Chapter 649 – The Path of the Artifact Spirit
by spirapiraMo Lan’s pupils contracted slightly. “That is indeed the case.”
She did want to verify these two points. As long as the future editions of the Mo Lan confirmed through divination that the future 《Young Witch’s Primer》 contained content about “First-Generation Sorceresses” and “Second-Generation Sorceresses,” and it was confirmed that Sorceresses could only produce Second-Generation Sorceresses on the Witch Tree, then the future she had divined definitely bore her own handiwork.
“Your wisdom is like a revelation that transcends time and space — it’s truly astounding!” Mo Lan’s voice carried sincere admiration.
Traci’s lips curved slightly upward. “You’re not bad yourself. If I were standing in your position, I would have made the same decision.”
Her voice was calm and resolute:
“I can tell you with certainty, without needing any divination — Laws that don’t belong to you cannot be mastered. The same Laws cannot be duplicated and gifted to another person. Just as you cannot create corresponding cards without the permission of the other Law masters, the Tree of Life that Sylph condensed using the Box of Ten Thousand Seeds cannot possibly hatch First-Generation Sorceresses with Manifested Gifts.”
These words struck like a bolt of lightning cutting through fog, and Mo Lan was instantly enlightened.
When it came down to it, the Box of Ten Thousand Seeds was merely the manifestation of a certain Power of Laws. It could not bestow the power of Laws upon others. Without innate Power of Laws, there could be no Manifested Gifts, and naturally, no First-Generation Sorceresses could emerge.
Next, she performed another divination on the future 《Young Witch’s Primer》. The content that appeared in the crystal ball matched perfectly with what she had just been thinking — word for word, without a single discrepancy.
For this to happen, there was only one possibility — the changes in the 《Young Witch’s Primer》 had been brought about by her future self all along.
In that moment, she came to a profound realization: the future revealed by divination was precisely the future guided by the divination itself; and the one who knew the results of the divination naturally became one of the architects of fate.
Mo Lan felt that her understanding of the power of fate had deepened further, and Divination Magic became the second type of Magic — after elemental Magic — to surpass the Peak level.
She held the crystal ball in both hands and gave Traci a slight bow of gratitude. “Thank you, Senior, for clearing up my doubts!”
Traci gave a gentle nod, her fingers sweeping across the Omniscient Book. “There we go — I’ve upgraded the Chapter of Talents in the 《Witch Clan Book》. Now I, too, have become one of the architects of fate!”
From that moment onward, the concepts of First-Generation Sorceress and Second-Generation Sorceress were officially recorded in the Chapter of Talents of the 《Witch Clan Book》.
Having been sidetracked by the matter of the Witch Tree and Flora’s group, Mo Lan and the others finally remembered to ask about Lady Anita’s situation.
“Her?” Carmela extended her hand, palm turning upward. A playful pink sparkler wand appeared in her palm. “She’s right here!”
This sparkler wand was familiar to every Sorceress present — it was none other than Fireworks Witch Lady Anita’s Manifested Gift, the Fireworks Wand.
However, its energy fluctuations were no longer quite the same as when it had been a Manifested Gift. It had transformed into a special magical item.
A once vibrant Sorceress, now only able to exist within a magical item.
Mo Lan and the others felt a heavy weight in their hearts, and the atmosphere turned somber for a moment.
“That world was saturated with chaotic temporal Laws. The fact that Anita managed to preserve her soul intact is already a blessing amid misfortune.”
Carmela’s golden eyes glimmered with the light of reason. “Her current state is certainly unique. Although she no longer has a Sorceress’s body or Mana, she still possesses a Sorceress’s soul. Moreover, once she fully absorbs the heritage of the Artifact Spirit race, she will be able to take on human form as an artifact spirit.”
“Take on human form? Is it similar to how Dragons shapeshift?” Vasida asked curiously.
“Exactly!” Traci said. “The Artifact Spirit race, who command the flames of time, were also a dominant race in that world. As long as the vessel endures, the spirit persists — their lifespan has no upper limit.
They grow stronger by continuously smelting magical materials to reinforce their vessel bodies and increase their power.
In a sense, as long as they have enough rare magical materials, they can keep getting stronger. Their growth potential is no less than that of us Sorceresses!
Once an artifact spirit’s spiritual essence grows to a certain degree, it can achieve metamorphosis — taking on whatever appearance it desires.
Anita used her own flesh and bone as the vessel base, her own soul as the artifact spirit, and the blueprint of her Sorceress Talent’s Manifested Gift to forge her artifact spirit body. Her starting point in every aspect is exceptionally high, and her future potential is boundless.
So you needn’t grieve too much. She has simply set out on a different path — one that holds an equally bright future! Perhaps before long, we’ll witness her legend once more.”
“That’s right! For Anita, finding magical materials is far easier than studying Magic. The path of the artifact spirit might actually suit her better,” Carmela said.
“Artifact spirits… are actually an entire race?”
Mo Lan and the other three exchanged glances, their faces filled with shock and sudden understanding. This revelation exploded in their minds like thunder, completely overturning everything they had previously imagined.
They had assumed that Senior Anita had been forced to become the artifact spirit of a magical item in order to preserve the Fireworks Wand — that her soul would be forever imprisoned within that small wand, stripped of the freedom that Witches cherished above all else!
As it turned out, this kind of artifact spirit was nothing like what they had imagined. They were a powerful race in their own right, possessing growth potential that rivaled that of Sorceresses.
Once Senior Anita fully absorbed the heritage of the Artifact Spirit race and awakened from that inheritance, the Pyrotechnic Sorceress who had once dominated the battlefield, blasting apart every obstacle with Firework Blasts, would surely walk the earth once more.
She had lost her Mana as a Sorceress along with all her various Magic, but in return she had gained an entirely new possibility — the ability to grow stronger by smelting magical materials.
Most importantly, she had preserved both her precious Sorceress soul and the one-of-a-kind Fireworks Wand imbued with the Power of Laws.
Based on the personality profiles of previous Sorceress seniors that Mo Lan had gathered from various Witch texts, she had to admit that Senior Carmela was absolutely right. Senior Anita was, at her core, a through-and-through lover of violence, utterly devoted to “the art of bombardment” — she simply could not sit still long enough to study anything.
This was precisely why whenever Senior Anita was mentioned, the only thing that came to mind was Firework Blasts.
A Sorceress’s Mana and Unlimited All-Element Magic talent — for Senior Anita, these might genuinely be less practical than an artifact spirit’s ability to smelt magical materials and acquire various magical abilities and magical energy.
Bloodline was merely a Witch’s outer shell; a pure soul was the most precious core of a Witch’s being.
In such a dangerous situation, managing to preserve the most precious thing was already a stroke of fortune.
How could anyone say that this Senior Anita hadn’t found a path that suited her even better?
A blessing in disguise — who could say it wasn’t a blessing at all?
Thinking of it this way, Mo Lan and the others finally felt at peace.
