Chapter 1050 – Mo Lan’s Travel Diaries 3
by spirapiraMo Lan leaned down and kissed her on the forehead. “Don’t worry, your Slumber Blossom has already been placed in your own little bedroom. Tonight, just sleep soundly with your friends and have sweet dreams!”
Sylvia wanted to say something more, but she was simply too sleepy. Her little head tilted to the side, and she immediately fell into a deep slumber. “zzZ…”
Meanwhile, Little Tessa, who had been rolling around energetically on the bed just moments ago, gradually slowed down, turning into a sluggish little “inchworm,” before suddenly going completely still.
The blanket had been pushed up into a small mound over her. Vasida lifted the covers with an amused smile and found the little one already fast asleep, her small mouth slightly open, breathing in soft, even little snores.
She gently straightened her daughter’s body, positioning her to sleep side by side with her little companions.
Looking at the four small figures sleeping peacefully in a row on the bed, breathing evenly, Mo Lan gently lowered the bed curtains.
The curtains blocked out the light and sound, creating a more private and restful sleeping space.
“Alright, the little ones have all drifted off to dreamland,” Mo Lan said in a hushed voice, winking at her friends. “Now, it’s our time to relax. Come on, let’s go up top for a drink and enjoy the night view!”
She led her three friends toward the spiraling vine staircase beside the fireplace.
The staircase was narrow but remarkably sturdy.
They climbed the steps and passed through the glass door at the top.
Beyond the door, the view opened up dramatically onto a spacious, open-air crescent-shaped terrace.
The night breeze was even more refreshing up here, carrying the distinctive crisp scent of high altitude, instantly dispersing the lingering warmth from the bathroom below.
The terrace’s edge was lined with waist-high railings inlaid with magical Crystals—safe yet unobstructing to the view.
Several comfortable lounge chairs draped with soft cushions and a small round table had already been arranged. On the table, chilled specialty drinks from Melis’s tavern and several plates of elegant bar snacks awaited them.
“Hold on tight, ladies!” Mo Lan winked playfully with her left eye, her face alight with the excitement of someone about to showcase a beloved creation. Before her friends could fully react, she gave a light snap of her fingers.
“Hmmm…”
An extremely faint, nearly imperceptible tremor of Mana rippled outward from the castle’s very core, spreading instantly throughout the entire Traveler.
A muffled rumble came from where the base met the ground. The massive feet, covered in rock-like textures and powerfully built, began to glow with a soft magical light at their joints as they flexed and adjusted their angles with fluid precision.
The entire castle groaned with a deep “creak” in response, as if stretching after a great yawn, then slowly rose from its previously “crouching” posture and stood up!
But that wasn’t all.
The castle’s great feet lifted and set down again gently, each stride steady and light. Though every step covered dozens of meters, it miraculously left no deep footprints in the ground and produced no thunderous stomping sounds.
The grass below was merely brushed by a gentle current of air, bowing slightly before springing back to its original state. The castle began to stroll at a leisurely pace across the moonlit Emerald Creek Plains.
Looking down from the high terrace, the winding streams below shimmered like silver ribbons under the moonlight, flowing quietly. The night breeze caressed their faces, carrying the fragrance of grass, earth, and distant wildflowers.
“It’s so beautiful…” Lilith unconsciously took two steps forward, resting her hands gently on the Crystal railing, gazing at the scenery gliding slowly past, whispering in admiration.
“The stability is incredible!” Vasida also walked to the railing’s edge, picking up her wine glass and taking a delicate sip. The liquid in the glass showed almost no unnatural movement at all. “This running form—you got the inspiration from Zhizhi, didn’t you?”
Sylph’s gaze fell upon the vines winding along the castle’s outer walls and rooftop, which were now flowing with glimmering starlight as the castle moved.
“Is the propulsion coming from these vines? Are they absorbing the power of the stars?” She could feel the active, pure power of the stars coursing through the vines.
Mo Lan nodded and walked over to stand among her friends. “Exactly. The castle’s ‘running mode’ was designed based on Zhizhi’s innate ability. Right now it’s only at the gentlest sightseeing speed. If needed, it can switch to high-speed running mode, or even perform short-distance spatial ‘leaps’ similar to Zhizhi’s—much, much faster.”
She pointed at the glowing vines. “As for energy, just as Sylph said, the entire Traveler’s power source comes from this ‘Starvine,’ crafted from Stargleam Ancient Wood. It can absorb the power of the stars and convert it into pure Mana, storing it in the core magical array within the castle’s base. It drives locomotion, maintains the internal ecosystem, and supplies all magical facilities.
In theory, as long as it’s not continuously performing high-energy actions like ultra-high-speed travel or spatial leaps, it can run almost indefinitely through natural cycling.”
“I can already imagine the sensation it will cause when this walking, flying mobile castle appears near any town on the Continent of Valen!” Lilith swirled her wine glass gently.
Mo Lan reclined in her lounge chair and merely smiled at this. “A sensation? Perhaps I won’t deliberately conceal the Traveler’s presence, but it is also equipped with multiple layers of invisibility and illusion Magic. As long as I wish, it can vanish from most people’s sight, and even resist most magical detection. And besides…”
She deliberately drew out her words, keeping them in suspense. “The mobile castle doesn’t just have this one form, you know~”
“It can transform too?!” Vasida’s eyes widened in surprise, then she eagerly raised her glass. “Well then, over the next few days, we absolutely must explore and study this ‘mobile castle’ of yours thoroughly!”
Mo Lan clinked glasses with them, smiling. “I’d love nothing more. I specifically invited you all to join me for this first week’s ‘maiden voyage.’ Besides letting the children get together, wasn’t it precisely so I could show off my labor of love to you all!”
The Sorceresses relaxed into their comfortable chairs, and against the backdrop of the starry sky and the beautiful scenery of the Emerald Creek Plains, they began a long-overdue evening of conversation.
They shared hilarious and heartwarming stories about their daughters’ recent antics, exchanged notes on new discoveries and small obstacles in their respective magical research, and of course, discussed Mo Lan’s travel plans for the coming year in detail.
As they chatted, the conversation gradually drifted toward the more distant future.
“Once these little ones reach school age, the Witch Academy is going to be turned upside down.” Lilith imagined the scene of four little witches enrolling together and couldn’t help but smile.
“I’m already worried about what we’ll do if Little Tessa doesn’t get enough to eat at school!” Vasida thought about her daughter’s already considerable appetite with some concern.
“Don’t worry, there’s always Breadfruit. Besides, the childcare subsidies issued by the Witch Council already include a Dietary Fortification Card. Many young witches start building up their physical fitness from a young age. While none are quite as extreme as Little Tessa, they have big appetites too.” Sylph, having served as Headmistress before, knew more about these matters.
