Chapter 990 – Sharing the Legacy
by spirapiraThe magical knowledge within the high Elf legacy memories was not categorized according to the later era’s “extraordinary professions,” but rather directly divided the magic system into five major schools based on differences in casting energy: nature magic, stellar magic, radiant magic, shadow magic, and Psychic Magic.
Nature magic encompassed multiple domains including life, plants, animals, healing, summoning, and Transfiguration. It was the origin of modern druid and ranger professional magic.
Stellar magic channeled the power of the stars, involving prophecy, spatial manipulation, protection, and energy conversion. It was the origin of modern Astral mage and Astrologer professional magic.
Radiant magic encompassed healing, purification, and destructive applications of the light element. It had laid the magical foundation for today’s Solar Knights and Radiant Clerics.
Shadow magic focused on developing the dark element’s control, damage, and concealment capabilities. It was the origin of modern Shadow Assassin and Shadow Walker professional magic.
Psychic Magic was rather unique—it encompassed both magic targeting the mind and Elemental Magic driven by psychic power. All magic in the present-day Seran world that required the use of psychic power could find its shadow within this school.
The key that enabled high Elves to freely wield these five schools of magic lay in the Elven force, which could be freely converted into the forces of nature, the power of the stars, the radiant force, the power of shadow, and psychic power.
As Mo Lan organized these five schools of magic, she constantly experienced moments of “so that’s how it is.”
Many of the “profession-exclusive spells” currently popular in the Seran world—she could find more complex and more powerful versions of them within this foundational legacy.
Clearly, when the magic network simplified spell models and lowered the difficulty of casting, it had also inevitably caused some magic to weaken or even become lost entirely.
This magical knowledge continually sparked her inspiration.
After digesting all of the high Elf legacy memories, she studied the magic contained within while cross-referencing it against Valen’s Witch Magic and Mage Magic, as well as the professional magic systems currently popular in the Seran world. She summarized, researched, and attempted to construct a series of spells that were uniquely her own.
Her Witch Magic and Mage Magic, which had previously stagnated due to a lack of corresponding magical knowledge, naturally advanced to Tenth Rank under the nourishment of this vast knowledge and the stimulus of innovative fusion.
At this moment, she had reached the Peak of the Seran world on the high Elf path, unable to advance any further.
Mo Lan ended her seclusion and checked the time—fifty-eight years had already passed.
“It’s already been that long…” Mo Lan wasted no more time and hurried out of the mirror space, returning to Quelariel.
The Place of Convergence, central atrium.
Celestian sat upright at the table, holding an ancient parchment scroll with slightly worn edges, his brows faintly furrowed.
Alfred leisurely tended to several increasingly wilted magical plants in the flower bed, occasionally sipping from a cup of warm sunflower tea.
Viola, as always, was half-hidden in a dimly lit corner, leaning back in her dedicated soft leather armchair, polishing the dagger in her hands.
Several other mid-rank members gathered around the Resonance Device, discussing in low voices as they prepared to begin the day’s legacy sharing and study session.
Click—
An extremely faint sound broke the customary tranquility.
The main door was being opened from the outside.
Celestian’s fingers tightened sharply around the parchment scroll. He looked up abruptly, a mix of surprise and uncertainty on his face.
All formal members had already arrived for today’s gathering, and the Place of Convergence was not expecting any outside visitors.
The teacup in Alfred’s hand wobbled slightly, a few drops of warm, pale golden tea splashing onto the back of his hand. He didn’t even notice, staring in astonishment toward the entrance.
Viola was the fastest to react. The instant the sound rang out, she had already sprung up like a night leopard poised to strike, arriving silently at the doorway.
The other members also stopped what they were doing, turning their gazes toward the great oak door that was slowly sliding inward.
A tall, slender figure stepped inside with measured strides.
Even though her hair color and eye color had changed, the Elves recognized her immediately.
“Moira!!!”
Several voices, mingled with incredulous, overwhelming joy, instantly tore through the silence of the atrium.
Viola noticed that she now bore the combined physical features of the various Elf branches. Only high Elves looked like that. “You… succeeded?”
Mo Lan gave a slight nod. “Yes. Sorry to have kept you all waiting. My bloodline atavism ritual—it was a success.”
She succeeded…
She succeeded!
Indescribable ecstasy, excitement, and relief instantly swept through the entire Place of Convergence!
“A high Elf… a real… we… we can actually…” Tobias stammered incoherently, his body trembling slightly with excitement.
“Ha ha ha ha! Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful!” Alfred threw his head back in laughter. “I knew it… I knew you could do it!”
Celestian slowly set down the parchment scroll in his hands, walked up to Mo Lan, and bowed deeply—so deeply his fingers nearly touched the ground—performing the most exalted salute in Elven etiquette. “Welcome back, Moira! Congratulations on becoming the first being to successfully become a high Elf since the founding of our Old Seekers Association!”
The Elves cast aside all their reserve and elegance, surging forward to crowd around Mo Lan.
After all these years, not a single one among them had managed to advance all eight professions that Elves excelled in to high rank. Completing the bloodline atavism ritual remained as distant as ever.
Mo Lan, who had already trained all eight professions to level 20, had become the sole hope and spiritual pillar in their hearts.
Now, this pillar had not only returned safely, but brought with her the good news they had dreamed of for so long.
After brief pleasantries, Mo Lan raised her hand gently. “I know you’re all eager to see the high Elf legacy memories. Come on, then!”
With that, she strode toward the Resonance Device.
“Me first!”
The normally steady and composed Association president Celestian charged toward the Resonance Device’s receiving end without a moment’s hesitation.
However, someone was even faster!
A shadowy figure, phantom-like, overtook him from behind. It left a faint afterimage in the air and slipped in front of Celestian with nimble, breathtaking speed—it was Viola!
Her hand pressed firmly onto the Resonance Device a step ahead of him, and she swiftly sat down in the chair beside it.
“Viola! You…” Celestian’s outstretched hand froze in midair.
Viola tilted her head slightly, a sly smile crossing her face. “Sorry, President—this time, I was faster!”
She sat firmly in place, already prepared to receive.
While those two were locked in their standoff, the other Elves had also snapped to attention.
“Stop pushing! I was clearly standing closest to the receiving end!” shouted a mid-rank Astral Elf member, elbowing his way forward.
“The legacy memories aren’t going anywhere—everyone just line up in an orderly fashion!” said a Solar Corona Elf, though even as the words left his mouth, his feet hadn’t stopped moving as he nimbly tried to circle around from the side.
