Chapter 852 – Magic Lessons
by spirapiraMo Lan hovered unseen in the air, quietly observing.
She watched as Xinhen’s body radiated a steady golden-white glow. It strode quickly to its other slumbering companions and began trying to wake them.
Just as it gently shook the first companion’s shoulder, Mo Lan stirred her thoughts and silently lifted the corresponding sleeping curse.
The White Crystal Person let out a faint groan, its eyelids trembling before slowly opening.
It first looked at Xinhen in bewilderment, then was utterly stunned by the dramatic transformation of its surroundings — the warm radiance of the enormous light orb bathing the valley, the white crystal trees with plump, ready-to-drip premium light liquid hanging from their leaf tips.
“This… this is…” The faint glow within its body flickered violently with shock.
“It’s the Light-Gathering Fairy! She bestowed a miracle upon us!” Xinhen excitedly helped it up, pointing to the enormous light orb in the sky. “Though the Fairy has already departed, she left us that. The Fairy said that once we’ve nursed ourselves back to health and repaired our home, she will teach us Light Magic! Then we won’t need to overdraw our emotional energy to maintain the supplemental lighting equipment — we’ll be able to grow high-yield white crystal trees on our own!”
Only after Xinhen’s explanation did this White Crystal Person realize that the Light-Gathering Fairy it had seen before losing consciousness was real. Hope blazed like the fiercest of flames, igniting within it instantly.
It struggled to its feet, and the dim glow within its body actually began to take on a faint golden-pink hue.
“My name is Jingchen.”
The two immediately split up to wake the others.
Each time Xinhen or Jingchen touched a sleeping figure, Mo Lan simultaneously lifted the curse from atop her invisible flying carpet.
One by one, the White Crystal People awoke from their despairing slumber. Every pair of newly opened eyes met with fresh astonishment, every face written over with incredulous elation.
Before long, all twelve White Crystal People had gathered together.
They gazed up at the enormous light orb in the sky, recalling the image of the Light-Gathering Fairy descending from above. No one knew who started it first, but low, intermittent sobs began to fill the air.
“Let us first follow the Fairy’s guidance.”
Xinhen was the first to suppress its inner excitement, organizing everyone with a trembling yet resolute voice. “Go collect the light liquid, restore our bodies, and then… rebuild this place!”
Its proposal was met with unanimous agreement.
They approached the white crystal trees laden with light liquid with the utmost care, receiving the precious fluid with the most reverent of gestures.
As the premium light liquid flowed down their throats and the refined essence of light elements rapidly nourished their depleted bodies, many let out sighs of satisfaction. Their forms grew visibly stronger, and the numerous chips and cracks that had marred their surfaces healed completely.
Then they began clearing out the dilapidated crystal houses and moving the scattered crystal stones.
Though their bodies were still weak, an unprecedented fire burned in every White Crystal Person’s eyes.
From time to time, they would look up at the sky in unspoken unison, gazing at the enormous life-giving light orb above the valley — and longing for the return of the “Light-Gathering Fairy” who had promised to come back.
Mo Lan, invisible in the air above, watched the scene with satisfaction.
Once these White Crystal People had repaired the valley’s crystal houses with their own hands, it would be time for her to return as the “Light-Gathering Fairy” and truly begin teaching them magic. When that time came, all of this anticipation would transform into motivation for learning.
Over the days that followed, the White Crystal People threw themselves into building their new home with astonishing enthusiasm.
Nourished by abundant light liquid, their once-fragile bodies grew stronger by the day, and the faint glow flowing within them became bright and steady.
Xinhen, whom Mo Lan had awakened first precisely for its outstanding organizational abilities, naturally assumed the role of leader among them all. Following the instructions Mo Lan had left behind, it coordinated its companions in carrying out their work in an orderly fashion.
Some White Crystal People were assigned to collect light liquid, while others focused on repairing the dwellings.
Using crystal stone materials scattered around the farm and branches from the white crystal trees, they not only restored the original round crystal houses but expanded upon them.
Xinhen specifically directed everyone to build a simple altar at the highest point on the hillside they could reach. Beside the altar, they also constructed a crystal pool for storing light liquid. After each day’s labor, they would gather here to pray to the Light-Gathering Fairy before drinking the light liquid.
By the twentieth day, the entire farm had been completely transformed. Neat crystal houses lined the hillside, each one emanating a warm, gentle glow. Ample reserves of light liquid were properly stored in specially made crystal stone vessels — enough for everyone to use for several months.
That evening, as the White Crystal People finished their day’s work and gathered before the altar for their daily expression of gratitude, a familiar radiance suddenly blazed across the sky.
The “Light-Gathering Fairy” sat upon a shimmering white crystal tree leaf, descending once more just as she had in their memories.
This time, looking down at the revitalized White Crystal People below, she wore an expression of approval.
“You have done well.” Her clear psychic message swept across the entire farm. “Now, it is time to begin learning Light Magic.”
Xinhen led everyone in a respectful bow. The glow within each White Crystal Person flickered with anticipation born of excitement.
“First, you must understand what magic is…” With a wave of her hand, twelve copies of 《Basic Principles of Magic》, carefully written in the White Crystal language, drifted gently down into each White Crystal Person’s hands.
These books were ones she had personally authored in her spare time over these past days.
Thanks to the mature magical theory systems developed by the Witches and mages of Valen serving as a foundation, the compilation had gone fairly smoothly.
The content was written in accessible, easy-to-understand language, starting from the most fundamental concepts. However, when it came to magical disciplines, it was not exhaustive — other systems of magic received only brief introductions, with the focus placed squarely on light-element magic and Psychic Magic, the two types most aligned with the White Crystal People’s innate talents and the ones they would inevitably encounter most frequently in the future.
Regarding magical energy, beyond detailed explanations of the properties of light-element force and psychic power, Mo Lan had specifically dedicated a section to their innate “Heart Light” — “…Heart Light can freely convert into light-element force and psychic power. It is also the magical energy that all White Crystal People must channel whenever they cast magic…”
To aid their understanding, she briefly activated Witch Sight for all the White Crystal People.
In an instant, the world was utterly transformed before their “eyes.”
They clearly “saw” the surging, liquid-sun-like light-element force churning within the suspended light orb; observed the vibrant wood elemental force and power of life swirling around the white crystal trees; perceived the steady, weighty earth elemental force deep beneath their feet; and beheld the warm, active halos of “Heart Light” glowing within each other’s bodies…
This firsthand experience gave them a clear understanding of magical energy — especially their own Heart Light and the light-element force in the world around them.
