Chapter 850 – The Power of Heart Light
by spirapiraThe presence of a certain magical energy within the body before even beginning magical cultivation was the hallmark of a magical bloodline.
The White Crystal People very likely possessed a magical bloodline related to light-element force.
“The Holy Feather Stones that Angels use can precisely detect the amount of light-element energy stored in the body…” Mo Lan murmured thoughtfully.
But the Holy Feather Stones were designed entirely for the Angel race, with a very high testing threshold. If one’s light-element force wasn’t sufficient, the Holy Feather Stone probably wouldn’t even glow.
Considering that future explorations of unknown worlds would very likely involve encounters with all manner of peculiar races, similar needs would certainly not be uncommon.
Mo Lan simply decided to design and create a more comprehensive talent detection instrument herself!
The relevant knowledge, materials, and Alchemy Magic proficiency were all well within her means. She didn’t even need to make it herself — she simply summoned the Book of Cards, invested some disposable Mana, and a card meeting her requirements appeared in the card slot.
{Comprehensive Magical Talent Testing Device}
【Function: Can perform a thorough magical talent assessment on living beings, covering natural elemental affinity, initial magical energy type and reserves, and other parameters. Testing is conducted through skin contact, tissue analysis, blood sample examination, micro-light scanning, and various other methods. Test results can be printed directly.】
Mo Lan drew the card and manifested it. A silver-white columnar instrument appeared before her. Its front face was inlaid with a Crystal display screen, and from one side extended a detection platform for placing an arm. Several probe heads with different functions hovered above the platform.
Her gaze turned to the row of coffins outside the circular crystal dwelling, and she carried the instrument over.
A few minutes later, twelve test reports had been printed out.
Mo Lan quickly flipped through the reports.
“Subject: Xinhen
Natural Elemental Affinity: Light-element affinity rated Advanced. All other elemental affinities are zero, with particular rejection of dark-element force.
Initial Magical Energy: Initial psychic power of 25 Mana. An additional unknown energy is present, which testing indicates bears extremely high similarity to both light-element force and psychic power. It is very likely a cognate energy, with initial reserves of 50 Mana.”
“Subject: Yaotong
Natural Elemental Affinity: Light-element affinity rated Advanced. All other elemental affinities are zero, with particular rejection of dark-element force.
Initial Magical Energy: Initial psychic power of 18 Mana. An additional unknown energy is present, which testing indicates bears extremely high similarity to both light-element force and psychic power. It is very likely a cognate energy, with initial reserves of 42 Mana.”
“Subject: Jingchen
Natural Elemental Affinity: Light-element affinity rated Advanced. All other elemental affinities are zero, with particular rejection of dark-element force.
Initial Magical Energy: Initial psychic power of 21 Mana. An additional unknown energy is present, which testing indicates bears extremely high similarity to both light-element force and psychic power. It is very likely a cognate energy, with initial reserves of 40 Mana.”
“Subject: Yingyu
Natural Elemental Affinity: Light-element affinity rated Advanced. All other elemental affinities are zero, with particular rejection of dark-element force.
Initial Magical Energy: Initial psychic power of 20 Mana. An additional unknown energy is present, which testing indicates bears extremely high similarity to both light-element force and psychic power. It is very likely a cognate energy, with initial reserves of 45 Mana.”
……
A flicker of surprise appeared in Mo Lan’s eyes. The results across all twelve reports were remarkably consistent.
Light-element affinity uniformly reached “Advanced.” Initial psychic power, when converted to Mana units, clustered between 15 and 25 Mana, while that unique unknown energy had reserves that consistently fell within the range of 40 to 50 Mana.
“This talent… is not just decent — it’s almost absurdly good,” she murmured to herself, her fingertip unconsciously tapping against the reports.
One had to understand that White Crystal Star was currently only a zero-tier world. A world’s tier itself imposed an invisible limitation and shackle on the magical talent of its native intelligent races.
Typically, at least eighty percent of spellcasters would be constrained by this their entire lives, unable to reach that world’s upper limit.
However, the potential displayed by these twelve samples meant that even if White Crystal Star were to advance to a tier-four world in the future, they could — barring accidents — easily break through the shackles of the world’s tier and reach even higher levels.
“If this isn’t an anomaly, but rather the universal talent of the entire White Crystal People…” Mo Lan shook her head. “Then the magical potential inherent in the White Crystal People race is enough to propel White Crystal Star rapidly to tier four, or even tier five!”
Mo Lan was more inclined to believe this was the deliberate work of White Crystal Star’s world consciousness.
Generally speaking, the overall magical potential of a world’s intelligent races increased gradually alongside the strengthening of the world’s origin.
Back when Valen’s world consciousness had been on the brink of peril, the awakened Witches were not only few in number but generally mediocre in talent. No human had ever appeared with initial psychic power strong enough to manipulate natural elements.
It was only later, as the arrival of otherworldly magical races introduced new magical bloodlines and Valen’s intelligent races grew increasingly diverse, that the overall supernatural level began to rise significantly. Only then did humans with exceptionally high initial psychic power emerge, leading to the discovery of the path of wielding magic through psychic power. The overall talent level of Witches also improved dramatically, and Sorceresses who could condense and control Manifested Gifts even began to appear.
Mo Lan estimated that the world consciousness of White Crystal Star was very likely attempting to save itself, deliberately guiding individuals with particularly outstanding magical talent from the population toward her through seemingly ‘coincidental’ means.
This would be easy enough to verify — she would just need to test more White Crystal People’s talents later.
For now, the most important thing was figuring out exactly what the magical energy inside these White Crystal People actually was.
Based on the test results, it appeared to be an energy similar to both light-element force and psychic power.
It was not, however, the Holy Light wielded by Valen’s Angel race.
Mo Lan tentatively named it “Heart Light.”
This Heart Light possessed characteristics of both light-element force and psychic power, which inevitably reminded her of Mana and magical power.
Mana and magical power had extremely high inclusivity, sharing the characteristics of all magical energies while also being convertible into every type of magical energy. The only difference was that Mana’s potency far exceeded that of magical power.
Heart Light was perhaps a type of magical energy capable of encompassing both light-element force and psychic power.
Mo Lan channeled her Mana, converting it into a wisp of Heart Light, then attempted to convert it once more.
Watching the cluster of light-element force and the cluster of psychic power that had been converted from the Heart Light at her fingertip, she knew her guess was correct.
Heart Light could be readily converted into light-element force and psychic power.
This meant that the White Crystal People should be able to learn both light-element magic and Psychic Magic!
The question of how Heart Light could be cultivated and grown, however, would require careful study.
Even if she couldn’t figure out a method for cultivating Heart Light, with the White Crystal People’s initial psychic power, becoming a light-element mage wouldn’t be much of a problem. It was just that their cultivation potential in terms of psychic power would pale in comparison to Valen’s humans.
