Chapter 1025 – Mo Lan’s Lazy Daily Life 10
by spirapiraLittle Leila compared it to her own thigh, then tilted her head up to look at Zhizhi, who now towered far above her. Her eyes went wide with astonishment, her mouth forming a perfect O: “Big Zhizhi?”
She circled halfway around the enlarged Zhizhi, curiously looking her up and down. “Zhizhi, how did you suddenly get so big?”
Mo Lan couldn’t help but laugh. She crouched down and explained, “Zhizhi is a high-level magical beast with certain innate abilities. Growing bigger and smaller is one of them!”
“Magical beasts… can get bigger?” Little Leila only half understood, but the concept of “getting bigger” clearly fascinated her beyond measure. “Then… how big can she get? As big as this tree?”
She pointed at the enormous hollow tree they were standing in.
Zhizhi immediately straightened up with pride: “Of course!”
“Wooow—!” Little Leila’s eyes instantly blazed with a light even more fervent than when she’d been on the swing. “I wanna see! Big sister Moira! I wanna see Zhizhi get as big as she possibly can! As big as a mountain!”
She grabbed Mo Lan’s hand and shook it, her little face written all over with eager pleading.
Mo Lan looked at Zhizhi, who was nodding excitedly, clearly more than happy to show off her “true abilities” in front of little Leila.
“Alright then, but we can’t do it near the treehouse—it’ll knock things over. How about we go out to the Sea of Roses?” Mo Lan took little Leila’s hand.
“Yes!”
Zhizhi leaped from the treetop platform. Her silver fur rippled without any wind, and her body began to swell at a speed visible to the naked eye, until she stood a full head taller than the mutant hollow tree.
She lowered her head. Her enormous yet still lively eyes peered down at little Leila on the treetop platform, and from her throat came an earth-shaking rumble: “Well? Big enough?”
“So… so awesome!” Little Leila gazed up at her with sheer adoration. “Really as big as a mountain! Big Zhizhi is so cool!”
Mo Lan gave Sentai a look, and Sentai understood immediately.
Several thick main vines swiftly extended from its body, nimbly weaving and threading across Zhizhi’s broad, flat shoulders.
Before long, three sturdy, comfortable “vine seats” complete with simple safety railings had taken shape, positioned right on Zhizhi’s shoulders—safe, with an absolutely spectacular view.
“Want to sit up there and take a look?” Mo Lan looked down and asked little Leila.
“Can I?!” Little Leila’s eyes overflowed with longing.
“Of course!”
Zhizhi extended her hand and lifted them up onto the seats.
“Zhizhi, take us for a ‘run’ through the Sea of Roses! Be careful though, not too fast,” Mo Lan said.
Zhizhi’s massive head bobbed up and down, and she let out a soft hum of acknowledgment. Then she turned and began to stride forward.
She walked with light, steady steps. Sitting on Zhizhi’s shoulders, little Leila felt as though she were truly “sailing over a sea of flowers.”
On both sides, walls of rose blooms rushed past like waves of pink. Overhead stretched the azure sky. The wind carried the rich fragrance of flowers straight into their faces, drawing gasp after gasp of wonder from her.
“Wow! We’re flying above the flowers!”
A child’s pure joy is always especially infectious. Watching little Leila wave her arms and shout, her little face flushed red with excitement, Mo Lan felt as if she were seeing herself the first time Zhizhi had carried her.
They spent most of the day riding the giant Zhizhi through the Sea of Roses on their grand “parade,” playing wildly, and even had a wonderfully unconventional lunch on Zhizhi’s broad, steady shoulders. It wasn’t until the afternoon sun grew a bit too scorching that the seemingly inexhaustible little one finally began losing the battle with her eyelids, drifting off into a drowsy sleep.
Only then did Mo Lan carry her back to the mutant hollow tree.
She had just settled the peacefully sleeping little Leila into the small bed in the children’s room and tucked the blanket around her when the vine-woven communication bracelet on her left wrist began to gently vibrate.
She tapped it open, and a message from Sylph popped up:
【Sylph: Are you there?】
【Sylph: I’m back!】
A hint of a smile flickered in Mo Lan’s eyes as she replied:
【Moira: Finally back! I’m at the Sea of Roses just outside Sunset Forest. Sending you the coordinates.】
She sent over the precise spatial coordinates of the mutant hollow tree.
From upstairs came the sound of little Leila’s steady breathing. Zhizhi and Sentai had stationed themselves in the children’s room of their own accord—one curled up on a soft cushion napping, the other climbing along the walls.
Clack sat silently to one side, reviewing the day’s footage.
Mo Lan tiptoed downstairs and sat by the window in the Living Room. From her cards she produced an elegant set of white porcelain tea ware and a small canister of tea leaves, then began to brew tea at a leisurely pace.
Hot water poured in, the tea leaves unfurled, and a fresh, delicate fragrance curled upward, mingling with the natural woody scent inside the treehouse, bringing a sense of calm to the mind.
The tea had just finished steeping when a green figure came bursting through the door in a whirlwind of energy.
“Phew—! Finally back in Valen! Nothing smells as good as the air at home!” The moment Sylph appeared, she flung herself with zero composure onto the soft sofa across from Mo Lan and let out a long, relieved sigh.
She wore a spring forest-themed Witch’s robe with an elegant, natural cut. The main color palette was a layered blend of greens in varying shades, as if she’d draped a concentrated, vibrant forest over her body.
But even more eye-catching were the sparkly accessories adorning her: glittering dragon-scale hair clips, a gleaming gold necklace, gemstone bracelets in every color of the rainbow…
“What’s this? Judging by all that ‘sparkle’ you’re wearing, you must have adapted pretty well to life as a green Dragon in the Seran world?”
Mo Lan slid a cup of freshly brewed tea toward her with a teasing smile.
All those glittering, gleaming accessories—the old Sylph would never have worn them.
As a Sorceress, if she truly disliked them, even the green Dragon bloodline wouldn’t have influenced her to this degree.
Sylph picked up the teacup, took a big gulp, and smacked her lips before speaking. “Being a green Dragon is great, but the growth speed is absolutely grueling! You have no idea—I collected every single known and unknown magical plant seed on the entire Seran Mainland and cultivated them all, and my Dragon lineage inheritance memories still haven’t even unlocked halfway!
Thank goodness for Lilith! She sampled and researched blood from all the major Dragon branches and developed the blood fusion spell, which massively accelerated our bloodline growth. Otherwise, I don’t know how long I’d have been stuck in Thelan!
The Seran world is nice and all, but Valen is our home. When you’ve been away too long, you just want to hurry back, and only once you’re here does your heart truly settle.”
“What about Lilith and Vasida? Are they coming back soon too?” Mo Lan asked.
“Mm, they should be back before long. Senior Traci will probably need to stay in Thelan a while longer though.” Sylph’s face took on an expression of admiration. “She’s also atavized into a high Elf. She’s incredible now—she went and became the Headmistress of Starlight Magic Academy, and she’s thrown herself headfirst into cutting-edge Astral Elf magic research. She’s in her element!”
