    Chapter 400 – Infinite Anticipation

Although Lady Traci had said very little about the inner workings of the Well of the Sky in this book, Mo Lan could still clearly sense the infinite possibilities within it.

If anything was possible, then finding Earth and saving it should be possible too!

Most crucially, Lady Traci had written in the book that after surpassing Peak level and truly ranking up, there was no upper limit to one’s energy rank.

This path to power had no end.

If one hadn’t reached a certain level, it was either because their talent was insufficient or their ability was lacking. Find a way to supplement talent and ability, and one could continue moving forward.

The true value of a Sorceress’s unlimited All-Element Magic talent lay in what came after ranking up.

A Sorceress’s talent was unrestricted — she only needed to improve her ability to advance step by step.

Mo Lan couldn’t help but feel infinite anticipation welling up inside her.

She had originally thought that since her Mana rank was already at Peak level, surpassing Peak level was just one step away.

Once she left the Wilds, she could sell more magic and break through quickly.

Only her magic level still needed some effort.

Now she realized that Beyond Peak level was merely a starting point.

Not only was her magic level still far from where it needed to be, her Mana rank was far off too!

Moreover, 《Beyond the World’s Starting Point》 stated that as more and more powerful individuals received invitations to enter the Well of the Sky, Valen’s highest energy rank was no longer Peak level.

Gradually, some people were able to break through 10,000 Mana in the energy they controlled even before entering the Well of the Sky.

The Well of the Sky had correspondingly raised its entry requirements.

In the past, one could receive an invitation upon reaching Peak level. But now, one had to break through Peak level with a total energy exceeding 10,000 Mana before receiving an invitation from the Well of the Sky.

And this requirement was still gradually increasing.

Lady Traci had put forward a hypothesis in the book. Though it remained unverified, Mo Lan found it quite reasonable.

It suggested that the tempering of Valen’s powerful individuals in the Well of the Sky contributed to the strengthening of Valen’s world consciousness.

World consciousness and the life tier of Valen’s intelligent beings were closely correlated.

Therefore, the stronger the world consciousness became, the higher the upper limit of energy ranks for Valen’s beings.

This aligned with the insight the Departed Witch Ensemble had given her.

Mo Lan also finally understood why the Windowsills on the seventh and eighth floors of the Witch Council’s main fortress were all engraved with the advisory message: “Recommended for Peak level visitors only.”

She was already at Peak level, and upon learning about the ranks beyond Peak and the matters of the Well of the Sky, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of “So I’m still this weak.”

Let alone witches at even lower energy ranks.

One had to understand that even among witches — a people where everyone was a spellcaster — many spent their entire lives unable to break through to Peak level, let alone surpass Peak level and enter the Well of the Sky.

If they were to see all this, the sense of disparity would probably be even greater.

A witch’s magical energy originated from her Bloodline, which flowed through her body. Physical condition affected the growth of Mana, and psychological state affected physical condition.

Learning these things might actually have a negative impact on Mana growth.

Although Mo Lan discovered she was much weaker than she had imagined, and her goal seemed even further away, at least she now knew that as long as she was still alive, as long as she hadn’t given up on becoming stronger, she would draw closer to her goal step by step.

After the initial sense of disparity came an even more resolute heart for power.

Every word in this book had been completely memorized in Mo Lan’s mind.

There was no need to transcribe it into the Grimoire and take up pages. Though her Grimoire was at Peak level, it could store at most one million volumes — and those were standard volumes at that. Books with too much content had to be split into several volumes before they could be transcribed into the Grimoire.

After transcribing all the books from the Witch Academy Library, the one-million-volume capacity was already nearly exhausted.

Even though the seventh floor here had only one wall of large bookshelves, those shelves were two to three stories tall, and the wall was a curved wall encircling the entire Great Hall!

Even though many of the books were duplicates, Mo Lan estimated that the remaining blank pages in her Grimoire probably still wouldn’t be enough to transcribe all of them.

And there were still the Beyond Peak level magic books on the eighth floor!

Although everything before Peak level was considered Unranked, after Peak level there were First Rank, Second Rank, Third Rank, and even higher ranks. This meant that the predecessors’ Sorceress Magic should also have ranks higher than Peak level, and the corresponding magic books were probably stored on the eighth floor.

But Mo Lan herself was only at Peak level. Even if such books existed, with her energy rank, she couldn’t afford them.

Since she couldn’t upgrade her Grimoire’s level, she could only use her current capacity sparingly.

Mo Lan went ahead and deleted all the books she had previously finished reading from her Grimoire.

They had already become part of her memory, deeply engraved in her mind. If she wanted to review them, she could recall any of their contents at any time.

Now that the Grimoire’s capacity was tight, there was no need for them to remain inside taking up space.

After these books were purged, the corresponding pages were destroyed as well.

However, Mo Lan still had unused blank Parchment left over from her occasional Magic Infusion practice.

By directly fusing them into the Grimoire, they became blank pages ready for transcribing books.

The only issue was that these books, unlike those that came with a built-in Transcription Spell, required her to perform the transcription herself.

The process was a bit more troublesome.

Mo Lan took down a volume, placed it on the corresponding blank page of her Grimoire, and then cast the Transcription Spell on it.

Under the effect of the Transcription Spell, the book quickly began flipping from the first page onward.

Once the book had been flipped through from beginning to end, the blank page of the Grimoire now contained the book’s contents.

This volume had slightly less content than a standard volume, so this page still had some remaining capacity.

But it wasn’t enough to fit another volume.

By her calculations, with the Transcription Spell at Peak level, transcribing one book took only one to two seconds.

The time wasn’t bad, but the Mana consumption was considerable.

Transcribing this single volume, Mo Lan felt she had consumed at least 10 Mana.

And this was just one volume that didn’t even fill a standard volume’s worth, and it was a theoretical text without any illustrations.

Otherwise, the transcription cost would have been even greater.

Even for her, after transcribing several hundred books, the accumulated consumption would become unbearable.

In the past, Mo Lan would have had no choice but to use Energy Storage Cards and the disposable Mana she’d earned to restore her Mana for transcribing more books.

But now she only needed to convert her psychic power into Mana to replenish herself and continue transcribing.

One by one, books were taken down from the shelves and put back, while more and more of the blank pages in Mo Lan’s Grimoire were filled with newly transcribed content.

In three days, Mo Lan finished transcribing all the books on the seventh floor, then immediately headed to the eighth floor.
