Chapter Index

    “Did you see Moira yesterday?”

    “No. Did you?”

    “Me neither.”

    “…”

Sylph and Vasida looked at each other, then let out a simultaneous sigh.

Although they were at the Academy, watched over by the Headmistress, and the young witches were quite safe, they were still a little worried.

Because they hadn’t seen Mo Lan in an entire week.

    It was too strange.

Even though Mo Lan no longer had classes to attend and could arrange her time freely, with her habits, she would still go to the Academy Castle every day to read Mo-Pic books, or go outside to practice Magic!

“On the clothesline in Moira’s backyard, new nightgowns are hung up every day, which means she probably hasn’t left the Dormitory at all.”

“In the Broomstick Grass field of Greenhouse No. 1, Moira’s Broomstick Grass is growing normally, so she must be going to Attune it every day.”

“But this whole week, I haven’t seen any smoke coming from the chimney of No. 69, and I haven’t smelled any cooking aromas drifting from over there either.”

    “Me neither.”

    “…”

Sylph and Vasida ultimately decided to go to Mo Lan’s Dormitory that evening after class to check on her.

That evening, Mo Lan—who had been buried in her book, oblivious to the passage of time—heard a knock at the door. She floated over on her Grimoire to the entrance and opened the Dormitory door.

Vasida and Sylph saw the little Sorceress with her hair hanging loose, wearing a baggy nightgown, looking completely unkempt, yet with eyes sparkling with vitality, still unwilling to put down her book even to answer the door. They couldn’t help but voice the question that had been nagging them for days:

“What have you been up to lately? How have you gone so many days without eating again?”

Mo Lan patted the book in her hands. “Reading Mo Lan patted the book in her hands. “Reading 《The Path of the Sorceress》. The senior students are graduating on Independence Day, and I want to develop a basic version of my Sorceress Magic before then. Time is a bit tight, so I’ve been making do with Breadfruit Cake to save time.”

“Mo Lan patted the book in her hands. “Reading 《The Path of the Sorceress》?” That book written by the Sorceress predecessors about Sorceresses?” Sylph and Vasida asked in surprise.

Mo Lan had already begun researching Sorceress Magic!

Independence Day? There wasn’t much time left until Independence Day.

“That’s right! The book is really fascinating! You two absolutely must read it carefully when you have time!” Mo Lan strongly recommended.

Even as she spoke, she couldn’t help sneaking glances at the book—she had just reached a crucial part.

“Alright then! Keep at it! We just came to remind you that the Sewing Magic class is basically wrapping up today. Amisha said the final exams start next Monday, so don’t forget to show up!”

Sylph and Vasida could tell that Mo Lan’s mind was still on the book.

That was just how she was—once she started studying, she couldn’t stop. Eating, sleeping, everything else could wait.

Knowing she was in her Dormitory researching Sorceress Magic, they felt reassured.

They also needed to hurry and finish their Sewing Magic coursework to prepare for the final exams.

Mo Lan closed the door and hurried back to her desk. She had just reached a critical point about Sorceress Magic!

“…The difficulty of Sorceress Magic lies not in sharing it, but in our own understanding of our exclusive Mana!

Sharing Sorceress Magic is simple—you just need to use my Contract Magic to write a contract.

With my Contract Magic, theoretically anything can be traded—money, Mana, Magic, even blood or one’s body!

Of course, the prerequisite is that whatever you’re trading truly belongs to you!

However, it’s important to note that some things you might assume belong to you don’t actually fully belong to you at all. Naturally, trying to trade them through a contract would be impossible.

The most easily confused issue is the ownership of Magic.

For example: can a witch who has mastered broomstick flight share her flight Magic with someone else through Contract Magic?

Can a witch who has mastered Elemental Magic share the Elemental Magic she knows with someone else through Contract Magic?

No, she cannot. Even if the first witch to discover broomstick flight or Elemental Magic were still alive, they would not be able to share their discovered Magic with others the way a Sorceress shares Sorceress Magic.

Because the ownership of that Magic does not rest with them.

They can only be considered discoverers of Magic—possessors of magical knowledge, not possessors of the Magic itself.

They can trade the legacy of their discovered magical knowledge through contracts, but they cannot trade the Magic itself.

So if an ordinary transcendent invents some new Magic, or learns some unique Magic in another world, and wants to safely trade it to a select group of people, they would use my Contract Magic to sign a contract—trading the magical knowledge to others while restricting their right to pass on that knowledge, thus protecting their own interests.

The person who receives the knowledge merely learns the path and method for studying that Magic—it doesn’t mean they possess the ability to actually master it.

The ownership of Magic does not rest in individual hands. Individuals cannot trade Magic itself.

Individuals only possess the right to use Magic—what we commonly call talent.

The talent of witches, the talent of angels, the talent of demons—all are rights of Magic usage granted by Valen.

Only we Sorceresses are the exception.

Sorceress Magic originates from our exclusive Mana. It is an ability that truly belongs to us, and therefore Sorceress Magic also belongs to the Sorceress herself.

What we share through Contract Magic is not magical knowledge.

Here, you must remember one crucial point: although we hold ownership of our Sorceress Magic, what we trade and share must always be only the right to use the Magic—never the Magic itself!

Trading the right of usage means allowing others to also qualify to use Sorceress Magic, but the ownership remains in our hands. Those who have signed a Sorceress Magic contract can master the Magic directly without needing to study magical knowledge.

But if you were to trade the Magic itself, that would mean transferring ownership. We would lose ownership of our Sorceress Magic and, with it, the Magic entirely.

This point must be engraved in every Sorceress’s heart! Exclusive Mana is the foundation of our power. It must never be traded away. And never let outsiders know that magical ownership can be traded through contracts—that would invite unwanted covetous attention.

Once you understand that a Sorceress Magic contract trades only usage rights, you won’t make any serious mistakes when writing a Sorceress Contract.

You simply need to decide which portion of your Magic’s usage rights you intend to trade, and what price the contracting party must pay, and then you can formulate your own contract template.

Finally, you will also need to learn the Golden Pen Technique and the Mailbox Technique.

The Golden Pen Technique can be used to sign and write contracts.

The Mailbox Technique can be used to receive and process contracts.

All contracts that anyone attempts to sign with you will appear in the Contract Mailbox.

By setting certain restriction clauses for the Contract Mailbox, it can automatically filter out those contractors who don’t meet the requirements.”
