Chapter 395 – Carrying Hidden Treasure

“Store everything you see and hear in your mind as clearly as constructing a meditation image?”

Vasida glanced at the “Sky Meditation Image 1” in the Grimoire beside her — the one she’d stared at so many times she could practically vomit — and asked in disbelief, “Are you sure?”

Only someone who had personally practiced meditation could understand how difficult it was to reproduce an image clearly in one’s mind without forgetting it.

Memories were always blurry and lacking in detail, and they only grew hazier with the passage of time.

“I’m sure,” Mo Lan said. “It probably has something to do with me being a Soul from Another World.”

She had finally come to realize just how precious the planetary memories Earth had bestowed upon her truly were — along with the force that had protected her soul as it wandered through the cosmos searching for a place to be reborn.

They had enormously developed her psychic power.

“How much is ‘a massive amount of psychic power’ exactly?” Lilith asked curiously.

“Probably at least enough to construct a meditation image containing an entire world!” Mo Lan said.

Lilith drew a sharp breath. “Containing an entire world?”

“At least?” Vasida caught the key word.

“The 《Sky Meditation Image》 says that anyone who can fully visualize ‘Sky Meditation Image 1’ within a week is a once-in-a-generation genius among mages, guaranteed to have at least Beyond Peak level talent.

But Moira, you’ve been able to meditate on images a hundred times more complex than the final Sky Meditation Image since the day you were born… You’re not just a mage genius — even the greatest mage in the Mage Empire probably can’t match your psychic power, can they?” Sylph murmured in a daze.

    Mo Lan: “…”

Honestly, she didn’t know exactly how much psychic power she could currently draw upon either.

However: “The reason I have a good memory is because my psychic power is strong. Haven’t you all always envied my ability to remember everything at a glance? Now it seems clear — just diligently practice meditation techniques and train your psychic power, and you can achieve it too.”

“That’s true!” For the first time, Lilith regarded the meditation technique in her hands with genuine seriousness. “I won’t dream of training to your level, but even a slight improvement over what I have now would save me so much effort in studying.”

There was still a difference between one’s innate psychic power and psychic power converted from mana.

The former existed permanently and could aid memory and learning. The latter couldn’t remain in the body for long after conversion and could only be used to cast mage magic.

“Mages really do hide their secrets well!” Vasida said. “Everyone says human mages are each smarter than the last, that they’re all brilliant scholars — turns out it’s because of their active psychic power.”

“Mage magic isn’t all that impressive, but their meditation techniques are quite remarkable.” Sylph also decided to practice meditation seriously.

Who among them hadn’t been stunned by Mo Lan’s learning speed at some point?

Everyone knew that Mo Lan’s rapid learning wasn’t just because she was exceptionally hardworking and diligent, but also because of her ability to remember everything at a glance.

Before, there had been no way to match her, and they’d simply accepted it. But now that there was a way to close the gap, how could they possibly let it go?

While the three of them continued meditating, Mo Lan turned her attention to studying her own psychic power.

Her psychic power was so abundant — could she convert it into mana to replenish her mana reserves?

As it turned out, she could.

Sorceresses could freely convert mana into other forms of energy, but they couldn’t freely convert other energies that didn’t belong to them into mana.

Vasida’s ability to convert food energy into mana through the Devouring Stomach was a rather rare gift.

Other Sorceresses could only use Contract Magic to turn someone else’s energy into their own, and then convert it into mana for absorption.

Psychic power was also her own energy, so theoretically she should be able to freely convert it into mana.

Mo Lan gave it a try, and indeed — it really worked!

This essentially meant that beyond her Energy Storage Cards, she possessed a second mana bar. And it was one whose depths she hadn’t yet found the bottom of.

According to 《The Origin of Psychic Power》, after expending psychic power, it could be recovered through rest or meditation.

Rounding up, this meant she could recover psychic power through meditation, and thereby recover her mana.

Moreover, her meditation image was the most vast of all, so her meditation efficiency was extremely high, and the recovery effects would be excellent.

The only issue was that psychic power and mana existed at different energy levels.

It might take a large amount of psychic power to convert into just 1 Mana of mana. When converted to mana, the total probably wasn’t as impressive.

Mo Lan tested it out. She channeled half her mana into the Book of Cards, kept the other half, then converted psychic power into mana to fully restore her reserves.

Finally, she spread out the Earth Natural Memory Scroll in her mind and began meditating. In just three seconds, Mo Lan discovered that her psychic power had already returned to its peak state.

She had just restored psychic power equivalent to at least 3,300 Mana — and it had only taken three seconds.

“That’s insane?” Mo Lan could hardly believe it.

She tested it several more times, and the results were consistent!

What did she even need Energy Storage Cards for? If she ran out of mana, she could just meditate for a moment!

She had only unrolled the Earth Natural Memory Scroll just now — she hadn’t even added the Earth Civilization Memory Scroll, the Stellar Wandering Memory Scroll, or the Valen Memory Scroll!

If she meditated with all of them at once, couldn’t she restore her psychic power in the blink of an eye?

Mo Lan could only curse herself for not discovering the uses of meditation sooner.

If she had figured this out earlier, would she have needed to scrimp and save her mana every day during practice, always keeping half her reserves intact just to maintain her recovery capacity?

And all those Breadfruits she’d forced herself to eat raw just to restore mana — those days of grimacing at the sourness…

Even now, just thinking about it brought a familiar sour taste surging up in her chest.

It turned out all that suffering had been completely unnecessary!

As a child, she’d wondered why her golden finger never seemed to arrive. Now she finally understood — Mother Earth had deposited her golden finger long ago.

Reading more really did pay off. Otherwise, she’d have been sitting on a treasure trove without even knowing it.

Beyond using psychic power as a second mana bar for recovery, psychic power could also be used to cast mage magic.

Casting mage magic with psychic power should theoretically be more energy-efficient than casting directly with mana.

This was because mage magic utilized the attraction and influence that psychic power exerted on elemental force, using psychic power as a lever to move the ambient elemental force in the environment, guiding elemental force to produce magical reactions according to the psychic power’s direction.

Witch Magic, on the other hand, truly converted one’s own magical power or mana into the corresponding elemental force for spellcasting.

One approach required only a small effort from the caster, letting the free-floating natural elemental force do most of the heavy lifting.

The other required the caster to provide everything.

Which method incurred less cost was quite easy to distinguish.

The only caveat was that the former had lower energy consumption but relied on the environment, making it susceptible to environmental influence.

The latter had higher energy consumption but relied entirely on oneself, unaffected by external conditions.

Mo Lan had always planned to learn more about different magical systems so she could eventually find a form of magic suitable for Earth’s humans. Now, with such powerful psychic power, every obstacle to learning mage magic had been cleared away. She had even more reason to study it properly.

She took out the foundational mage magic textbook series that Grandma Dayla had given her and began reading carefully.
