Chapter 576 – Collecting All the Magic
by spirapiraAfter Benedict, over the next two days, all the dragon guests who came calling were Beyond Peak level adult dragons.
Not knowing whether they had actually visited the Well of the Sky or not, Mo Lan simply used Culinary Magic to prepare dishes and entertain them honestly.
They seemed to genuinely be visiting Delicacy Island for leisure, collecting some new books along the way, without doing anything out of the ordinary.
In her spare time, Mo Lan organized the inherited memories she had obtained from Igniwa and Benedict.
After all, only powerful dragons had the opportunity to pass down their experiences in the form of inherited memories.
Beyond the dragon-tongue magic portions, the other content in the Dragon inherited memories was also well worth studying.
Later, when blue Dragon Euphemia and white Dragon Daphniell came to visit, Mo Lan took the opportunity to obtain the blue Dragon and white Dragon dragon-tongue magic.
After that, the young dragons with appointments at Mo Lan’s place only had adult dragon bloodlines.
In less than half a month, Mo Lan’s {Knowledge Card – Dragon-Tongue Magic Study Notes} had been updated to “10” — all ten types of dragon-tongue magic from the chromatic Dragons and metallic Dragons had been fully collected.
However, only the red Dragon’s dragon-tongue magic had been collected up to the elder dragon stage. The blue Dragon, green Dragon, and white Dragon collections reached the ancient dragon stage, while all the others only went up to the adult dragon stage.
Added together, that came to a total of seventy-five dragon-tongue magic spells.
By this point, Mo Lan — the Five-Star Chef who had mastered the Dragon palate — was gradually becoming famous on Dragon Isle.
Every dragon who had visited her had nothing but praise for the dishes she prepared.
After collecting all ten types of Dragon dragon-tongue magic, Mo Lan picked an evening to invite Vasida and Iris, who was also on Delicacy Island, over for a late-night snack.
During this period, she had been busy entertaining dragons and copying inherited memories, and hadn’t had a proper get-together with them.
Now that the dragon-tongue magic collection was complete, a weight had been lifted from Mo Lan’s heart. It was the perfect time for a reunion.
“I finally get to see you!”
Iris circled around Mo Lan. “You’re still the same as when we were at the Academy — you haven’t changed at all!”
“You too… hmm, you seem to have filled out a little?” Mo Lan had originally wanted to say she hadn’t changed either, but looking at her round cheeks and obvious double chin, the words shifted on their way out.
“Oh, come on! There’s just too much good food on Delicacy Island! Every day I’m either researching cuisine myself or going to eat other chefs’ signature dishes. It all revolves around eating — how could I not gain weight?
But then again, which Culinary Witch who specializes in Culinary Magic doesn’t carry a little extra weight?
These are the marks that fine cuisine has left on my body — they’re precious!”
Iris was quite optimistic about her slightly plumper figure, but was rather worried about Mo Lan and Vasida’s builds:
“You two, on the other hand — one of you spars with dragons every day and comes back covered in injuries half the time, while the other has built the Dawn Society into a massive organization within just ten years of graduating, and has even trained all her Witch Magic to Peak level. Have neither of you been eating properly?
You look like you’ve only grown taller but are still as thin as you were back at the Academy!”
“I’ve put on weight too! It’s just muscle!” Vasida rolled up her sleeves and showed off her sleek muscle definition. “And you of all people should know me — I eat more than anyone. I can’t stand being the slightest bit hungry!”
Iris recalled Vasida’s exploits back in the day. “I suppose that’s true. What about you then, Moira? You have no idea how surprised I was when the Status Card showed ‘can display progress for all Witch Magic levels below Peak level’! How hard must you have worked to progress that fast? Still grinding even after graduation — don’t you get tired?”
Mo Lan shook her head and instead recommended the mage meditation technique to her. “One session of meditation and all your fatigue vanishes! You deserve to have it!”
Iris waved her hands in refusal. “You really are the same as before — the same relentless overachiever!”
The three of them chatted as they ate.
From their experiences over the years, the conversation drifted to their plans for the future.
“What? You’re planning to leave Dragon Isle?” Vasida asked in surprise. “You’ve only been here for half a month!”
“I still need to finish all the current appointments before I go. Probably by the end of the month,” Mo Lan said.
“I’ve already gotten my hands on all ten types of Dragon dragon-tongue magic. There’s not much more to gain by staying here.”
Of the Dragon islands, only Delicacy Island was open to outsiders. Showing up uninvited to any of the other islands would only get you treated as an enemy trespassing on their territory.
Mo Lan had little interest in the treasures inside dragon lairs either, so she naturally had no plans to visit other Dragon islands.
As for Delicacy Island itself, there was even less to hold her attention.
She loved good food, but Earth’s cuisine was already enough to satisfy her appetite. There was no need to waste more time here.
“Won’t you stay a bit longer to see if you might encounter dragons with higher-tier bloodlines and get more complete dragon-tongue magic inherited memories?” Vasida asked. “You’ve only collected up to the adult dragon stage for many of them, right?”
“I’d like to, but the chances are just too slim.”
Mo Lan said, “As powerful as the Dragon race is, their birth rate is even lower than Witches’.
“I’d estimate that there might not even be a hundred underage dragons on all of Dragon Isle. Young dragons are even rarer.
“Among those, the ones with bloodline strength beyond adult dragon are rarer still.
“Running into four young dragons with ancient dragon or higher bloodlines this time was already an unexpected stroke of luck. Who knows how long it would take to find more.
“Rather than continuing to wait on Delicacy Island, it’s better to stop here for now and come back later when my Psychic Magic is stronger. Then I can seek out dragons in the Well of the Sky for ancient dragon, elder dragon, or even primordial dragon stage dragon-tongue magic inherited memories.
“Dragons born with ancient dragon or higher bloodlines are exceedingly rare, but there are plenty who have gained opportunities to upgrade their bloodlines after birth.”
“Moira is right. Dragon bloodlines are declining, and there really aren’t many underage dragons. Practically all the adolescent dragons and young dragons have already visited Delicacy Island.
“As far as I know, there’s only one red Dragon with an innate elder dragon bloodline among the underage dragons. Additionally, the green Dragon, blue Dragon, and white Dragon clans each have one underage dragon with an ancient dragon bloodline.
“Beyond that, I’ve only heard that a brass Dragon with an innate ancient dragon bloodline was born last year.
“If you want to find more young dragons with ancient dragon or higher bloodlines, you’d probably have to wait many years.”
Iris was genuinely committed to long-term development on Dragon Isle, so she had investigated Dragon affairs more thoroughly than Vasida.
Vasida understood the reasoning, but still felt reluctant to let go. “So where are you headed next?”
Mo Lan shook her head. She would decide after she had finished receiving all her booked dragon guests.
She had originally planned to arrange her magical study journey according to geographical proximity.
But after learning dragon-tongue magic, she had begun to waver slightly.
Every magical race in Valen had its own unique system of magic.
Mo Lan had previously believed that each race’s magical system had its own strengths, all worth studying and learning from.
Now, however, she was beginning to feel that magical systems also differed in quality and power.
