Chapter 941 – Connecting to the Magic Network
by spirapiraMo Lan was completely immersed in this wondrous state of becoming one with the forest, temporarily forgetting the passage of time.
At that moment, throughout the Emerald Green Tribe—whether the Elf druids wiping dewdrops from their leaves, the Elf bards humming ancient ballads in forest clearings, or the Elf rangers polishing weapons in their treehouses—all stopped what they were doing at the same instant, looking up in surprise toward the center of the tribe, in the direction of the Tree of Life.
They could clearly sense the forces of nature around them, as if summoned, slowly converging toward that place.
At the same time, even purer and more magnificent forces of nature radiated outward from there, nourishing the entire area centered around the Tree of Life.
Every Elf within range felt their spirits lift, their bodies as though cleansed by the Spring of Life, even their breathing becoming smoother.
“This is… Natural Resonance?”
An elderly Elf who had been weaving a vine basket set down his work, a flash of shock and nostalgia passing through his clouded eyes. “Only someone with an extremely high affinity for nature can trigger this kind of miracle during deep natural perception… I haven’t seen this in hundreds of years.”
“The source seems to be little Moira’s treehouse!” Rhindor was filled with disbelief.
“Grandmother Clan Leader specifically reminded us just recently that Moira would be attempting natural perception these next few days and told us not to go up high and disturb her.” Polly was both delighted and impressed. “I never expected she’d master it so quickly, and even entered the legendary Natural Resonance state!”
“Oh my goodness…” A newly adult Elf covered her mouth, eyes wide. “As expected of a child personally nurtured by the Tree of Life!”
Exclamations and murmurs rippled quietly through the tribe, every Elf’s gaze tinged with undisguised envy, all focused on Mo Lan’s small treehouse.
Natural Resonance held immense benefits for all nature Elves—not only could it significantly enhance physical constitution, but psychic power could also be greatly strengthened.
Matil gazed up at the center where the energy converged, a relieved yet complex smile on her face, and didn’t forget to remind the Elves of the tribe:
“Alright! Everyone, don’t waste this opportunity—hurry and begin natural perception!”
The Elves all began meditating beneath the Tree of Life, and with the dense forces of nature brought by the Natural Resonance, their meditation was far more effective than usual.
Meanwhile, Mo Lan, at the very center of the energy vortex, was completely oblivious to all of this.
She only felt that the sensation of merging with all things in nature was indescribably wonderful, as if she had become the wind, become the light, become the flowing sap and the breathing forest.
The sun rose and set. The Elves meditating beneath the tree had all reached the limits their bodies could endure and ended their meditation, yet Mo Lan’s Natural Resonance showed no signs of stopping.
The Elves’ joy gradually gave way to unease.
“Though Natural Resonance is beneficial, there’s also a risk of losing oneself, and the body can easily lignify. She’s still a little baby—she hasn’t even been alive for a week yet!”
“Please don’t let anything go wrong!”
…
Matil immediately contacted the tree spirit of the Tree of Life.
The tree spirit was also monitoring Mo Lan’s condition at that moment. “When her body can no longer endure it, I will wake her!”
The implication being that Mo Lan’s body was still far from reaching its limit.
This wait lasted several months, and the concentration of forces of nature throughout the entire Emerald Forest rose by a full level.
The tree spirit watched her without pause, and when she finally noticed faint wood-grain patterns appearing on Mo Lan’s fingernails, she breathed a sigh of relief and immediately interrupted her.
Mo Lan heard a familiar voice speak beside her ear: “Wake up, child. Do not lose yourself in nature.”
In truth, her consciousness was still quite lucid at this point—she had simply found the current state so comfortable that she’d sunk into it. Pulling herself out was quite easy. Though she still felt reluctant to leave, she chose to listen to Tree Spirit Mother.
The instant she opened her eyes, the world appeared more vivid and clear than ever before. Even without Magic, she could sense the growth state of the lily of the valley in the flowerpot through the forces of nature alone.
Mo Lan stood up and stretched her body, immediately noticing the differences.
She had clearly grown a bit taller—her previously well-fitting vine-woven clothes now felt somewhat tight.
Her limbs had become more agile, her body so light it felt as though a single leap could reach the higher branches.
The increase in psychic power was considerable too, though it was somewhat overshadowed by her already vast reserves of psychic power.
“Natural perception truly is miraculous!” She thought this was merely the normal yield of natural perception, completely unaware that she had just completed a Natural Resonance lasting several months that had benefited the entire tribe and even the whole of the Emerald Forest.
She glanced out the window at the bright sunlight, assuming only a few hours had passed.
“I’m in perfect condition—why not try connecting to the Magic Network right now!”
Mo Lan sat back down on her heartwood bed, composed herself, and following the records in her inheritance memories and Tree Spirit Mother’s teachings, closed her eyes and began reciting the divine name of the God of Magic:
“Sovereign of the Web of Magic, pioneer of knowledge and paths, Your Highness Mirya, please grant me the right to connect to the Magic Network and explore the mysteries of Magic!”
Almost the instant she finished the prayer, her psychic power connected seamlessly into a unique, intangible space.
Soft light outlined simple boundaries, and throughout the entire space pulsed a distinctive psychic vibration, somewhat reminiscent of the mental sea.
This was her personal Magic Network space.
The size of one’s personal Magic Network space was related to one’s psychic power and other magical energies one had mastered.
Mo Lan’s psychic power alone had expanded her personal Magic Network space to an unbelievable degree.
But because she had not yet been invested in any extraordinary profession, this space could only record those universal zero-level spells that had no class restrictions.
Just as she was curiously surveying this newborn space, a new stream of information surged from the depths of her mental sea.
“More inheritance memories have been unlocked!” Mo Lan’s heart leapt with joy, and she immediately withdrew her consciousness from the Magic Network space, devoting her full attention to the newly unlocked knowledge.
What had been unlocked this time was precisely what she needed most right now—the complete magical knowledge for the zero-level stage of three professions: druid, ranger, and bard!
This was not merely the introductory profession knowledge she had encountered before, but contained complete zero-level spell models that could be studied and recorded in the Magic Network.
Beyond that, it also included some of the corresponding cultivation methods and training knowledge for each profession at the zero level.
The knowledge was detailed and enticing, as if three doors leading to different paths of Magic had been opened before her.
Mo Lan unleashed her psychic power at full capacity and, in short order, finished browsing through this portion of the inheritance memories, committing it all to accurate memory.
However, without completing a formal investiture ceremony, one could not truly begin cultivating in a profession, nor could one record that profession’s exclusive spell models in the Magic Network.
