Chapter Index

Dayla hadn’t lied either—there was no Dawn Society in the Wilds. There hadn’t been one three years ago, and there wouldn’t be one three years from now.

What they had was called Card Magic.

But to help smooth things over when the time came to formally sign the membership contract, she added: “Though I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that some Beyond Peak level witch came up with this method to earn Mana.”

In short, before the contract was signed, even if it was exposed as the work of a witch, it absolutely could not be exposed as the work of a Sorceress.

A Beyond Peak level witch and a newly born Sorceress carried completely different implications.

Even after the contract was signed, it was best not to reveal the Sorceress if it could be avoided.

Clara harbored no suspicion toward her godmother’s intentions. She had a very favorable impression of witches, and after learning the Dawn Society might have been created by one, her wariness dropped considerably.

“Let me see what’s actually in this Dawn Society Resource Catalog!”

She was already a Peak level mage, with active psychic power exceeding 5,000 Mana. Her reading speed, memory, and learning ability all far surpassed ordinary people.

She finished reading the Dawn Society Resource Catalog in no time, and had even memorized sixty to seventy percent of it.

The resources listed inside led Clara to dismiss the theory that the Dawn Society was a Yala Empire plot against the Mage Empire.

If it were a plot against the Mage Empire, there would be no need to include so many unheard-of culinary resources. She hadn’t dared to eat the bowl of instant noodles Greta had brought out, but she still remembered it to this day—and that kind of culinary resource was listed in the Dawn Society Resource Catalog as merely a simple convenience food, the lowest tier of culinary resources.

One could only imagine how delicious the other foods must be.

Using culinary resources like these to target Dragons would make more sense—but targeting mages? A single Green Phantom Fruit material card would be more than enough.

Besides, the Yala Empire was absolutely a culinary wasteland. When Clara had been studying at the Imperial Magic Academy, she’d met several mage classmates who had fled from the Yala Empire, and every one of them had praised the Mage Empire’s food culture without exception.

Supposedly, commoners in the Yala Empire lived lives worse than death, and commoner mages were merely toys for the nobility. Under such conditions, how could fine cuisine possibly find fertile ground to develop?

How could they possibly produce so many exotic delicacies?

The possibility that a Beyond Peak level mage had brought back food from the Well of the Sky didn’t even cross Clara’s mind.

The opportunity to bring back resources from another world was incredibly precious—even the gluttonous Dragons wouldn’t waste such an opportunity on mere ordinary delicacies.

Then, reading the Dawn Society Mission Statement and the Dawn Society Confidentiality Regulations, Clara grew even more puzzled: “If all of this is actually true, I’d have to wonder whether the real God of Light has descended.”

Only the God of Light—that fictional deity the Angels had fabricated—could be this benevolent and selfless.

Wait, the Dawn Society wasn’t entirely without demands.

All resources required Gem Coins to obtain, but Gem Coins only required recoverable one-time magical energy.

“Could it be that some Beyond Peak level powerhouse obtained a means to store one-time magical energy from the Well of the Sky?” Clara speculated.

Dayla was still reading the Dawn Society Resource Catalog. She too had to complete the trial and join the Dawn Society like a genuine newcomer in order to maintain clear separation from the organization. “…”

It had to be said—that guess was remarkably close to the truth.

Mo Lan’s Book of Cards was indeed capable of storing one-time magical energy.

    Number 21, Apprentice Lane.

Mo Lan had been keeping the Dawn Society Management Card by her side at all times these past few days.

The Dawn Society’s development had simply been progressing too rapidly. Several heavyweight trial participants had arrived, and she couldn’t help but follow their trial progress.

Even Lilith, Vasida, and Sylph hadn’t left the house these past few days.

Inviting Aramir had been an absolutely perfect decision!

She never could have imagined that after completing Trial Task One, Aramir would immediately claim all ten invitation letters for Trial Task Two and send them all out.

And every single one of those ten invitations had been accepted.

The slowest among them had signed the contract today.

Just look at who he’d invited!

Rolf the Dwarf blacksmith, Marquis Dayla, Grand Duke Clara of the Duchy of Lance, Count Parluf, Count Perez, Count Elliott, Viscount Collins, Viscount Philippe, Viscount Adams, and Viscount Mitchell.

One Peak level caster, two Advanced level casters, three Intermediate level casters, and four Beginner level casters.

He had single-handedly swept up every caster of status and power in Lance City.

Though these people were still in their trials, as long as they passed, they would earn Aramir a full 67 contribution points, catapulting him to a Level 6 Night Mist Apprentice.

The others were one thing, but if Grand Duke Clara became a member of the Dawn Society, then it would only be a matter of time before every noble in the Duchy of Lance joined as well, wouldn’t it?

How many noble mages did the Duchy of Lance have again?

The records from several years ago that Dayla’s grandmother had sent back showed the Duchy of Lance had 28,668 Barons and 2,382 Viscounts.

At 6 Mana per person, that would send her straight to Second Rank!

What was she supposed to do if she surpassed Peak level this quickly? Travel the Mainland while challenging the Well of the Sky?

Mo Lan was thrilled inside, but maintained her composure on the surface.

Lilith and the others were far more open with their emotions.

“Did we rent the house on Apprentice Lane for too long? A whole year?” Lilith said.

The third act of Mo Lan’s plannederta—Mo Lan’s journey opened with there being not enough Dawn Society contribution points left to earn in Lance City, so they would decide to set out once more, traveling toward the Mage Empire while continuously earning contribution points along the way.

“When Grand Duke Clara sees the official membership contract, will she really sign it?” Vasida asked.

“Grand Duke Clara has no prejudice against witches. When she sees the name written in Witch Script, it should actually put her more at ease!” Sylph said.

“Look! She’s started the exam!” Lilith said.

“Did she actually read through all three documents properly? She’s taking the exam already?” Vasida wondered.

“She’s a Peak level mage with powerful psychic power. Her learning ability should be quite strong by now. For ordinary materials like these, finishing that quickly is perfectly normal!” Mo Lan said.

Sure enough, on her very first attempt, Clara met the requirements.

After completing the trial task, Clara immediately spent active psychic power in the trial shop to purchase a Green Phantom Fruit fragment card.

Less than ten minutes later, Mo Lan and the others saw the number of official members on the Dawn Society Management Card increase by one.

After Greta and Aramir, the newest entry was none other than Clara Lance.

As a Grand Duke, summoning ten mages and having them sign invitation letters was naturally no difficult task.

Even Dayla’s grandmother’s Trial Task Two had been completed ahead of schedule—she was simply slower at reading and studying, and was still stuck on Trial Task One.
