Chapter 972 – The Course Goes Viral
by spirapiraBefore long, the application for the large classroom and the materials for setting up the magic circle were both approved.
Mo Lan spent several days constructing an auxiliary meditation magic circle capable of simultaneously guiding several hundred people into a state of natural resonance.
By this time, registration for the first class was nearly closed.
Based on the number of registrants and the magic circle’s maximum capacity, she divided the students into three batches, with classes spaced one hour apart, all scheduled for the following afternoon.
The next day, afternoon.
Inside a circular hall at the Starlight Magic Academy Advanced Division—one that had been specially reinforced, its walls and floors inscribed with multiple layers of stabilization and protective runes, capable of withstanding high-intensity energy fluctuations—Mo Lan was making her final preparations.
The first batch of students began arriving one after another.
Looking around, the number of Academy Instructors actually exceeded that of proper students!
Besides Celestian, Alfred, and Viola from the Old Seekers Association—the three who planned to treat the Natural Perception and Resonance course as their regular meditation practice—there were quite a few senior Instructors whose names Mo Lan had seen in the Academy’s faculty directory or heard mentioned in passing.
These Instructors, who normally maintained an air of stern dignity before students or enjoyed considerable reputations in their respective fields, were now gathered together, conversing in low voices, their eyes carrying varying degrees of curiosity and interest.
The prospect of “enhancing Natural Affinity” held an irresistible allure for any spellcaster. Even high-ranking professionals who had long since committed to their own paths wouldn’t mind adding a potential talent to their repertoire.
The handful of ordinary students who had managed to squeeze into the first batch sat carefully wedged among these “heavyweights,” finding inconspicuous seats in the back rows. They even softened their breathing, afraid of disturbing their seniors’ discussions.
The “lineup” for this class was, frankly, intimidating.
Countless gazes converged in unison on the young nature Elf standing at the center of the venue, dressed in a simple dark green robe.
“Is that Instructor Mo Lan?”
“She looks far too young!”
…
When the magical clock on the wall began to chime the hour, Mo Lan paused what she was doing.
“Welcome, everyone!” Her voice was not loud, yet it reached every ear with perfect clarity, like a forest spring carrying a strange soothing power that instantly quieted the hall:
“I am Moira. Thank you all for choosing this course.
Before we begin, I need to reiterate a few points.
While the state of natural resonance is beneficial, deep immersion carries the risk of losing oneself.
The duration each person can safely maintain varies depending on their psychic power strength, Natural Affinity baseline, and current mental state.
I will be monitoring your conditions at all times and will sever your connection to the magic circle when necessary. When that happens, please simply stand up and leave the magic circle’s range.
Each person may only register for one session per day. Do not sign up for multiple sessions—overindulgence is not only unhelpful but dangerous.”
Seeing that everyone understood, Mo Lan continued: “Now then, please find a spot around the array platform, sit down, and settle into whatever posture feels most comfortable and relaxed. Let us begin!”
The students moved as instructed, quickly forming a slightly sparse but orderly ring centered on Mo Lan.
Everyone adjusted their breathing and relaxed their bodies.
Mo Lan herself sat cross-legged at the core control node in the very center of the magic circle.
For her, entering deep natural resonance was as natural as breathing. She closed her eyes, and in just a few breaths, the aura around her shifted entirely. Intense forces of nature radiated outward from her.
The magic circle blazed with light. Countless threads of emerald green, composed of pure energy, reached out precisely and gently toward each student.
Then, an even more magnificent and substantial pale-green spherical magical force field—as if woven from the luminous shadows of countless tiny leaves and vines—surged upward with tremendous force, expanding rapidly until it completely enveloped the entire ring and every student within it.
“Relax… follow my guidance…”
With Mo Lan’s voice, everyone was drawn into a state of natural resonance.
The noise of the mundane world, the distractions of the mind—all were filtered away as if through the finest sieve, leaving only pure tranquility.
Then the boundaries of their senses began to blur and extend. They “heard” the faint sizzling of moisture being absorbed by plant roots deep in the soil; they “smelled” the fragrances released by different flowers blooming in distant gardens; they “felt” that among the normally chaotic and disordered magical energies in the air, the portion belonging to the domain of “nature” was flowing as lively as a cheerful brook…
The expressions on the students’ faces began to change.
Celestian, Alfred, and others who had experienced this before quickly entered a deeper level of understanding, their brows relaxing, their breathing long and even.
Those entering this state for the first time mostly looked stunned at first, then gradually became immersed and intoxicated, as if returning to the warm embrace of life’s very beginning. Their bodies and minds received tremendous relaxation and nourishment, and within them, the previously faint seeds of natural talent greedily absorbed nutrients in this fertile soil.
Mo Lan precisely regulated the magic circle’s energy output and the intensity of her guidance while simultaneously splitting a thread of awareness to monitor everyone’s condition.
She quickly noticed that aside from a few individuals with higher Natural Affinity or particularly resilient psychic power, most people’s consciousness was beginning to show signs of disorientation and assimilation.
Without hesitation, Mo Lan began precisely and individually severing the connections between these students and the magic circle.
As the magic circle’s light threads detached from these students, the force field enveloping them dimmed correspondingly.
These students opened their eyes one after another, still dazed, savoring the incredibly beautiful experience they had just undergone.
They glanced at the other students still deep in meditation around them, then at Mo Lan meditating with closed eyes at the center, before rising to their feet as quietly as possible. Following Mo Lan’s earlier instructions, they slipped out of the classroom without a sound.
Those who had already chosen nature-aligned professions quickly noticed something unusual within themselves.
Their professional cultivation had increased somewhat, and their control over the forces of nature was noticeably smoother.
But that wasn’t all.
Driven by a desire to verify their findings, some immediately headed to the Academy’s dedicated magical talent testing facility and underwent precise aptitude tests.
The results were thrilling—their Natural Affinity test values showed increases that, while small, were clearly discernible.
“What the course description said… it’s absolutely true!”
A druid student who had just finished testing said excitedly to a companion in a low voice, “It really can be improved! The increase from one session isn’t much, but this is a real, tangible enhancement of innate potential!”
This news spread like wildfire among the students who had finished the first batch.
Talent enhancement! This was a temptation no spellcaster could refuse!
The effect of a single class might not be earth-shattering, but what if one kept attending?
Constant dripping wears away the stone. Who could refuse the chance to gain an additional magical talent, or to make an existing one even stronger?
