Chapter 965 – The Place of Convergence
by spirapiraMo Lan had once seen in the memories of a slave-hunting mage that Starlight Magic Academy in Quelariel was the place most likely to offer access to the cutting-edge arcane magic knowledge of the Astral Elves.
That had been her goal from the very beginning.
“You want to apply for an Advanced Division Instructor position?” Tobias asked her enthusiastically.
Mo Lan nodded.
She had already collected the low- and mid-tier legacies of all the mainstream classes. Only some high-tier legacies remained incomplete, and being an Instructor would certainly make it more convenient to access that knowledge than being a student.
“What a wise choice!” Tobias said.
“The students in Starlight Magic Academy’s Advanced Division are all mid-tier professionals. As for Instructors, they need to be at least high-tier professionals above level 15. For some of the more popular classes, the requirements might be even higher.
If you were to offer courses related to druid or ranger classes, I’d absolutely be the first to sign up! The nature magic taught by druids and rangers of other races always feels… off somehow.
By the way, what did you choose as your main class? You must be high-tier already, right?”
Mo Lan nodded. “Both are already level 16.”
“Then you’ll definitely get the position— wait… both?” Tobias chose his words carefully. “You mean both druid and ranger are level 16? How old are you?!”
“Mm.” Mo Lan didn’t hide anything. “To pursue the glory of the high Elves and complete the bloodline atavism ritual, one needs to understand and master the core essence of power that each Elf branch specializes in. Taking on multiple related classes is only natural, isn’t it?”
Tobias opened his mouth, momentarily at a loss for words.
He froze for a few seconds before muttering hoarsely under his breath, “That’s… that’s true, but… nobody said you had to train every branch’s corresponding class to high-tier! And you haven’t even started the atavism process yet…”
His own primary class, Radiant Cleric, had only just barely crossed into mid-tier. Mo Lan clearly looked much younger than him— or perhaps she just had a youthful appearance?
Tobias felt a flicker of hope. “How old are you?”
“A hundred and one,” Mo Lan answered.
“!!!” Tobias grew even more despondent. “You only just came of age?! Do you nature Elves hide in your forests refusing to come out because you’re actually training like mad in there?”
“Hmm…” Mo Lan thought about the Elves back in the tribe. “Probably…”
After all, for nature Elves, spending their days interacting with plants and animals— how could that not count as training?
Tobias stared at Mo Lan as though seeing a nature Elf for the very first time, his gaze filled with admiration and curiosity.
He realized that he might have truly stumbled upon a treasure.
“Ahem,” Tobias cleared his throat, making an effort to keep his voice calm. “Well then, it seems I was… lacking in perspective. With your dual high-tier class strength, applying for an Instructor position in Starlight Academy’s Advanced Division— you more than meet the hard requirements. One might even say you exceed expectations.
While the Academy does have some Instructors who study multiple disciplines, someone with your level of mastery on two separate paths is likely quite rare.”
The more impressive Mo Lan proved to be, the more urgently Tobias wanted to rope her into the association. “Come on, come on, we’re almost there!”
Mo Lan followed him to an elegant tower of unusual design.
The main structure of the tower featured the silver-gray and pale purple tones favored by Astral Elves, with clean, flowing lines.
The outer walls were covered in climbing vines characteristic of the nature Elf style. At the building’s entrance stood two stone pillars. One had a small, perpetual orb of light embedded at its apex, emanating a warm, gentle radiance like sunlight. The other was shrouded in a deep, slowly shifting veil of shadow.
Blending the architectural styles of Astral Elves, nature Elves, Solar Corona Elves, and Deep Shadow Elves— Mo Lan understood immediately. “This is the Old Seekers Association you mentioned, isn’t it?”
“That’s right! We usually call it the Place of Convergence. Look at this—”
Tobias raised his hand, a small metal emblem resting in his palm.
The emblem was ring-shaped, made of a material that resembled silver but wasn’t quite silver, with finely etched abstract patterns of stars, sprouts, radiance, and shadows on its surface.
“This is the association’s identity emblem, and also the key to entering this place.”
As Tobias explained, he gently pressed the emblem into an inconspicuous depression on the smooth wooden door.
The moment the emblem made contact with the door, the ring pattern glowed with a soft light. Immediately after, an extraordinarily complex phantom of a composite magic circle flickered across the door’s surface and vanished just as quickly. Then the wooden door slid open without a sound.
What greeted her eyes was a spacious interior atrium extending upward.
The atrium had an exceptionally high ceiling, and the tiered galleries of the tower’s upper floors were visible above. The dome was composed of magic Crystals in four colors— black, white, purple, and green— fitted together.
At the center was a small indoor spring pool with crystal-clear water, where a few fish swam leisurely. Beside the pool was a flower bed with a sparse scattering of low-tier magical plants.
Surrounding the pool and flower bed were several sets of minimalist silver-gray chairs. Against one wall stood tall bookshelves, packed with heavy tomes and scrolls. Beside the shelves was an apparatus designed for projecting complex three-dimensional magical models.
On the other side, an area had been cleverly illuminated with refracted light, creating a warm, bright “sunlight corner” furnished with cushioned lounge chairs and small side tables.
Behind several of the atrium’s support pillars, the relatively dim areas were laid with dark carpets and decorated with gauze-thin curtains as light as mist.
Eight or nine people were already scattered about the atrium.
When Mo Lan and Tobias walked in, nearly every pair of eyes turned toward them.
Tobias straightened his back, his face beaming with excitement, and declared in a clear voice, “Everyone! Allow me to introduce this nature Elf companion from the Emerald Forest beside me. We finally have a nature Elf among us!”
His words were followed by a brief silence.
Then the white-haired, vigorous Solar Corona Elf elder sitting in the sunlight corner was the first to set down his teacup and walk over. His smile was warm and kind, as if sunlight had gathered in every wrinkle at the corners of his eyes.
“Welcome, child. I am Alfred. The voice of nature has been absent from this place for far too long.”
Next, the Astral Elf standing by the bookshelves— wearing a deep blue robe trimmed with silver, his bearing composed and meticulous— gave a slight nod. “I am the association’s founder, Celestian. On behalf of all the members of the Place of Convergence, I welcome you.”
The Deep Shadow Elf leaning against a corner pillar, polishing a dark short blade, moved a few steps closer without a sound. Her frame was agile, her movements barely stirring the air. She introduced herself with economy. “Viola.”
After the three high-tier Elves had introduced themselves, the remaining six mid-tier members also came forward to greet Mo Lan.
The entire association consisted of five Astral Elves, three Deep Shadow Elves, and two Solar Corona Elves.
Only then did Mo Lan realize that she was the first nature Elf to join. “Hello, everyone. I’m Moira.”
