Interdimensional Lodge

Interdimensional Lodge is a sci-fi adventure novel by the Qidian platinum author Yuan Tong, set in a shared universe with his previous work Embers of the Deep Sea. The protagonist, Yu Sheng, is an ordinary young man living an unremarkable life until the day he opens his front door and finds himself plunged into a hidden city called Boundary City that exists beneath the surface of the everyday world — a place teeming with anomalous entities, supernatural phenomena, and truths about reality that ordinary people never perceive. Yu Sheng discovers he has two unusual abilities: he can die and resurrect repeatedly without permanent consequence, and he can open doors to travel to other locations entirely. Accompanied by a lively, wisecracking doll who lives inside a painting on his wall — a character connected to the previous novel’s universe — he gradually builds an informal organization called the Interdimensional Inn to handle anomalous events, eventually growing from a small scrappy team into an outfit with their own converted spaceship conducting cross-planetary adventures. The tone is deliberately lighter and more comedic than Yuan Tong’s previous two novels, blending everyday slice-of-life humor with escalating cosmic stakes and a cast of eccentric supernatural companions.
