    Chapter 513 – Contract Terminated

Although the Mana that had exceeded the threshold was now being suppressed by Valen’s world consciousness, it wouldn’t affect Mo Lan’s continued Mana growth.

Mo Lan could keep accumulating Mana and raising her Magic level.

Once her Mana stabilized, she used Transfiguration to reshape the flying carpet back into the more agile and faster broomstick.

There probably weren’t any Beyond Peak level powerhouses in this area, so no one had detected the resonance between her and the Well of the Sky at the moment of her advancement.

Mo Lan rode the broom to catch up with the magic carriage, then silently teleported inside.

Lilith, Vasida, and Sylph sensed the shift in spatial power within the cabin. They looked over just in time to see Mo Lan appear in the empty seat, the broomstick vanishing from her hand in an instant.

“How did you come back so quickly!”

“Did you see the Well of the Sky? What does it look like?”

“How does the Well of the Sky connect to other worlds? Where exactly is it?”

    ……

Lilith, Vasida, and Sylph were no less curious about the Well of the Sky than Mo Lan. The moment they saw her return, they hastily set up a one-way sound-dampening spell and began peppering her with questions.

“I only went through an advancement. I did see the Well of the Sky, but I didn’t go there. My current Magic level still isn’t quite enough for the Well of the Sky,” Mo Lan said. “As for what the Well of the Sky looks like…”

Mo Lan opened her mouth, then opened it again, but no matter what she did, she couldn’t produce any sound to describe what she had seen of the Well of the Sky.

“It seems you’ll just have to wait until you surpass Peak level yourselves and go see it with your own eyes.”

“Now I understand why all the seniors have been so tight-lipped about the rules of the Well of the Sky! Turns out you literally can’t speak about it!” Lilith said.

“Your total Mana shouldn’t be too far from breaking ten thousand, right? When the time comes, don’t rush to the Well of the Sky! You need at least one school of Magic to reach Peak level perfection before going. Ideally, all your Witch Magic should be at Peak level perfection first!” Mo Lan cautioned.

Vasida was about to say something when she suddenly heard a voice ring out beside her ear.

“Contract terminated. Mana returned. Witches, protect yourselves!”

“Did I hear that right?! Just now, that was…” Vasida said hesitantly.

Mo Lan, Lilith, and Sylph were all stunned. “We heard it too.”

They even felt a certain connection sever.

At the same time, a surge of Mana suddenly returned to their bodies.

All four of them simultaneously pulled out their Status Cards.

Just moments ago, Mo Lan’s Mana bar had read “9999 (2)/10001 Mana.” Now it showed “9999 (107)/11601 Mana.”

When her gaze swept to the Sorceress Magic column, Mo Lan was filled with disbelief.

【Sorceress Magic: Book Magic (Peak level), Contract Magic (Peak level), devouring magic (Peak level), Blood Magic (Peak level), Hybrid Magic (Peak level)】

“Five! There are only five left!” Mo Lan hurriedly asked her companions, “Do you still have your Fireworks Magic?”

What she received in return was a long silence and ashen faces.

    Mo Lan understood.

    It was gone.

All of their Fireworks Magic had vanished.

The additional 1,600 Mana was exactly the cost of the Firework Blast from Apprentice to Intermediate level Fireworks Magic — she hadn’t even purchased the Advanced tier yet.

After a long pause, Sylph said quietly, “Just now, that was… Lady Anita? She…”

    Contract terminated. Mana returned.

Sorceress Magic contracts were lifetime contracts. The contracted parties could not voluntarily terminate them. In other words, the Mana traded away normally could never be recovered.

The contracted parties paid permanent Mana in exchange for permanent usage rights to Sorceress Magic.

There was only one situation in which the lost Mana would return.

That was if the Sorceress herself tore up the contract and returned the Mana to the contracted parties.

“Could it be that Lady Anita no longer needs to sell Magic to earn Mana? So she took back the Sorceress Magic?” Lilith said, her voice laced with faint hope.

But even as the words left her mouth, she didn’t fully believe them herself.

This was Lady Anita — the one who had never sold her Fireworks Magic to any non-Witch race, all to protect the safety of Witches!

Her Fireworks Magic had never been about earning Mana. It was about giving every Witch a trump card — one that could unleash all their magical power in a critical moment to protect themselves.

Why would she take back the Sorceress Magic just because she no longer needed to earn Mana?

Moreover, the voice just now had said “Witches, protect yourselves,” which did sound very much like something Lady Anita would say — but it also sounded deeply ominous.

Every worst-case scenario cycled through their minds. The atmosphere inside the carriage grew heavier and heavier. Even Zhizhi, who was controlling the magic carriage, felt the pressure and gradually slowed down.

Finally, Mo Lan broke the silence.

“Lady Anita’s current situation may not be good. She might even be…”

“Moira! Don’t say that word! Please! Don’t say it!” Sylph’s eyes reddened. “She’s so powerful! She could punch through the Abyss, she could break open Heaven’s Peak — how could she possibly…”

“That’s right! She’s so powerful! How could she?!” Lilith murmured.

“Aren’t Sorceresses supposed to be the strongest? And Lady Anita’s Fireworks Magic is the most destructive of all Sorceress Magic — how could this happen!” Vasida said, her head bowed.

Though none of them had ever met Lady Anita in person, every Witch knew of her deeds.

It could be said that without Lady Anita, without her Fireworks Magic, there would be no peace in the Wilds today, and no independent, free Witches.

No Witch had ever imagined that someone as powerful as Lady Anita might one day meet with misfortune — might one day leave them behind.

Mo Lan had never imagined it either — that a Sorceress as powerful as Lady Anita could one day “die.”

She still remembered the shock she had felt when she first saw Lady Anita’s 《Fireworks Magic》.

But shock and grief would do nothing to change reality.

“Lilith, Sylph, Vasida — reality is cruel, but we have no choice but to face it. Running away will never solve anything.

We need to find out what happened to Lady Anita and do what we can.

If Lady Anita truly isn’t coming back, then we must stand alongside Carmela and Lady Traci to shoulder the responsibility of protecting the Wilds!

Without the Sorceress, her Manifested Gift will naturally lose its effect as well.

That means the magic circles sheltering the Wilds may lose the deterrence of the Firework Blast.

If the Angels, Demons, and mages find out, no one can guarantee they won’t seek revenge for being bombarded by the Firework Blast in the past. The Witches could be plunged back into the nightmares of the Divine Descent Era and the early Magic Era!”

Mo Lan’s words struck deep into the hearts of Lilith, Sylph, and Vasida — but at the same time, they steeled their resolve.

That’s right. They were Sorceresses too.

There had to be something they could do.

Seeing them rally their spirits, Mo Lan relaxed slightly and pulled out two sheets of Advanced golden bird stationery. “Let’s write to Madam Amisha and Lady Carmela first and ask what they know.”
