Chapter Index

Lilith engaged her core and her arm muscles bulged slightly. Although witches weren’t known for their physical strength, she was the Blood Sorceress — her blood fused with that of Dragons, Titans, and numerous other physically formidable races. Wrestling with a deep-sea behemoth was practically effortless for her.

The fishing rod bent under the strain, the mithril alloy groaning in protest. Then, with a sudden explosive burst of force, she heaved upward while giving her wrist a deft flick. The Alchemy runes on the Wave-Breaker Spiral Spear blazed to life.

The sea below erupted in a massive geyser of spray as an enormous dark silhouette was wrenched partially out of the deep.

All of them had learned the Vampire Blood Magic technique of dark vision, and they could clearly make out its eel-like streamlined body, covered entirely in scales like black obsidian. Its head was fearsome, bristling with sharp bone spurs and tentacles.

A gaping maw opened to reveal rows upon rows of spiraling razor teeth, clamped firmly onto the baited net pouch.

And Lilith’s spiral spear had plunged deep into the soft tissue just below its head!

“It’s a Shadow Sea Dragon Eel! And a fully grown adult!” Vasida cried out in delight. “Its flesh is firm and springy, rich in shadow and water elemental force — a top-tier ingredient for grilling and sashimi! The more it struggles, the more the meat tenses up and becomes even more delicious!”

The Shadow Sea Dragon Eel was clearly enraged. It thrashed its body wildly, trying to dislodge the foreign object in its mouth. Its thick tail slammed against the surface, sending waves several meters high crashing upward. The sheer force even made Lilith’s flying carpet sway beneath her feet.

“That’s enough — if this standoff goes on any longer, the meat will turn sour.”

Vasida seized the moment, pulling from inside her robe an unassuming little device that looked like a spice grinder. She aimed it at the frantically thrashing Dragon Eel and gave it a gentle press.

A tiny pinch of nearly invisible powder was propelled outward by elemental force of wind, sailing with pinpoint precision straight into the Dragon Eel’s gaping maw as it roared in fury.

In the next instant, the Dragon Eel’s violent movements seized up abruptly. Its wildly thrashing body went limp and slack, the fierce light in its eyes rapidly replaced by a dazed, almost intoxicated stupor.

It didn’t even struggle anymore — it simply floated on the surface by instinct, twitching faintly.

“What is that? It knocked it out just like that!” Sylph asked curiously.

“Rainbow Nightmare Powder — just the tiniest bit can plunge virtually any creature into the deepest state of ‘gourmet coma,’ completely relaxing every muscle and stabilizing their magical energy inward. It’s perfect for handling top-quality live catch!”

Even as Vasida explained, she was already contemplating how to make the first cut:

“The tenderloin of a Shadow Sea Dragon Eel is the most succulent part. The liver is a delicacy, and the skin is rich in collagen… Come on, let’s haul it back to the island to process!”

“This big guy is more than enough for a grand barbecue feast. And besides, the blood and all that commotion might just attract some other ‘curious’ visitors…”

Lilith decisively switched the flying carpet beneath her feet back into the more agile broomstick form. With one hand steadily controlling the broom and the other gripping the sturdy fishing line, she towed the unconscious Shadow Sea Dragon Eel and shot off toward the island at full speed.

Mo Lan, Vasida, and Sylph followed close behind.

When the massive sea beast’s body was dragged onto the pristine white beach, its heavy form plowed a deep, wide furrow through the fine sand before finally coming to rest half-beached near the tideline.

Vasida could barely contain herself. Before she’d even touched down, she stowed her broomstick and dropped straight to the ground, circling the enormous creature in a quick lap. Then she pulled out her Mobile Kitchen Card, and a fully equipped kitchen materialized on the beach.

The largest and heaviest silver-white chef’s knife in the kitchen unsheathed itself with a resonant hum, its cold gleam flashing as it flew toward the fattest, most succulent spot behind the Dragon Eel’s neck, hovering just above the scales.

Just as the blade was about to descend, the previously calm sea suddenly began to churn violently, as if boiling over.

Then, from that stretch of ink-dark water in the distance, a dense constellation of eerie lights flickered to life — enough to make one’s scalp tingle!

Red, green, blue, yellow… varying in size, flickering on and off — countless greedy eyes peering from the darkness at the Shadow Sea Dragon Eel on the beach.

    BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Several massive columns of water erupted skyward, exploding into curtains of spray. Accompanied by all manner of shrieks and roars, several deep-sea behemoths of various shapes burst from the water in different directions.

“Tch, they sure know how to pick their moment!” Vasida paused mid-action.

“These ill-mannered brutes who dare interrupt a chef — leave them to us!” Battle lust surged in Lilith’s eyes.

Vasida’s gaze swept rapidly over the pack of ferocious sea beasts charging toward them, her words rattling off like popping beans:

“Front left — that Rift-Tooth Hammerhead Shark leading the charge! Three inches behind its gill cover, there’s a piece of ‘live muscle’ formed by years of high-speed swimming. It’s incredibly silky-smooth — perfect for a blazing hot stir-fry!”

“On the right — that Armored Crusher Worm! It may look as ugly as mining slag on the outside, but hidden beneath the gaps in its carapace is snow-white, delicate muscle packed with water elemental essence. Extraordinarily sweet and fresh — stew it into a rich broth and it’ll knock your eyebrows clean off!”

“And that one in the back, sneaking around trying to scavenge from behind — the Ghost Jellyfish King… Its semi-transparent bell is crystalline and translucent like the finest glacial ice, with a wonderfully bouncy, smooth texture. Whether served as a cold salad or made into magical Crystal jelly, it’s an exquisite appetizer!”

“Be careful of the tentacles though — they might carry paralytic toxin. But handled properly, even that makes for a rare seasoning!”

In an instant, from this pack of terrifying deep-sea behemoths — any single one of which could annihilate an ordinary fleet — she had pinpointed the three with the greatest culinary value as “premium ingredients”!

“The Rift-Tooth Hammerhead Shark is mine!”

Lilith was already in motion before her words had faded. Wave-Breaker Spiral Spear in hand, she dashed across the waves, charging headlong at the Rift-Tooth Hammerhead Shark.

The instant the giant shark opened its spiral-toothed maw to bite down, her silhouette twisted at an impossible angle. The spiral spear screamed through the air and drove into the hammerhead shark’s relatively vulnerable eye at a wickedly precise angle, punching straight through to the brain.

The searing pain sent the giant shark into a frenzy of thrashing, but Lilith twisted her wrist and the paralysis runes on the spear shaft instantly destroyed its central nervous system.

With a sharp cry, she powered up with a single arm and wrenched the multi-ton shark clean out of the water, hurling it back onto the beach like a sack of junk, sending a storm of sand flying in every direction.

“I’ll grab the Armored Crusher Worm! Perfect chance to test the Strangling Water Vine I just cultivated!”

Sylph was brimming with enthusiasm. She raised her right hand, palm up, and flicked several dark-colored seeds into the air. (End of Chapter)
