Chapter Index

“Miss Sylvia (Tessa/Evelyn/Dorella), you have been granted admission to the Witch Academy. The enrollment ceremony will be held at 8 PM, seven days from now (July 10th).

At that time, the seal on your admission letter will activate automatically and transport you to the Witch Academy. Please be prepared.

All study materials and daily necessities during your time at the Academy will be provided by the Witch Academy.

Additionally, please ensure you are properly dressed in your School Robe when traveling to the Academy.

Enclosed with this letter is one {Tailoring Card – Academy School Robe}.

    —Headmistress of the Witch Academy”

By the shore of Spring Sight Lake, four young witches sat on the grass, reading and rereading their admission letters.

They had all been born on the same day, and received their letters on the same day too.

“We don’t start for another seven days…” Dorella said softly, her fingertip tracing the elegant script on the paper. “It seems there are young witches with even later birthdays than ours this year!”

Each year’s enrollment ceremony was held sometime between June and August, the exact date determined by the birthday of the last age-eligible young witch.

But Sylvia’s gaze had fallen on the signature at the bottom of the letter, her brow furrowing slightly. “That’s strange… this signature doesn’t match what’s described in the Mo Lan noticed it too—her daughter’s observation was sharp.

Sylvia’s gaze had fallen on the signature at the bottom of the letter, her brow furrowing slightly. “That’s strange… this signature doesn’t match what’s described in the Mo Lan noticed it too.

Sylvia’s gaze had fallen on the signature at the bottom of the letter, her brow furrowing slightly. “That’s strange… this signature doesn’t quite match what’s described in the 《Young Witch’s Primer》.”

“You’re right,” Evelyn said, also looking at the signature on her own admission letter, her voice carrying its usual unhurried cadence. “How come it doesn’t have the Headmistress’s name? It just says ‘Headmistress of the Witch Academy.'”

Tessa immediately held up her own letter, examining it from every angle. “Mine too!”

Dorella couldn’t help but look up toward Lilith, who was leisurely sipping tea not far away. “Mama! Do you know who the Headmistress of the Witch Academy is?”

Lilith exchanged a glance with Mo Lan, Vasida, and Sylph, then smiled and shook her head. “Not really. I’ve only heard that Lady Celia has stepped down, and as for who the new Headmistress is… we haven’t received any news either.”

“Oh well…” Dorella withdrew her gaze with some disappointment and looked back down at the letter in her hands.

But Sylvia rested her chin in her hand, staring at the signature line in a daze. “I keep feeling… this handwriting looks a bit familiar…” She paused, then added uncertainly, “It seems… a bit like Mama’s writing?”

“Huh?” Hearing this, Evelyn also studied her own letter carefully. “Now that you mention it, I think so too… the way the strokes turn and taper—it does look a bit like my mama’s style!”

Dorella and Tessa hurried to examine their own admission letters, and the more they looked, the more the curves and flowing connections really did bear a certain resemblance to their own mothers’ everyday handwriting.

    “It looks like Mama’s writing!”

    “Mine too!”

    The two spoke almost simultaneously.

However, only the young witch herself could see the contents of her admission letter, so they couldn’t compare each other’s letters to confirm the handwriting.

But all four of them thought the writing resembled their own mother’s, and since there was only one Headmistress of the Witch Academy, this was clearly impossible.

“It’s probably just our imagination,” Sylvia was the first to shake her head, trying to dispel the peculiar thought. “Official documents probably all use this kind of neat script—they all look more or less the same!”

“Mm, must be our imagination.” Evelyn nodded too, her gaze sweeping toward their mothers chatting and laughing softly nearby, looking perfectly normal.

Mama had been by her side all along—how could she possibly have gone off to become Headmistress?

“But still…” Dorella cradled her face in both hands, gazing at Lilith with pure adoration in her eyes. “Mama is so amazing. If she really could go be Headmistress at the Academy, or even just teach us plant-care Magic, that would be so wonderful…”

Having crammed an enormous amount of plant cultivation Magic and knowledge over the past few years for her daughter’s sake—while in truth still not particularly passionate about gardening—Lilith guiltily raised her teacup upon hearing this.

The four of them had indeed already taken on the role of Headmistress of the Witch Academy together, though the plant-related courses were Sylph’s responsibility.

Sylvia also looked toward her own mother. “If my mama became Headmistress, she could probably teach every single subject!”

In all the years of traveling abroad, she had never encountered anything her mother couldn’t do.

She pulled out a notebook, its pages packed full of things she had encountered during their travels—subjects her mother had even given her simple introductions to, but which she hadn’t been able to study in depth because she was too young.

Tessa leaned over to look. “‘Study Checklist’?”

Sylvia nodded. “Things I want to learn once I start school.”

The young witches were all quite looking forward to school by now, and upon hearing this, they all crowded around to flip through it. What they saw would stay with them for the rest of their lives:

“Arithmetic ★★★★★ (You need to know how to do accounts if you want to open a shop and make money. Hiring an accountant isn’t expensive, but training a familiar that can do math is very hard. Importance: five stars. Must learn after starting school.)

Alchemy Magic ★★★★★ (A beast hide worth 500 Gem Coins, once made into armor or a cloak with Alchemy Magic, sells for 10,000 Gem Coins and adventurers fight over it. That’s 20x profit. Importance: five stars. Must learn after starting school. Only by earning enough money can you be as free as Mama!)

Culinary Magic ★★★★☆ (Mama’s restaurant was so popular. Those dishes aren’t even available in the Card Shop, and I loved them so much. Too bad the restaurant was only open for a week, and I’ll never get to eat those dishes again. But Mama gave me her 《Private Recipe Collection》. Once I learn Culinary Magic, I can try making them myself. Maybe after graduation I could even open a restaurant to make money! Profits aren’t as high as Alchemy though. Importance: four stars.)

    …”

“Isn’t this way too much?” Evelyn exclaimed in shock, flipping from front to back. “How many years would it take to learn all of this?!”

“My mama said that we Sorceresses live very long lives, and our All-Element Magic talent is Unlimited. As long as you’re willing to put in the time, you can definitely learn whatever you want!” Sylvia wasn’t the least bit worried about not being able to finish.

Hearing this, Vasida looked at Mo Lan. “So you’re the ultimate overachiever, and you’ve raised a little overachiever?”

Mo Lan shook her head. “Sylvia is nothing like me.”

Her daughter’s desire to learn was entirely driven by practical needs and genuine interest. Back in her own day, Mo Lan had also carried the weight of her worries about Earth deep in her heart—the urgency had been far greater.

A thirteenth birthday was very important for witches, and with the added joy of reunion after a long separation, they naturally stayed up a bit late.

Deep into the night, the young witches had all drifted off to sleep. The Sorceresses, who had long since lost any need for sleep, gathered together once more.

Lilith waved her hand to open a transport passage and gestured for Mo Lan to enter. “You’re the last one.”

Mo Lan’s figure vanished into the transport passage.

The next moment, in the Headmistress’s Lounge beneath the Academy Castle in the Witch Academy Semi-Plane, the Headmistress avatars turned to look at Mo Lan, who had suddenly appeared.

These Headmistress avatars had eyes like Mo Lan’s, hair like Vasida’s, skin like Sylph’s, and a figure like Lilith’s—combining the physical features of all four of them. They resembled each of them, yet looked exactly like none of them.

The Headmistress avatars wore earrings of different colors: red, green, and black.

“You’re finally here!” said the Headmistress avatar wearing red earrings.

“The new 《Cultivation Plan》 has been approved by the Witch Council, but the specifics of how to implement it still need your final say…” A Headmistress avatar wearing green earrings walked over.

The Headmistress avatar wearing black earrings tossed a handful of ordinary Mana crystals into her mouth. “Come on! Let’s get to work!”

Mo Lan nodded and took out the Headmistress’s Golden Chalice to bind it to herself.

Moments later, new Headmistress avatars materialized one by one, all wearing purple earrings. Meanwhile, her true body opened a transport passage of her own and returned to the lakeside cottage.
