!

Now this was just great — every bit of her stored meat was gone.

Not only was the meat gone, but the Dodo Bird eggs in her basket were missing too.

Originally, she had only wanted to explore the Inner Region early to prepare for moving out of the Dormitory at the end of the school year.

Now she also wanted to hurry to the Inner Region to hunt and get some meat to eat.

With such high-intensity studying every day, how could she go without meat!

She could use cards too, of course, but if she relied on cards for everything, life would become too comfortable, and it would dampen her motivation to explore.

Mo Lan picked some vegetables from the garden and the fields, and that settled dinner.

An all-vegetable feast — she ate it without an ounce of satisfaction. That evening, while watching the teaching videos, she silently increased the speed a little more, watching two more videos before calling it a night.

On Monday, Mo Lan did not go to the Academy Castle for class. The moment she opened her eyes, she pulled out the projector and started watching the teaching videos.

Cooking and eating were all done while watching videos.

After finishing teaching videos seven through ten in the morning, Mo Lan called out to No. 69 Amisha during her lunch break. “Headmistress, please help me notify the Amisha who teaches the third-year class that I’m applying to take the Continental Travel Guidance Course completion exam during tomorrow afternoon’s 《Basic Mathematics》 class.”

    “Understood.”

Only then did Mo Lan continue watching the teaching videos.

Four sessions in the afternoon, two in the evening.

    Four more sessions Tuesday morning.

While watching the videos, she would also flip through the textbook. By the time she finished the teaching videos, she had finished the textbook as well.

At two o’clock Tuesday afternoon, Mo Lan appeared punctually in the 《Basic Mathematics》 classroom.

Every little witch was present in the classroom.

None of the little witches had chosen to study 《Basic Mathematics》 by watching videos on their own — they only used the teaching videos as a review tool.

After all, even attending lectures in person was sometimes hard to follow, let alone watching video lessons where you couldn’t ask questions on the spot.

Besides, the Headmistress’s avatars differed from one another — the Guardian Headmistress knew absolutely nothing about Earth mathematics.

The little witches, freshly battered by a morning of math class, were astonished to see Mo Lan arrive.

This scene felt so familiar somehow!

“I remember now!” Vasida asked, “Moira, you’re not here to take a completion exam, are you?”

Last year had been the same — whenever Mo Lan suddenly showed up for a class she didn’t need to attend, it was always for a completion exam.

“No way! It’s only the second day of the semester!”

The little witches could hardly believe it.

“Yes! I’m here to take the Continental Travel Guidance Course completion exam.” Mo Lan found an empty seat and sat down.

    The little witches: “!!!”

Some little witches had only attended one day of the Continental Travel Guidance Course, while another little witch had already finished the entire course and was ready to take the completion exam.

And needless to say, she would definitely pass — and with a perfect score, no doubt!

After two years together, through exams big and small, Mo Lan had never scored anything other than a perfect mark.

So while they were surprised, not a single little witch thought Mo Lan’s completion exam would be anything less than flawless.
