Chapter 671 – Dreamweaver World 9
by spirapiraAfter several days of obsessive research with barely any rest, Mo Lan finally gained a preliminary understanding of the dream realm.
When night fell on “Sina’s” fifteenth birthday, she carefully inspected the defensive magic formations on the doors and windows, then lay flat on her brand-new bed.
Considering that her body’s sleep requirements were very low and she hadn’t slept in a long time, Mo Lan worried she might have difficulty falling asleep. She had specially crafted a high-quality purple dreamstone necklace to guide her quickly into a deep sleep state and into the dream realm.
As the night deepened, the sky darkened, and the clouds took on a pink hue, Mo Lan suddenly realized she had lost control of her body.
The sensation was somewhat similar to what was known in Earth folklore as “sleep paralysis.” Her consciousness was abnormally clear—she could even distinctly hear the faint sound of Zhizhi’s paw pads brushing against the floor as she patrolled beside the bed—yet her eyelids felt heavy as lead, and she couldn’t move a single finger.
At the same time, a transformation was occurring within her mental sea. Her normally calm psychic power had taken on a dreamy pink halo, just like the Dreamweaver World at night.
The Key of Dreams that had arrived in her mental sea along with the Dream-Eating Tapir’s knowledge began spinning rapidly, gradually transforming into a vortex-shaped portal.
As the portal opened, a strange yet inexplicably familiar energy was drawn out from the depths of her mental sea, merging and converging with her psychic power, ultimately condensing into a sphere that radiated a soft glow.
The instant the light sphere took form, Mo Lan’s consciousness suddenly gained an entirely new perspective—the perspective of the light sphere.
At the same time, she completely lost all sensation of her physical body. The sleep paralysis-like feeling vanished, and she became the light sphere.
“This isn’t right…” Mo Lan murmured to herself internally.
She had spent all those days poring over the dream realm forums, reading countless copies of 《Dream Entry Guides》, and had even spent her last Federation coins to purchase the officially published electronic edition of 《Dream Realm Encyclopedia》. Yet she had never seen a single sentence mentioning that entering the dream realm required going through such a process.
People in the Dreamweaver World simply fell asleep and entered the dream realm. Even first-time users would go directly to the character creation interface—there was never supposed to be a stage where one’s consciousness transformed into a light sphere.
Before she could figure out what was going on, the scene before her changed dramatically.
The portal conjured by the Key of Dreams rapidly expanded before her “eyes,” rushing toward her. At the same time, she felt a pulling force.
The next second, she was inside the portal.
An overwhelming tide of pink energy filled her entire field of vision. When the light faded, a familiar full-length mirror appeared before her.
Seeing this mirror, Mo Lan breathed a sigh of relief.
It matched perfectly! This mirror was identical to the pictures of the “Appearance Adjustment Mirror” she had seen on the forums—an oval mirror with dark purple vines and pink flowers carved along its edges.
Typically, when people from the Dreamweaver World first entered the dream realm, they would arrive before this mirror. The mirror would reflect their appearance, and then they could use the metal scroll wheels on the side to make minor adjustments on that basis, establishing their initial appearance in the dream realm.
However, when Mo Lan approached the mirror and peered into it, she saw two figures reflected within.
The Appearance Adjustment Mirror was simultaneously displaying two completely different figures—yet another anomaly never mentioned in any documentation!
Moreover, neither of the two figures looked like her “Sina” disguise, nor like the appearance she had assumed when coming to the Dreamweaver World.
The figure on the left was her most familiar appearance from the world of Valen—waist-length purple curls cascading down like seaweed, with deep violet eyes that were profound and mysterious.
The figure on the right was her appearance as an Earth human—long black hair, jet-black eyes, without any characteristics of a magical race.
Both figures wore a simple white cotton nightgown, with a matching set of cotton camisole and shorts underneath.
This outfit at least matched the descriptions she had read on the forums—all women entering the dream realm wore this same initial outfit.
“What is this? Choose-your-soul, pick one of two?” Mo Lan circled the mirror, carefully examining every detail.
She quickly noticed two gemstone buttons embedded side by side in the mirror’s base—one violet-colored, one ink-black. These, too, were absent from anyone else’s mirrors.
She tentatively touched the violet button. The purple-haired Sorceress in the mirror immediately stepped forward, while the black-haired human figure retreated to the background, becoming semi-transparent.
When she pressed the black button, the opposite occurred.
There was no explanatory text between the two buttons, but their function was self-evident.
“Choose my base form, is it?”
Mo Lan fell into brief contemplation.
In theory, choosing the Earth human body might better conceal her identity—black hair and black eyes were fairly similar to the default human appearance in the Dreamweaver World.
But she quickly dismissed this idea. One of the primary purposes of entering the dream realm was to re-cultivate the magic she had already mastered back to Third Rank under this world’s rules.
What could be more suitable for casting spells than using the body she was most familiar with?
Furthermore, who knew whether using human Mo Lan’s appearance might affect her ability to wield Sorceress Mo Lan’s magic in the dream realm? Normally, abilities mastered in the real world could be brought into and used in the dream realm—only physical items couldn’t be brought in.
Meanwhile, abilities and items obtained in the dream realm could all be brought to the real world through the Fruit of Materialization.
But what if something unexpected happened?
From the moment Mo Lan had fallen asleep today, quite a few unexpected things had already occurred.
“You’re the one.” Mo Lan decided to play it safe and firmly pressed the violet button.
The Sorceress figure in the mirror stepped out before her, while the human figure faded completely, vanishing into the mirror.
As the selection was confirmed, the metal scroll wheels on the side emitted a soft clicking sound.
The scroll wheels, previously fixed and immovable, could now be adjusted.
Mo Lan knew that what came next was the standard facial fine-tuning stage.
According to the forum guides, most people would make some modifications here—raising the bridge of their nose, changing their hair color, or slightly adjusting their facial proportions—trying to differentiate their dream realm self from their real-world self to prevent others from tracking down their real-world identity through their appearance.
Mo Lan had no intention of making any changes. After all, nobody here knew her. She could simply treat it as “Sina” having fine-tuned her appearance into “Mo Lan’s” look.
After she pressed the scroll wheel to confirm, the full-length mirror vanished. By now, she had transformed from the light sphere into the purple-haired, violet-eyed Sorceress Mo Lan.
What appeared next was a light screen similar to a communication watch projection.

“Mo Lan.” Mo Lan spoke her own name in Dreamweaver Federation language.
