Chapter 381 – Beginner Management Card

Semi-finished cards were originally meant for Sorceresses, letting them fill in the final gap in card-making for their own Sorceress Magic-related cards.

But for Lady Aeltis, that wasn’t necessary.

Because the Book of Cards could handle the entire production of beverage cards.

Lady Aeltis only needed to provide a single sample.

Her semi-finished cards were really just a matter of handing over control of the final step of card completion to her.

Once Lady Aeltis had gotten the hang of it, Mo Lan and the others took their leave.

Mo Lan gazed at the bonfires of all sizes scattered across the island, her eyes burning with eagerness. “Lilith, while we still have tonight, let’s go negotiate more card authorizations!”

Lilith’s heart skipped a beat. “How many Management Cards are you planning to hand out?”

That would mean so many more competitors for her!

With every new card pool added, wouldn’t fewer people come to draw from the blood card pool?

“The more the better!” Mo Lan said. “The more card varieties there are in the Card Shop, the better the experience for everyone using Card Magic, and the more often they’ll use it. Higher usage means sales will definitely reach new heights! We’re about to head out into the Wilds to sell Magic, and who knows what types of cards those outsider races prefer! Only when we have every kind of card imaginable—when they can’t live without them, when they can’t bear to lose them—will they willingly sign contracts and become supporters of the Sorceresses.”

The way Lilith looked at Mo Lan was like she was staring at some great dark overlord. “I was thinking too small. Let’s go! I’ll take you on a sweep through the bonfire market!”

They had barely left Lady Aeltis’s stall when Mo Lan’s gaze was drawn to a pink bonfire. “Lilith, look—is that Iris by that pink bonfire?”

Lilith had already spent a year in Witch’s Town and knew most of the witches there. She recognized them at a glance:

“That bonfire belongs to Iris’s mother, the Culinary Witch Kira.

Kira’s dessert shop is quite famous in Witch’s Town. I’ve heard she once traveled across most of the Continent of Valen with her desserts.

Some outsider races who didn’t know the truth called her a blessed Angel who brought sweet delicacies…”

“An Angel? Are they blind?” Mo Lan asked. “Why do they have to credit every good thing to Angels? She doesn’t even have wings!”

“Mm… Lady Kira was quite angry when she found out. From then on, any outsider who came to buy her desserts had to answer a question first…” Lilith could barely hold back her laughter as she spoke.

“What question?” Mo Lan asked curiously.

“Tell me, dear customer—are witch desserts tastier, or Angel desserts?” Lilith asked Mo Lan with an exaggerated wink.

“Witch desserts, obviously!” Mo Lan answered without hesitation.

As far as she knew, Heaven’s Peak was an absolute culinary wasteland!

“Then congratulations, you may now purchase a serving of a witch’s supremely delicious dessert,” Lilith said.

Mo Lan guessed what was coming. “And if someone answers ‘Angel’…”

“Then they get a serving of Angel cuisine—the dark variety. With meat!” Lilith said. “Kira’s desserts make you feel like you’re in heaven, but Kira’s meat dishes… I’ve heard they’re more terrifying than a Demon’s whisper. So much so that to this day, ‘Angel desserts’ is still a synonym for ‘poison’ across the continent.”

“Did Iris grow up eating Lady Kira’s meat dishes?” Mo Lan was now very curious. “Is that why she loves cooking meat so much—because she couldn’t get a decent meat dish as a child?!”

    Childhood compensatory behavior!

“Why don’t you go ask her?” Lilith egged her on.

Mo Lan hastily shook her head. “I’m afraid Lady Kira would ‘gift’ me a serving of ‘Angel desserts.’ Come on! Let’s go ask her if she’d be willing to partner with me to sell dessert cards!”

“Lady Kira’s meat dishes may taste terrible, but they’re not actually poisonous. She’s currently still an Advanced witch, working toward Peak level. Her desserts are a feast for the taste buds, but the ingredients are all from Valen—not like Lady Aeltis’s wines, which have all sorts of miraculous effects. I don’t think that’s enough to sustain a card pool, is it?” Lilith said.

“What does that matter?” Mo Lan pulled out a card and showed it to Lilith.

“{Management Card (Unbound) – Low}?” Lilith asked, puzzled. “Since when did Management Cards have a low-level version?”

“Just now,” Mo Lan said. “A low-level Management Card lets you list your own cards in the Card Shop, but you can’t open a dedicated card pool. Once the quality and quantity of cards under management reach a certain standard, the Management Card can be upgraded to unlock the right to operate an exclusive card pool. This way, won’t everyone who receives a Management Card work hard to research new things and expand their card library?

What do you think—should I just give this card to every witch? Would it spark their passion for research?

After all, creating all sorts of cards has been a very important source of motivation for my studies!”

    Lilith: “…”

The phrase “motivation for studies” sounded awfully familiar!

Wasn’t that exactly what the description said for the recently listed {Practice Quiz Card -Mo Lan’s “Witch Academy Graduation Exam”}?

When that card came out, so many witches were grateful they had already graduated!

    Lilith was among them.

But thinking about it carefully, Mo Lan actually had a very good point.

After she had gotten her Management Card and discovered that researching more processed and analyzed blood cards could earn her disposable Mana, hadn’t her enthusiasm for blood analysis grown even stronger?

Over the past year in Witch’s Town, she had collected who knows how many blood samples from various outsider races.

Though the variety of blood samples had grown, the quantity of each was insufficient—still not enough for her to extract even a single outsider race’s blood abilities.

Mana was money, and earning money was the greatest motivator of all!

Lilith said, “I support you! This {Management Card} really would be a huge research motivator for the witches.” Much more tactful than the {Practice Quiz Card}.

Mo Lan smiled and nodded. The next moment, every witch who had purchased Card Magic received a new card.
