Chapter Index

Valen World, 《The Witch’s Wilds》, Emerald Creek Plains.

Sylph sensed abnormal fluctuations in the plantation’s defensive magic formation and hurried over, only to see a familiar figure standing on the grass. She called out in surprise, “Moira?”

Mo Lan turned around with delight. “Sylph! You haven’t left for another world yet?”

She had originally departed from Sylph’s plantation to go to the Well of the Sky, and this time when she returned, she ended up right back where she’d started.

She simply hadn’t expected Sylph to still be here as well.

“I haven’t even finished getting my plantation properly settled—how could I leave! Though if you’d come back a few months later, you might not have found me here…”

Sylph glanced at her magic watch. “That’s right! It’s only been four years, eight months, and five days since we last saw each other. How are you back so soon? Didn’t you send a message before you left saying you were going to the Dreamweaver World and wouldn’t come back until you’d raised all your Witch Magic to Third Rank?”

“Of course! The Dreamweaver World’s Dream Chronodisk combined with the dream realm instances is practically a divine tool for secluded cultivation. I spent nearly ten years inside the instances and raised my Witch Magic all the way to Third Rank Peak, yet only a month had passed in the outside world.

The Dreamweaver World made a last-minute change to the mission details, so I came back early.”

Mo Lan gave her a brief account of her experiences exploring the Dreamweaver World. Sylph listened with rapt attention.

“So you’re saying the Dreamweaver World decided to terminate your mission and reissue the invitation because you just holed up on the ethereal side researching your own magic instead of hunting Dream-Eating Tapirs?”

“Nine times out of ten, that’s exactly what happened.” Mo Lan shrugged, rather aggrieved about the whole affair. “The Dreamweaver World’s world consciousness is way too stingy. Sure, I wasn’t exactly enthusiastic about hunting Dream-Eating Tapirs, but I genuinely spent a huge amount of Mana on casting spells and crafting cards!”

“Pfft~” Sylph laughed and shook her head. “The way you handled that mission… truly an eye-opener!”

Mo Lan tossed Sylph a card. “These are magic plant seeds I collected in the Dreamweaver World, along with the corresponding research materials. Unfortunately, the mission ended too quickly, so I couldn’t collect them all…”

Sylph materialized the card and looked at the seed pouches and data cards filling several large crates. “Looks like my trip to the Well of the Sky is going to be pushed back yet again!”

Her reason for going to the Well of the Sky had always been to seek out magic plants from other worlds—and now those otherworldly magic plants were right before her eyes.

“Sylph, take a look at this!” Mo Lan pulled out some photographs. “I took these in Greenwood Village in the Dreamweaver World. This type of tree is called a hollow tree…”

Of all the novel magic plants she’d encountered in the Dreamweaver World, only the hollow tree had left a lasting impression on her—one she couldn’t stop thinking about.

Unfortunately, she hadn’t managed to obtain seeds from a living hollow tree in time. She had only secretly snapped off a small branch at the Heartwood Inn and brought it back as a card.

“Can you check whether this branch has truly lost all vitality?” Mo Lan handed the {Hollow Tree Branch (Dryad Shed Shell Version)} to Sylph.

Sylph looked at the photographs and was quite curious about this plant as well. She examined the hollow tree branch carefully. “Strange… this branch is quite fresh and still has some vitality, but the vitality keeps declining. Even my Hybrid Magic can’t save it—it probably can’t be propagated through cutting… Is this really the ‘remains’ of an intelligent species after transformation? If you hadn’t told me, I truly wouldn’t have detected any trace of flesh and blood!”

“When the Dryad’s Transfiguration magic is practiced to its ultimate level, there really are no flaws to detect.” Mo Lan transformed into her most practiced form, the Trailing Silk Orchid. “Sylph, look at me—if I don’t speak, can you tell I’m fake?”

Sylph had never seen a Trailing Silk Orchid from the dream realm, but that didn’t stop her from observing the flower Mo Lan had become from a botanical perspective. The more she observed, the more amazed she felt.

“There’s actually magic like this in the world—it even replicates how magic plants draw energy from soil and air. If you hadn’t told me, I absolutely couldn’t tell this isn’t a real plant!”

“Transformation magic is fun, right?” Mo Lan happily shared her knowledge of Transfiguration with Sylph. “With your research into plants, learning plant transformation magic would definitely be twice the result with half the effort. What do you say? Want a copy of plant transformation magic knowledge? Half-price special—only fifty units of source Mana crystals!”

Sylph imagined herself growing in the soil alongside the plants she cultivated, and her heart was tempted… Unfortunately…

“I don’t have that many source Mana crystals anymore. I spent some buying otherworldly plant seeds at the Explorer’s Camp.

That hollow tree you mentioned—the one that stopped growing yet remains alive—and the miraculous plants in the Exploration Zone both interest me a great deal…”

As Sylph spoke, she made up her mind. “I might as well go see the Dreamweaver World for myself once I’m done with things here!”

The reason she still hadn’t set out wasn’t solely because some plants in the plantation still needed arranging—it was more because the Well of the Sky currently didn’t have any mission invitations well-suited to her.

Either the missions were too difficult for her to feel confident completing, or the worlds were too far removed from nature-type environments with insufficient plant resources.

By comparison, the Dreamweaver World that Mo Lan had just visited was actually a rather good choice.

“…” Mo Lan hadn’t expected that her very first attempt at selling otherworldly magic knowledge would fail, and that she’d end up advertising for the Dreamweaver World instead.

But from Sylph’s perspective, it really was a solid choice.

As long as Mo Lan listed {Dream Coins}, {Dream Fragrance Wood}, {Fruit of Materialization}, and {Dream Chronodisk} in her shop, anyone heading to the Dreamweaver World could fight from a position of abundance.

Even across different worlds, Card Magic could still be used.

Mo Lan herself didn’t plan to go back, but if Sylph was willing to go, she could use Sylph’s help to collect more books, skill manuals, and magic materials from the Dreamweaver World.

It would make up for some of her regrets!

“Of course, no problem!” Sylph agreed without hesitation.

Mo Lan briefed her further on the situation on the Dreamweaver World’s material side. “You’ll definitely have no trouble adapting to the dream realm, but the real world—you’ll need to be careful there. If you can’t obtain a legal identity, just set up a safe house and lay low…”

People who had never lived in a technological world could hardly comprehend the level of information transparency there. It was all too easy to accidentally expose yourself.

If it weren’t for the fact that you could leave the world at any time after killing just one Dream-Eating Tapir, and that the real world’s inhabitants had very low magic levels, the Dreamweaver World’s historical mission completion rate would definitely not be as high as it was.

After organizing a heap of information about the Dreamweaver World into cards for Sylph, Mo Lan finally said her goodbyes and teleported away.

She had gotten in touch with her senior Traci. Traci had arranged to meet her at the Dukang Wine House in Witch’s Town, and their agreed-upon time was fast approaching.
