Chapter 303 – The Curse Registry

For the first time, Mo Lan felt the bittersweet sting of being overtaken by the younger generation.

However, Curse, Blessing, and Prophecy Magic all involved the power of fate, making them quite special.

Simply casting spells into thin air without a target—where the magic produced no real effect—meant that even high-frequency practice couldn’t possibly yield such rapid improvement.

Mo Lan was curious. “What are you casting on?”

Annie first flashed a dangerous smile, then held out both hands and began counting on her fingers:

“The duke, the duke, the duke, the duke, the duke, the duke, the butler, the butler, the captain of the guard…”

She cycled through the list and started over from the beginning. By the time Mo Lan had heard the word “duke” so many times it stopped sounding like a real word, Annie finally stopped:

“They’re all bad people who hurt me and my sister!

Once I learned that Curse Magic can curse enemies from a distance, the first thing I do after finishing my daily studies is curse every single one of them, so they’ll have terrible luck!”

“I use my luck spell on Annie, Lady Amisha, the Elder Sorceresses, my fellow witch classmates, and every witch predecessor I’ve read about in books,” Anna said somewhat shyly. “Unfortunately, my total magical power is too low—you only get a turn about once every three days, senior.”

To show that she really had been trying her best, she took out her Grimoire and flipped to a particular page where her blessing registry was written.

Annie also had a little grudge book, hidden inside her Grimoire, with not too many names on it.

Every time she cursed one of them, she would draw a small X next to their name.

The page with “the duke” written on it was already completely covered in small X’s.

Mo Lan was deeply shaken and profoundly inspired.

Of course! Wasn’t Curse Magic meant for cursing your enemies? And Blessing Magic should be used to bless friends, family, and fellow witches!

She had been using them far too narrowly before. She should learn from Anna and Annie—write down names, keep a little notebook, use names as a medium, and cast blessings and curses daily.

If she did that, why would she ever worry about her Blessing Magic and Curse Magic improving too slowly?

“You two have come up with such a brilliant method! I’m going to do the same thing from now on!”

Mo Lan said, “Would you mind sharing your curse registry and blessing registry with me? Especially the curse registry.

The only enemies I can think of are the people recorded in history books who persecuted witches, but most of them are already dead, so the curses probably wouldn’t have any effect.”

“Of course!” Annie and Anna said without hesitation.

This was their Sorceress senior! Her cursing power was surely far stronger than theirs, and her mana much more abundant.

Mo Lan copied Annie and Anna’s curse and blessing registries directly onto blank pages in her Grimoire.

“Me too, me too!” Lynn and Jemima chimed in together. “We don’t know Curse or Blessing Magic yet, but we’ll learn them next year. Then we’ll be able to use them. It’s just that our talent in these two schools of magic is average, so we might not be able to help much…”

“Sure!” Annie and Anna looked at their juniors warmly. “And if anyone ever bullies you in the future, make sure to tell us! We’ll curse them for you!”

Watching this scene, a flash of inspiration struck Mo Lan:

“Headmistress! Headmistress! Could we have everyone compile their blessing and curse registries into a collection, then add it to the Witch Council and Academy Library for all witches currently studying Curse Magic and Blessing Magic to share and practice together?”

During the Divine Descent Era and the early Magic Era, curse witches had improved quite quickly.

Back then, there were so many people persecuting witches that there weren’t enough hours in the day to curse them all.

Ever since Sorceresses had come into existence, very few people dared to openly harm witches anymore, and curse witches had become increasingly rare.

It wasn’t just because talent in Curse Magic was rarer—the lack of sufficient targets to practice on, making it difficult to raise one’s magic level, was also a major reason.

The four little witches beside her wore expressions like this: (‘ロ’)! They were still helping each other curse their enemies, and their senior had already thought of getting all witches to help!

Annie and Anna waited nervously for the Headmistress’s response.

No. 69, the Guardian Headmistress: “Approved.”

    Anna and Annie: “!!!”

    It actually worked!

Mo Lan wasn’t surprised by this at all. There was no reason to refuse something that was nothing but beneficial.

There was a reason why only witches possessed the abilities of cursing and blessing. Beyond the world consciousness’s careful selection, only witches with excellent and kind souls would not abuse these two abilities.

That being the case, why not unite their power? It would both increase their casting material and protect and support their fellow witches—perfectly aligned with witches’ interests.

Mo Lan was only curious about one thing. “If this actually gets implemented, there will be a reward from the Witch Council, right?”

No. 69, the Guardian Headmistress: “Yes.”

Mo Lan winked at Anna and Annie. “Did you hear that? Make sure to compile your lists and submit them to the Headmistress!”

    Anna and Annie: “But…”

Everyone was the one helping them—how could they be the ones getting rewarded?

“No buts! We don’t have any lists!” Mo Lan said. “Besides, your lists really are a huge help for everyone learning Curse and Blessing Magic. You have no idea how much of a headache I had when I was studying and practicing these two schools of magic before.”

Tears glistened in Anna and Annie’s eyes.

The luckiest thing that had ever happened to them in their lives was awakening as witches, coming here, and meeting such loving witches and Sorceresses.

All the pain they had suffered before had been healed by the love of their fellow witches.

“Alright! If we don’t get moving, we’ll be late!” Mo Lan said.

“Mm!” Anna and Annie nodded emphatically.

The five of them hurried toward the Great Hall.

Upon entering the Great Hall, Mo Lan immediately spotted Vasida, Sylph, and Lilith holding promotional posters and a stack of flyers. Her steps faltered, and she slapped her forehead in dismay:

“Oh no! I was in such a rush that I forgot to make the flyers!”

“Moira!” Sylph waved her over. “Come here!”

Mo Lan dragged her feet over reluctantly. Vasida, impatient with how slowly she was moving, ran over and pulled her along:

“We’ve been looking everywhere for you! Is it going to be the same as usual for the promotion this time? What new seasoning packet cards are you planning to release? Everyone’s really looking forward to it! I’m already tired of all the old flavors.

You have no idea how much effort it took me just to keep myself fed in the Inner Region.”

Lilith also asked, “Where are your posters and flyers? Hurry up and show us! Out of all of us, you always have the most new ideas.”

Mo Lan rested her hand on her deflated shoulder bag. The calm, effortless composure she had shown in front of her juniors was completely gone, replaced by a pained expression:

    “I forgot…”

    “What?!” ×3

“Shh! Keep it down!” Mo Lan hastily cast a Silencing spell around them, preventing their voices from reaching the ears of other witches—especially the juniors.
