Chapter Index

Mo Lan knew Vasida had a point. Sorceresses understood Sorceresses best, and all knowledge about them had been compiled in Mo Lan knew Vasida had a point. Sorceresses understood Sorceresses best — all knowledge pertaining to Sorceresses had been compiled into the book Mo Lan knew Vasida had a point. Sorceresses understood Sorceresses best, and everything known about them had been summarized in 《The Path of the Sorceress》.

They had all read the book countless times, and Mo Lan had memorized every last detail — the position of every ink spot on those yellowed Parchment pages, every crease at every corner. She knew it all by heart. There couldn’t possibly be anything that all four of them were unaware of.

Yet that inexplicable sense of familiarity still nagged at her.

It was like glimpsing a blurry silhouette through dense fog — clearly right there within arm’s reach, yet impossible to recall where she’d seen it before.

This vague, elusive sense of wrongness lingered in her mind, but she couldn’t find any concrete clues.

Still, this concern paled in comparison to her preoccupation with Flora’s talent test results.

The light that had bloomed within the divination crystal ball, those words dancing before her eyes — every single one challenged her understanding of the Sorceress Talent.

“It’s somewhat unexpected, I’ll admit, but you have to say — it’s a pretty good result, isn’t it?” Mo Lan’s fingers traced along the edge of the crystal ball.

Sylph nodded. “She doesn’t have a Manifested Gift or Mana, but her magic talent and base magical power are both impressive. Her magic talent is even on par with a true Sorceress!”

Her eyes kept darting toward the test records, as if she were still trying to confirm this incredible result.

“Exactly! Maybe it’s precisely because there’s no Manifested Gift that Moira’s prophecy was able to display the results so clearly!” Lilith said, rubbing her chin.

“This is fine, really. If we could actually grow Sorceresses identical to ourselves, we might as well drop everything and spend a few hundred years growing little Sorceresses in the Wilds. That alone would make the Witch race the dominant power in the world of Valen. What hope would the other races have then?” Vasida shrugged, consoling herself. “No matter how much the world consciousness favors us, it surely wouldn’t let us just dominate the entire world like that, right?”

Beneath her deliberately casual tone, there lurked a barely perceptible trace of disappointment.

Mo Lan considered the scenario of Sorceresses multiplying enough to dominate the world. She had to admit, it was quite a tempting prospect. She was just about to say something when the Card Magic light screen suddenly popped up. On the card album interface, the card slot holding the Communication Card was flashing with a conspicuous red glow.

    Another important message had arrived!

She glanced left and right — Vasida, Sylph, and Lilith showed no reaction. None of them seemed to have received anything.

Then it definitely wasn’t from the Witch Council!

Mo Lan’s heart leapt. She quickly took out the Communication Card and, sure enough, it was from Lady Carmela!

【Carmela: We’re about to arrive in Valen. Where are you?】

Without a second’s hesitation, Mo Lan sent over the coordinates of Sylph’s plantation.

Then she excitedly told her companions, “The senior Sorceresses are coming back! I’ve sent them the coordinates for here—”

Before she could finish, Sylph had already turned her gaze skyward. She’d sensed the defensive magic formation around her plantation being triggered.

Mo Lan, Vasida, and Lilith looked up as well.

Two Witches with powerful yet reassuringly familiar auras floated in the air above them.

The one on the left had a gentle face, her complexion so pale it was almost translucent, with faintly colored lips. Silver hair, long and straight, cascaded like a waterfall to her waist, the strands shimmering with a soft glow under the sunlight. She radiated an air of quiet, scholarly composure.

The one on the right had sharply defined features and a clean jawline. Her pale golden eyes were keen and bright, and her long golden hair gleamed like molten gold under the sun.

Both gazed down curiously at Mo Lan and her companions on the ground.

Mo Lan and the others could barely contain their excitement. “Lady Theresa! Lady Carmela!”

Carmela was one thing — back when they were studying at the Witch Academy, they’d at least sat together for tea and discussed matters. But Lady Traci — this was truly their first time meeting her!

Yet both were senior Sorceresses they had admired for a very long time.

A slight curve appeared at the corner of Carmela’s lips as she lightly touched the defensive magic formation.

Ripples spread across the formation. “Hurry and open up — let us in!”

Only then did Sylph snap back to her senses, quickly granting entry permissions to Lady Traci and Lady Carmela.

The two travel-worn Sorceresses descended slowly onto the grass.

“Finally back!” Carmela’s expression relaxed. She was just about to properly ask the younger Sorceresses about the recent situation in the Wilds when she heard sounds from nearby.

    “Thump! Thump!”

    “Oh! Oh!”

Puzzled, she turned her head and, together with Traci, leaned over toward the crib.

“Oh my! What an adorable little thing!”

Carmela couldn’t resist giving Flora’s soft little hand a gentle squeeze, while Traci’s gaze softened as she brushed aside the little curls the baby had smeared across her own face.

Sylph excitedly walked up to the two senior Sorceresses, ready to share the good news with them.

Mo Lan and the others exchanged glances and followed suit.

“Sylph, is this your child?” Carmela’s gaze drew back from the crib, and she looked at Sylph with some concern. “Why would you start bearing offspring so young?”

For a Sorceress, having children this early was not only dangerous but would hinder her own growth.

When Carmela was young, she too had been beguiled by love and borne a child early. Back then, she hadn’t yet known to use Contract Magic to protect herself and had suffered untold hardships before finally pulling herself and her daughter free from that quagmire.

It was precisely because of those experiences that she had taken special care to document the dangers Sorceresses faced in childbearing within Mo Lan’s 《The Path of the Sorceress》.

The physical weakness during gestation, the loss of Mana, the hostility of other races toward Sorceresses, the time and energy needed to raise a young Witch — every single aspect was no easy matter.

In recent years, with Anita’s incident and the Wilds facing unprecedented pressure, even though it appeared the Wilds hadn’t been attacked yet, it was truly not a good time to be bringing young Witches into the world.

Especially these younger Sorceresses — none of them had even been to the Well of the Sky yet. They were at the stage where they should be learning and growing. Spending over a decade caring for a young Witch would be such a waste!

Carmela felt that after reading what she’d written in 《The Path of the Sorceress》, they shouldn’t have done something so foolish. Could there have been some kind of accident? Or had someone wronged her?

At this thought, Carmela’s expression grew stern.

Facing the senior Sorceresses she’d admired since childhood, Sylph was understandably nervous. Under Carmela’s intense gaze, her words came out uncharacteristically jumbled:

“Well… Flora and Tiana were both grown using my Hybrid Magic… I only wanted to try cultivating a mutated Tree of Life, but when the fruit hatched, it turned out to be Flora… Tiana should also be a Witch when she hatches… Flora hatched three days ago… Tiana probably won’t hatch until next spring or summer. I grew Tiana because I wanted to see whether a single Witch could grow multiple young Witches…”
