Chapter 578 – Leaving Delicacy Island

【Lilith: What kind of physical body could even contain a Sorceress’s soul? And even if she had a body, Lady Anita’s Sorceress bloodline probably couldn’t be restored along with it…】

【Sylph: Lady Anita sacrificed her own life to find a way to preserve her Manifested Gift, refining the Fireworks Wand into a magical artifact. Even if there were a method to resurrect her, she probably wouldn’t be willing unless the Fireworks Wand could be properly preserved as well.】

【Vasida: I can actually understand her quite well. If I were dying someday, I’d want to leave the Devouring Stomach to the Witches too. Unfortunately, while the life-refinement method does preserve the Manifested Gift, it can no longer share its abilities with Witches in the form of Sorceress Magic.】

【Lilith: The Well of the Sky is vast. Surely we can find a solution that achieves both.】

【Mo Lan: Rather than thinking about how to preserve our Manifested Gifts after we’re gone, we’d be better off protecting ourselves and living long, long lives. If the day ever comes when something unexpected happens, I believe the Witches will pull through.】

    ……

【Sylph: By the way, Carmela is already on her way back. When are you all planning to return to the Wilds? I’m thinking of heading back soon.】

【Lilith: Weren’t you trying to study how to cultivate the Tree of Life? You’re leaving the Elven Woods so soon?】

【Sylph: A while ago, a seed I’d never seen before appeared in the Box of Ten Thousand Seeds. I planted it in a growing pot, and the sprout that grew actually resembled the young shoots of the Tree of Life. I suspect it might be a mutant seed of the Tree of Life. But after sprouting a tiny bud, it stopped growing, and its condition has been getting worse and worse. When I asked it, it complained that the growing pot was too small and not grounded enough. So I want to get back to the Wilds as soon as possible and transplant it. If it really is a mutant seed of the Tree of Life, then there’s no need for me to stay in the Elven Woods any longer.】

    【Vasida: !!!】

【Vasida: You all move so fast!】

    【Sylph: “You all”?】

【Vasida: Moira has already finished collecting dragon-tongue magic and is preparing to leave Delicacy Island. At least I still have Lilith to keep me company.】

【Lilith: I’ve nearly finished collecting my foreign-race blood samples too. I can analyze them anywhere from here on out, so I’ve been considering whether to head back to the Wilds first. The ten-year term has already expired, and the Firework Blast devices on the Wilds’ guardian magic circles have lost their effectiveness. If something happens, I’d be able to help in time if I’m there.】

【Vasida: Huh? Am I really the only one still getting beaten up by a red Dragon?】

    【Mo Lan: Igniwa?】

【Vasida: That’s the one! He’s only a young dragon, yet he hits harder than some adult dragons! I refuse to leave until I crack his dragon scales!】

【Mo Lan: Red Dragons are naturally the strongest fighters among all Dragons. They rank first in magical brute force, and their physical toughness is only slightly behind black Dragons. Igniwa also has elder dragon bloodline, so he’s bound to be stronger in every respect.】

【Vasida: He’s not just a good fighter, he’s also a big eater… o(╥﹏╥)o A whole pot of my extreme hellfire chili fried rice isn’t even enough to fill the gaps between his teeth, and that stuff is absolutely murderous to cook…】

【Mo Lan: Upload a copy of your extreme hellfire chili fried rice recipe to the Management Card, and from then on you can exchange for {Gourmet Card – Extreme Hellfire Chili Fried Rice} at cost price. That should save you a lot of time. But don’t list that card on the Dawn Society’s Card Shop, or Igniwa might not be willing to come spar with you anymore.】

【Vasida: Yes yes yes! That’s exactly what I’ll do! Time to schedule another fight!】

【Lilith: Moira, where are you planning to go after you leave Dragon Isle?】

【Mo Lan: Heaven’s Peak, I think. Heaven’s Peak first, then the Abyss. Have you managed to get Angel and Demon blood yet? If not, I might be able to do it for you.】

She hadn’t actually decided yet, but since Lady Carmela and the others were already on their way back and would arrive in three years at most, Heaven’s Peak—being on the surface world—was the more suitable choice.

【Lilith: I’ve obtained several types of Demon blood, but I haven’t gotten any Angel blood yet. These days, the Angels have all holed up in Heaven’s Peak and rarely come out anymore.】

【Mo Lan: Valen no longer has fertile ground for them to spread their faith, so naturally they can’t be bothered to come out and deceive people. I’ll keep an eye out for you when I go to Heaven’s Peak.】

……Originally, the group of them had planned to slowly hone their skills and build their strength while traveling across the Continent of Valen after graduation.

So by unspoken agreement, they had each intended to do everything on their own.

But after what happened with Lady Anita, they developed a sense of urgency and began helping each other to save time.

Lilith, Sylph, and Vasida would all keep an eye out for foreign-race magic on Mo Lan’s behalf, while Mo Lan would watch for foreign-race blood samples and unusual plants and seeds for them.

Heaven’s Peak and the Abyss were different from other places.

Heaven’s Peak was sealed off, and the Abyss lay deep within the Underground World. Both had minimal contact with the outside world, and unless one ventured deep into these two places, it was nearly impossible to collect their local specialties.

Since Mo Lan was going, she naturally intended to bring back as much as she could.

Only the Sorceresses and Witches knew about her plans to leave. She hadn’t told any of the dragon customers in advance.

At the end of the month, after receiving the last dragon customer, Mo Lan stored the house at West District, No. 199 back into a card, sat on her flying carpet, and flew eastward.

After flying through the night, by dawn the next day she was already far from Delicacy Island. Only then did she use the Golden Bird spell to summon a flock of golden birds, sending the recipes for her restaurant’s ten signature dishes to each dragon customer who had added her as a Communication Card friend, along with notice of her departure.

Though she had come to Delicacy Island for dragon-tongue magic, and the dragon customers she’d hosted were mostly different each time—leaving little opportunity to form real friendships—their reverence for the dishes she had created was something Mo Lan would not easily forget.

She couldn’t stay on Delicacy Island cooking forever, and for the time being it wasn’t convenient to turn these dishes into gourmet cards for sale on the Dawn Society’s Card Shop, so she could only give them the recipes.

Krotack had been counting the days and arrived at West District, No. 199, ready to have another serving of desert salt-baked giant scorpion—only to find an empty plot of land.

That entire building had vanished into thin air.

He was just about to pull out his Communication Card to contact Mo Lan when a golden bird arrived with a letter.

    “She left?”

Krotack had only taken a nap—he’d even specifically instructed his servants to wake him when an opening appeared in Mo Lan’s appointment schedule—and she was just gone?

He snorted through his nostrils. “My desert salt-baked giant scorpion!”

The chefs under his command couldn’t replicate that flavor at all!

    “She’s a Witch!

    She’s a Witch!

    She’s a Witch!

    ……”

Krotack repeated this to himself for a long time before finally walking away from the entrance of West District, No. 199.

He found himself rather nostalgic for the old days when they could keep a Culinary Witch on the island as a servant.

“Once I become a primordial dragon, I’m going to challenge Anita to a fight, and when I win, I’ll demand she hand over every last Culinary Witch—especially the one called Moira!”
