    Chapter 572 – Blazing Breath

This was where Mo Lan’s experience learning Draconic came in handy.

Draconic pronunciation was rather awkward and difficult for human vocal organs, requiring a period of practice to master.

But Mo Lan had already learned Draconic long ago, and its pronunciation was no longer a challenge for her.

The Draconic used in everyday conversation and the Draconic used in dragon-tongue magic incantations were pronounced identically. The only difference was that for the latter, one had to make the dragon force attached to the vocal organs vibrate in unison with the sounds to produce the corresponding effects.

For Mo Lan, Draconic pronunciation posed no problem at all. She had also mastered the special pronunciation techniques for dragon-tongue magic incantations. All she needed was to memorize the incantations, and casting would be no issue.

With Mo Lan’s memory, even the longest dragon-tongue magic spell was just a matter of reading through it once.

What’s more, even adult dragon stage dragon-tongue magic incantations were nowhere near as long as Igniwa’s full name!

Blazing Breath, Lava Fire Rain, and Lava Scorched Earth were all wide-area destructive spells. Mo Lan certainly didn’t dare try them in the small Living Room.

She took out her Spatial Tent Card and went to the magic training room inside the tent to give it a try.

The magic training room had been upgraded, so practicing wide-area Peak level magic here was no problem at all.

    “ZARATHOS-KYTH! VORIX-FAAL! THROX-UMBRAX! IGNUM-DRAXIS! SOL-KAARN! XHAROTH-NETH!”

Mo Lan enunciated each word clearly. The dragon force attached to her throat vibrated with her voice, while her Mana continuously converted into dragon force, which the incantation then transformed into fire-element primal force.

The moment the incantation was complete, the conversion chain of Mana to fire-element primal force to dragon breath flame was formed. All Mo Lan needed to do was open her mouth, and an endless stream of dragon breath flame would erupt outward from her lips in a cone shape.

The radiation range, firepower intensity, and temperature were all completely under her control, though the greater the range, the greater the firepower, and the higher the temperature, the greater the consumption.

However, Blazing Breath’s range, flame temperature, and intensity all had upper limits, and these limits were determined by a Dragon’s total dragon force reserves.

Dragon-tongue magic was different from Witch Magic in that it had no clearly defined magic level classifications, so it couldn’t be improved through practice to raise its magic level.

Dragon-tongue magic was only categorized by growth stages: hatchling dragon, juvenile dragon, adolescent dragon, young dragon, and adult dragon stage magic.

Within each stage, magic differed only in effectiveness.

To put it simply, with the same investment of dragon force, hatchling dragon magic could only produce 1% of the effect, juvenile dragon magic produced 5%, adolescent dragon magic produced 10%, while young dragon magic produced 100% of the effect.

Within this range of effectiveness, the more dragon force invested, the more pronounced the improvement.

Lack of casting proficiency would only cause a spell to fail entirely — it would never reduce the spell’s effectiveness.

The only thing that could affect a spell’s effectiveness was the amount of dragon force invested.

That was why Dragons, when facing multiple opponents, habitually liked to pour all their dragon force into their strongest dragon-tongue magic at once, using wide-area destructive spells to reduce enemy numbers as much as possible, then relying on their formidable physical prowess to deal with the remaining survivors.

In Mo Lan’s view, this was somewhat similar to Lady Anita’s Firework Blast.

However, Lady Anita’s Firework Blast was more potent — with equal investment, it produced even more powerful effects, and it didn’t require lengthy incantations. Investing energy and releasing Firework Blast — those were the only two steps, making it practically instantaneous.

Moreover, the process of charging magical energy didn’t require concentration, so one could charge energy while simultaneously using items that restored magical energy, producing Firework Blast effects far exceeding one’s own capabilities.

Dragons couldn’t do this when casting dragon-tongue magic. Concentration was required while chanting the incantation, and it was impossible to restore dragon force while simultaneously using dragon-tongue magic. Thus, the upper limit of dragon-tongue magic was far lower than that of Firework Blast.

For Mo Lan, however, her dragon force was converted from Mana, so the effectiveness of her dragon force depended on how much Mana she could invest at once — which was tied to her total Mana reserves.

The Dawn Society had already swept across Valen. At least eighty percent of spellcasters had become members of the Dawn Society. Of the remaining twenty percent, one-tenth had been in the Well of the Sky for so long they hadn’t received the news yet, and the other tenth were underage spellcasters who hadn’t yet grown enough to form contracts.

This meant that out of every ten spellcasters, eight had contributed at least 6 Mana worth of permanent Mana to her.

Mo Lan’s current Mana rank was already higher than many spellcasters who had spent years cultivating in the Well of the Sky.

Unfortunately, due to Valen’s restrictions, even with dragon-tongue magic, she could only invest 9,999 Mana per cast. The rest could only be used to extend the spell’s duration, providing no increase in effectiveness.

Fortunately, dragon-tongue magic was naturally more destructive, and its final effect was slightly better than Sorceress Magic or mage magic with the same investment — though only marginally so.

Valen’s restrictions were like shackles placed upon every powerhouse whose strength exceeded Peak level, limiting their destructive power to a certain range.

This meant that within Valen, Beyond Peak level powerhouses found it very difficult to quickly determine a victor, and could only fight wars of attrition.

This both protected Valen’s powerhouses and protected the world itself.

However, this didn’t mean these dragon-tongue spells offered little to her overall strength. Quite the opposite — these dragon-tongue spells were an enormous boost!

The moment she entered the Well of the Sky, she would be able to unleash dragon-tongue magic at a strength matching her current Mana rank, truly converting her Mana rank advantage into combat power.

This was something Witch Magic — which required sustained practice to raise magic levels and thereby improve spell effectiveness — and mage magic — which required constructing more advanced spell structures to improve effectiveness — simply couldn’t match.

Especially given that Lady Anita’s situation was unclear and Firework Blast could no longer be used, dragon-tongue magic would greatly improve her survival capabilities after entering the Well of the Sky.

Mo Lan had always worried that the situation inside the Well of the Sky was uncertain, and that with Beyond Peak powerhouses everywhere, she would struggle at every turn.

This worry was largely dispelled after learning these three young dragon stage dragon-tongue spells.

After all, even the most poorly talented dragon could surpass Peak level upon entering the adult dragon stage, gaining the ability to enter the Well of the Sky. Those with better talent could surpass Peak level while still in the young dragon stage.

Young dragon stage dragon-tongue magic was already more than lethal enough inside the Well of the Sky, to say nothing of adult dragon stage dragon-tongue magic.

Many dragons used adult dragon stage dragon-tongue magic for their entire lives.

As for the ancient dragon stage, elder dragon stage, and primordial dragon stage that came after adult dragon — while corresponding dragon-tongue magic existed for each, very few dragons ever had the qualifications to learn and use them.
