    Chapter 573 – Study Notes

Every dragon could reach adulthood, but not every dragon could become an ancient dragon, elder dragon, or primordial dragon — bloodline strength was determined from birth.

However, the inherited memories mentioned that the Well of the Sky contained methods for elevating Dragon bloodlines.

Even so, a veteran powerhouse among the Dragons like Krotack was only an elder dragon, and even that had been achieved through later cultivation.

As for primordial dragons — ever since this branch of Dragons descended upon the world of Valen, not a single one had appeared.

Mo Lan felt she was quite lucky. The very first proper guest she hosted turned out to be a little genius among the Dragons, born with bloodline potential at the elder dragon level.

The inherited memories she obtained naturally included dragon-tongue magic for both the ancient dragon and elder dragon stages.

    She had really lucked out.

Still, from young dragon to elder dragon, there were only twelve spells in total.

Mo Lan memorized the incantations for all twelve spells after reading through them once, and her Draconic pronunciation was flawless. However, when channeling dragon force to accompany the pronunciation, she could successfully recite the incantations for young dragon, adult dragon, and ancient dragon level dragon-tongue magic — though insufficient Mana investment made the effects rather mediocre. But for elder dragon level dragon-tongue magic, she had barely uttered a single syllable before an intense burning sensation seared her throat.

Even though she stopped immediately, her throat had still sustained some injury, and she had to gulp down several bottles of potions before recovering.

She didn’t dare try again. Ancient dragon level dragon-tongue magic was probably her current upper limit.

The only pity was that Dragons’ inherited memories were limited not only in their upper bounds according to bloodline, but also in category according to innate talent.

Take Igniwa, for instance — he was a red Dragon with elder dragon bloodline, so the dragon-tongue magic in his inherited memories went up to the elder dragon stage at most, and all of it was fire-elemental.

Different dragon species excelled in different directions of dragon-tongue magic.

Red Dragons’ dragon-tongue magic was fire-related, blue Dragons’ was lightning and storm-related, green Dragons’ was poison and nature-related, white Dragons’ was ice and snow-related, black Dragons’ was dark-elemental, gold Dragons’ was metal-related, silver Dragons’ was moonlight and healing-related, bronze Dragons’ was space-related, brass Dragons’ was prophecy-related, and copper Dragons’ was earth-related.

If Mo Lan wanted to collect a complete set of Dragon dragon-tongue magic, she would still need to find one each of blue Dragon, green Dragon, white Dragon, black Dragon, gold Dragon, silver Dragon, bronze Dragon, brass Dragon, and copper Dragon — all below Peak level — and copy their inherited memories.

And she needed to find ones with the strongest bloodlines possible, otherwise the dragon-tongue magic in their inherited memories would only go up to the adult stage at most.

Adult dragon, ancient dragon, elder dragon, primordial dragon — the gap in dragon-tongue magic between each adjacent pair of these four stages was far greater than the gap between hatchling dragon and young dragon level dragon-tongue magic.

Having witnessed ancient dragon and elder dragon level dragon-tongue magic, how could Mo Lan possibly settle for mere adult dragon stage spells?

But that was a matter for the long term.

For now, Mo Lan could only stay in her house on Delicacy Island, waiting by the proverbial tree stump for dragons to come to her.

When necessary, she would even have to entertain some dragons who weren’t her target customers, so as not to arouse Krotack’s suspicion.

Fortunately, her Culinary Magic could help her prepare dishes for guests without her having to worry about it.

By the time Mo Lan had finished organizing the inherited memories and learned all the usable dragon-tongue magic within them, it was already well past midnight.

The first thing she did was convert her gains into cards and remotely deliver them into her companions’ card albums. Then she sent a message in the Sorceress’s Home group chat.

【Mo Lan: Check your card albums, quick!】

Ever since what happened to Anita, the Sorceresses had stopped wasting time on sleep. The mage meditation technique had become their trusty aid for rapidly restoring mental energy, and day or night made essentially no difference to them.

As soon as Mo Lan sent the message, Vasida — who had just finished a fight with Igniwa and was lying in bed recovering from her injuries — Sylph, far away in the Elven Woods tending to plants — and Lilith, conducting blood research in the Land of Chaos — all used Card Magic to check their card albums.

A new card had appeared: {Knowledge Card — Dragon-Tongue Magic Study Notes (1)}.

Vasida shot upright in bed, pulling at her wounds and letting out a hissing cry of pain, but she couldn’t be bothered with the sting. Her fingertips flew across the chat window, typing rapidly.

【Vasida: It’s barely been any time at all, and you’ve already finished studying Igniwa’s inherited memories?】

【Mo Lan: Just the dragon-tongue magic related memories.】

Sylph ceased her flow of Hybrid Magic energy and sat down beneath a tree. Lilith injected the blood from her Bloodthirst Needle into her own body and bared her teeth.

【Sylph: If I recall correctly, you only arrived at Delicacy Island today!】

【Vasida: To be precise, this afternoon.】

【Lilith: The dragon-tongue magic that Vasida couldn’t get her hands on for years, and you’ve already organized your study notes?】

【Mo Lan: There really aren’t that many dragon-tongue magic spells. Of Igniwa’s inherited memories, only twelve dragon-tongue spells are actually usable.】

【Mo Lan: We absolutely must learn dragon-tongue magic. When we first travel from Valen to the Well of the Sky, it can rapidly boost our combat strength, allowing us to leverage our Mana tier advantage without being constrained by magic level!】

【Mo Lan: The key thing is it’s easy to learn too. We all know Draconic, and adapting to the pronunciation method won’t take long to master. I’ve organized all the relevant points in these notes. Once I get new inherited memories, I’ll send you the rest.】

    ……

After a period of silence, the three Sorceresses who had briefly skimmed through {Knowledge Card — Dragon-Tongue Magic Study Notes (1)} all typed out strings of exclamation marks in the group chat.

【Vasida: I can’t believe I learned Blazing Breath this fast! Nearly burned my house down — good thing it’s solid Obsidian, so it held up.】

【Lilith: I’ve learned Blazing Breath, Molten Iron Fire Rain, and Lava Scorched Earth. What kind of charmed lives do Dragons lead? Magic inheritance built right into their brains from birth — just chant an incantation and they can unleash such powerful magic!】

【Sylph: Now the Dragons’ good fortune has fallen into our laps, and tenfold at that! Dragons are limited by their dragon force, but we aren’t. We can convert and imitate the dragon force of any type of dragon!】

【Vasida: Moira, just you wait — I’m going to introduce your signature dishes to every sub-Peak-level young dragon I know. I guarantee they’ll be lining up to deliver their inherited memories to you!】

【Vasida: Also, there are some group chats on Delicacy Island you should join. Lots of old gourmand dragons hang out in them.】

In all her years on Delicacy Island, Vasida hadn’t managed to properly obtain a single dragon-tongue spell, but she had accumulated quite a network of dragon connections.

【Mo Lan: Looks like collecting the full set of dragon-tongue magic isn’t far off. (* ̄︶ ̄)】

    ……

After Vasida’s flurry of networking, Mo Lan’s Communication Card was flooded with friend requests from eligible young dragons, and her appointments were booked solid for the next month.

She hadn’t even joined the Delicacy Island group chats yet, and she’d already assembled a full spectrum of Peak level young dragons of every color.
