    Chapter 981 – Liandel

“I call it Sacred Flame Sanctuary.” This was the name Alfred had given it back when Mo Lan was at the Association.

“Perfect dual-source fusion Magic… Moira, you’ve proven your strength!” Liandel fully acknowledged her. “As agreed, I will pass on the Solar Corona Elf’s Rank Nineteen and Rank Twenty class inheritances to you. Alfred mentioned that you’ve prepared an instrument capable of analyzing inheritance memories?”

“Yes!” Mo Lan produced the portable Resonance Device she had prepared in advance.

This Resonance Device of hers was created by solidifying the Psychic Magic memory-reading and copying technique, then layering it with multiple safety restrictions. It produced the same effect as the one at the Old Seekers Association, but was far simpler to construct and much more compact in design.

In truth, she could have used Psychic Magic to directly read and copy the corresponding memories without any issues, but doing so would make it difficult to earn the sharer’s trust.

Liandel examined it thoroughly and, finding nothing amiss, placed her hand on the Resonance Device as Mo Lan instructed.

Mo Lan placed her own hand on it as well. “I’m activating the Resonance Device now! You just need to release the seal on the corresponding inheritance memories, and it will automatically copy the relevant content into my mental sea.”

After more than ten minutes, the inheritance memories for Radiant Cleric and Solar Knight were fully integrated into Mo Lan’s mental sea.

She opened her eyes and gave Liandel a deep bow. “Thank you for your generosity. I will not dishonor this inheritance.”

“I believe you.” Elder Liandel smiled and nodded. “The inheritance memories are only the beginning. You’ll still need time to digest and practice before you can fully transform this knowledge into your own strength. The City of Eternal Radiance welcomes you to stay and train. Galvin and I can provide whatever guidance is needed. Of course, if you have other plans…”

Mo Lan spoke honestly. “I do need to head to the Underground World next, to find the Deep Shadow Elves of the Nightveil Clan and obtain the subsequent inheritances for Shadow Walker and Shadow Assassin.

However, once I’ve gathered all the inheritances, I’ll still need time to synthesize and master the knowledge before I can proceed to Suramalan.

The City of Eternal Radiance is certainly more conducive to training in the Radiant Cleric and Solar Knight disciplines. And the Underground World is a dangerous place—if I can raise my class ranks and abilities here first, I’ll have much better odds on the journey underground.”

“A wise choice.” Galvin nodded. “I can arrange some practical combat training for you. Only through actual battle can you master the Solar Knight’s combat magic techniques more quickly.”

“The same applies to Radiant Cleric. If you encounter any questions during your training, feel free to come ask me.” Liandel said.

Mo Lan thought it over and accepted with a nod. “Then I’ll be in your care.”

She settled into the Radiance Clan’s grounds for the time being.

Each morning, she would go to meditate near the Tree of Radiance, entering a state of light-element resonance to strengthen her body while deepening her understanding of radiant force.

After meditation, she would discuss Radiant Cleric magical theory and Rank Ten divine magic with Elder Liandel.

Liandel told her that there was no magic web in the “Divine Realm.” Once transcendent beings reached Rank Twenty, they would gradually attempt to cast spells independent of the magic web.

Only by casting independently of the magic web could one truly become a god and enter the “Divine Realm.”

This step was extremely difficult, and many transcendent beings died as mere quasi-divine beings, never advancing further.

Mo Lan suspected that what Liandel called the “Divine Realm” was very likely the Explorer’s Camp of the Seran world.

Afternoons were devoted to practical combat training with Knight Commander Galvin and his elite knights. The training grounds were in a barren valley outside the city, reinforced with magical barriers.

Mo Lan participated in training every day. Sometimes she would wear magical items that suppressed her class rank and face coordinated attacks from multiple Solar Knights working in perfect unison, honing her group combat abilities. Other times she would spar directly with Galvin himself, experiencing firsthand the terrifying magic and combat rhythm of a quasi-divine level Solar Knight.

In the evenings, she would return to her quarters to review the day’s gains, then use the mirror space to accelerate time and digest the contents of the inheritance memories.

Under this high-intensity, high-efficiency training regimen, Mo Lan’s rate of progress was nothing short of astonishing.

In just three months, her Radiant Cleric and Solar Knight class ranks had both stabilized firmly at Rank Twenty, achieved through natural insight and rigorous practice.

Not only could she skillfully wield multiple Rank Ten divine spells and combat magic techniques, but her practical combat ability had risen to an entirely new level.

“Your talent is truly unlike anything I’ve ever seen.”

After the final day of training, Knight Commander Galvin remarked with admiration, “There’s nothing more I can teach you. At this rate, you may well enter the Divine Realm before I do.”

“Without your unreserved guidance these past months, relying on my own exploration alone, I wouldn’t have progressed nearly this fast!”

Mo Lan wiped the sweat from her brow. It had been a long time since she’d fought so exhilaratingly—finding a quasi-divine level sparring partner was no easy feat.

That evening, Elder Liandel invited Mo Lan to the top-floor terrace of the sanctuary. From here, one could overlook most of the City of Eternal Radiance. The lingering glow of sunset intertwined with the light of the Eternal Corona, dyeing the entire city a magnificent orange-gold.

“You leave tomorrow.” Bishop Liandel handed Mo Lan a cup of sunflower tea. “The path to the Underground World is nothing like the City of Eternal Radiance. It is the antithesis of light—a domain where shadow and evil fester. Be careful.”

“I’m ready!” Mo Lan accepted the teacup. “I must thank you and Knight Commander Galvin for your guidance during this time. A quasi-divine level Radiant Cleric and Solar Knight won’t be easy to trifle with, even in the Underground World. And I also have the map and letter of recommendation that Viola gave me.”

“Viola… I’ve met that girl a few times.” Elder Liandel gazed into the distance. “She and her teacher are among the rare Deep Shadow Elves who embrace the darkness yet still hold to their principles. With her letter of recommendation, the Nightveil Clan won’t give you too much trouble.

But remember—in the Underground World, trust is a luxury, and traps are daily occurrences.

Even among kin, there is constant probing and scheming.

The light-element force on you will stand out like a torch down there.”

Bishop Liandel produced an unassuming gray pendant from within her robes.

The pendant was teardrop-shaped, with no decorations on its surface—only faint magical fluctuations.

“This ‘Breath of Light and Shadow’ is for you. It is a rare magical artifact. Wearing it will completely conceal all fluctuations of light-based power from your body. Combined with your Shadow Walker and Shadow Assassin classes and a bit of disguise, you can pass yourself off as a Deep Shadow Elf.

A Deep Shadow Elf identity will spare you a great deal of unnecessary trouble in the Underground World.

When you need it, the pendant can also instantly dispel the disguise and unleash the full force of your light powers, instantly healing your injuries—equivalent to a single divine-level healing spell.”

    “This gift is too precious…”

“Take it.” Elder Liandel waved her hand. “You are not only the hope of the Old Seekers Association—you may even be the key for all Elves to once again touch the high Elf inheritance. Helping you is helping ourselves. Go now, Moira!”
