Chapter Index

Ever since Mo Lan had warned her that there might be danger beyond the fence, the little one had only been active within the yard.

Once she had finished exploring the yard and found nothing new, she began playing “hide and seek”!

Mo Lan held Sylvia and gestured for Zhizhi to push the baby stroller, with Sentai and Clack following along.

She walked to the front door of the house and closed the open door.

    Sylvia: “(°°)?”

    Weren’t they going outside?

Mo Lan could easily read the little one’s thoughts and knew she wasn’t completely clueless, so she explained:

“Where we’re going is Mommy’s lakeside cottage by Spring Sight Lake in Witch’s Town. Mommy’s friends Vasida, Sylph, and Lilith all live nearby, and their families also have little witch babies the same age as you.”

As she spoke, she reached out and gently flicked the hand of the magical clock on the wall beside the door:

“This door of ours is a teleportation door, and this magical clock is the activation switch. This symbol represents our current home at Emerald Creek Plains Wooden House, the one next to it is the Witch’s home in the mirror space, and the last one is the lakeside cottage.”

Mo Lan turned the hand to the symbol representing the lakeside cottage.

Then, gripping the door handle, she reopened the front door.

The lush, grassy Emerald Creek Plains beyond the door had transformed into a tall oak forest and the sweet fragrance of wisteria rushing toward them.

In the yard, Vasida had already spread out a huge soft mat on the grass.

At that moment, she was kneeling at the edge of the mat, her face full of smiles as she watched Little Tessa on the mat.

Little Tessa was energetically waving her plump little arms, occasionally giving a vigorous kick of her little legs, her mouth making meaningless “ah” and “oh” sounds as she tried to reach the wisteria flowers above her head.

    “Moira! You’re here! Come over!”

Vasida heard the door open and immediately looked up, waving. Her gaze was instantly drawn to the little one in Mo Lan’s arms: “So this is Sylvia?”

She immediately leaned in closer, carefully examining the little one: “Wow, those eyes are absolutely identical to yours! So sparkly and purple—you can tell at a glance she’s a clever child!”

Sylvia was startled by this suddenly approaching stranger radiating enthusiastic energy, and her small body leaned back slightly in Mo Lan’s arms.

She widened those purple eyes inherited from her mother, looking warily at Vasida, then turned her little head to take in this unfamiliar, flower-filled yard, before looking back at the house they had just walked out of—which now also looked somewhat unfamiliar. Her tiny face was filled with enormous confusion and bewilderment.

Where is this? Is this loud-talking, face-too-close witch really Mommy’s friend?

Being witch mothers with children, since their babies couldn’t speak clearly, they had all gotten used to using mind-reading magic to understand what their children meant.

Vasida smiled and said: “I’m Vasida, your mommy’s friend, and that over there is my daughter Tessa!”

Mo Lan also introduced the place to Sylvia: “This is Mommy’s other home, the lakeside cottage.”

“Alright, Moira, hurry and put Sylvia down on the soft mat so she can play with Little Tessa,” Vasida urged.

Mo Lan smiled and nodded, carefully placing Sylvia down next to Tessa. Once Sylvia understood that this was also Mommy’s territory and that the unfamiliar witch was Mommy’s friend, she completely relaxed. Her wariness turned to curiosity, her little arms waved instinctively, and her purple eyes spun with interest—landing right on the gaze of Little Tessa beside her.

Little Tessa also stopped kicking her legs and turned her head, using her big, round eyes with their deep brown irises to curiously study this child who had suddenly appeared beside her.

The two little ones silently stared at each other just like that.

Just then, Sylph carrying Evelyn and Lilith carrying Dorella came walking over from the backyard.

Evelyn seemed to have only recently woken up, her dark green eyes half-open, looking exceptionally serene.

She didn’t react much to the change of environment—just blinked slightly, then was about to fall asleep again.

Dorella had been squirming in Lilith’s arms, but the moment her gaze caught those clusters of wisteria flowers, she immediately went quiet, her attention completely captivated. After being placed on the soft mat, she stared upward with focused intensity.

The four little ones lay side by side together.

Mo Lan, Vasida, Sylph, and Lilith—the four mothers—found comfortable spots around the soft mat and sat down, naturally forming a gentle protective circle.

Their gazes converged in unison on the four little ones in the center of the mat, not missing a single subtle movement.

“Huh? Little Tessa actually calmed down!” Vasida was the first to notice the change in her daughter, and she looked with amusement at her daughter sandwiched between Sylvia and Evelyn.

Little Tessa was no longer vigorously waving her arms and kicking her legs as before. Instead, she had uncharacteristically tucked in her little arms and legs, like a kitten that had retracted its paws, lying there quietly and still.

“Pfft!” Sylph let out a soft laugh at this, took a closer look, and said knowingly, “I think she’s afraid her movements are too big and she might accidentally bump into Sylvia and Evelyn next to her. Who would have thought—our Little Tessa looks so lively, but deep down she’s actually quite considerate and knows how to be mindful of her little companions!”

Mo Lan’s gaze fell on the quietest one, Evelyn. At some point the little one had closed her eyes again, breathing evenly, even letting out the faintest, milky little snores: “How did Evelyn fall asleep again?”

Sylph shook her head with helpless affection:

“I’ve checked her carefully several times—she’s perfectly healthy. She just purely… loves sleeping. I’m starting to suspect that when she was still in her egg, all that quietness was probably because she spent most of her time sleeping too!”

This guess drew knowing smiles from everyone.

“Now that’s interesting,” Lilith said, her gaze moving back and forth between Evelyn and her own Dorella, her eyes brimming with amusement. “These two little ones—one quietly sleeping with her eyes closed, the other quietly gazing at flowers with her eyes open—it’s as if they planned it together.”

Meanwhile, Little Tessa, “sandwiched” in the middle, had temporarily reined in her movements, but her eyes were darting about restlessly. Her body was slightly tense as she carefully wriggled, trying to find a “safe space” where she could move without disturbing her neighbors.

And Sylvia, right beside her, was the picture of a “curious baby”—her big eyes constantly roving, taking in the unfamiliar yard, the large trees nearby, and these little companions she was meeting for the first time. Her small face was filled with a longing to explore everything, and her hands and feet fidgeted restlessly.

Up in the treetops, Zhizhi had at some point nimbly climbed onto the branches of a nearby short tree, occupying an excellent vantage point for looking down.

Its fluffy tail swayed leisurely behind it, and its shiny black eyes watched the little witch babies on the soft mat below with rapt attention.

Higher up on the main trunk of the wisteria tree, Sentai’s vines had cleverly wound around and lifted Clack, steadily delivering it to a perfect viewing angle nestled among the branches and leaves.

Clack adjusted the angle of the Magic video recorder in its hands. From this elevated position above everyone, it could clearly capture the full panorama of the soft mat, every subtle expression and movement of each child, and the tender, watchful profiles of the mothers sitting all around.
