Chapter 859 – Unknown Star Region
by spirapiraAs time passed, knowledge related to emotional energy gradually faded into obscurity on White Crystal Star, becoming thoroughly lost to history.
Mo Lan, on the other hand, was still inside the Witch’s home, enthusiastically studying an emotional collector she held in her hands.
The emergence of this device had undoubtedly opened Pandora’s box for the White Crystal People, who at the time had no other energy pathways available to them—a curse rather than a blessing. But for the ever-curious Mo Lan, the technical concepts contained within held considerable research value.
Emotional energy, willpower, psychic power, psychic force… tracing them all back to their roots, they were essentially different variants or manifestations of soul energy.
She had considerable experience with the other forms of energy, but emotional energy was something she had only briefly encountered while studying Angel holy light magic.
Yet even Angels could not extract their own emotions like commodities the way White Crystal People could, sealing them in containers to serve as an energy source.
This unique extraction and storage technology, even if it had nothing to do with Magic, was enough to pique her intense interest.
However, when she truly delved deep into studying its principles, she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of disappointment.
The White Crystal People’s emotional energy technology lacked universal applicability.
The reason emotional energy could be extracted and stored was largely dependent on the White Crystal People’s unique, semi-crystallized bodies. For any other race, this precise system would be difficult to operate effectively.
Mo Lan set down the collector in disappointment and stopped dwelling on it.
Just at that moment, a faint but clear ripple of consciousness gently brushed against her perception.
“Finally… recovered?” Mo Lan’s thoughts stirred, and a knowing smile appeared on her face.
She pushed open the door and once again appeared high above White Crystal Star, seated on her flying carpet.
The moment she emerged, a pure and warm wave of joy and gratitude originating from the planet itself enveloped her.
Mo Lan raised an eyebrow in mild surprise, carefully sensing this consciousness. “It’s already advanced to a first-level world?”
As if to answer her question, a concentrated yet gentle beam of light—visible only to her—flew up from the earth and shone precisely upon her flying carpet.
When the light faded, two items had appeared on the carpet: a Crystal card and a white crystalline stone.
The moment Mo Lan’s fingertips touched these two objects, all information about them flowed naturally into her mind.
This Crystal card was a world invitation token, far more precious than a mere Realm-friend invitation.
Not only did it grant her the ability to descend upon White Crystal Star at any time with a native identity, it could also generate one permanently valid “White Crystal Star Realm-friend invitation” every ten years.
This meant she could, just like Senior Traci, bestow the “key” to this world upon anyone she approved of.
As for the white crystalline stone, it was the materialization of a portion of White Crystal Star’s source power. The source energy contained within was equivalent to ten million units of Source Mana crystals!
One had to understand—those world quests in the Well of the Sky awarded Source Mana crystals counted in single digits.
A Fourth Rank caster’s total Mana capacity only exceeded ten million.
Mo Lan had sold so many Card Magic techniques, and her current total Mana capacity had only just surpassed one billion.
But now, simply by saving a single world, she had earned ten million Source Mana crystals. Upon use, it could directly increase her total Mana capacity by ten million Mana. No wonder Explorers of Sixth Rank and above all preferred to venture into the universe themselves, seeking out worlds with weak world consciousness to obtain Source Mana crystals!
What’s more, for other Explorers, whether saving a world or extracting its source power, it was a one-time deal. But for Mo Lan, White Crystal Star’s market had already been captured by her Card Magic. As long as a single White Crystal Person was born, they would join the Light-Gathering Society, providing her with at least six Mana in permanent Mana. Little by little, the accumulated returns would surely far exceed ten million Mana.
Her investment had yielded returns far beyond expectations.
Mo Lan could hardly wait to find more endangered and zero-level worlds—saving them while seizing the opportunity to promote her Card Magic.
She bid farewell to the world consciousness and returned to the Witch’s home, entering the main control room.
The Starsea Ark once again transformed into a streak of silver light, following its established course, pushing ever deeper in the direction away from Valen’s known star regions.
After one long-distance spatial jump, in the projection from the rear viewport, the newly reborn White Crystal Star vanished entirely into the vast backdrop of stars.
Before long, the Starsea Ark officially departed the areas that had been repeatedly explored and charted by the senior Witches of Starault Hall—regions with clear star maps.
After entering the unknown star region, not only did every spatial jump require extraordinary caution—requiring advance scans of conditions near the jump endpoint to avoid potentially dense meteorite belts, hidden spatial turbulence, nests of certain void creatures that fed on stellar energy, and the occasional energy storms whose rampaging paths needed to be skirted—but they also needed to locate and record nearby safe and stable spatial jump points.
This served the dual purpose of facilitating the return journey and charting a safe navigation star map for this region.
Every Witch who joined Starault Hall, while enjoying the star maps freely provided by other members, was also expected to explore and map safe jump routes during their travels, making things easier for other Witches who might come here in the future.
For this reason, the Starsea Ark’s forward speed had to be drastically reduced. Setting a course and letting the Ark proceed automatically, as they had done before, was no longer feasible.
And it was at this point that the little skeleton Clack—who had undergone many years of rigorous pilot training and study, and who knew the control console as intimately as his own bones—finally had his moment to shine!
In the main control room, Clack stared at the control light-screen with absolute concentration, his soul fire flickering with excitement, his finger bones racing across the screen with every tap landing with pinpoint accuracy.
When the detectors warned of a low-intensity, small-scale energy storm near the projected jump destination, he swiftly traced an arc across the defensive control light-screen. The command was issued, and the energy shield around the Ark’s exterior brightened slightly, distributing more evenly, preparing to pass through smoothly with minimal energy consumption.
Beside him, Sentai—serving as the recorder—extended a tree root to tap lightly on the secondary screen, pulling up a detailed energy storm report. At the same time, another thinner root controlled a quill pen, swiftly and fluently recording their recent encounter in the 《Cosmic Travel Log》.
Just then, a red indicator representing a high-energy reaction suddenly flashed in the corner of the main control screen, accompanied by a piercing alarm. A meteorite was hurtling through the void at extremely high speed. The detectors confirmed it contained large quantities of astral meteorite iron.
Though it wasn’t on their current course and posed no threat to the Starsea Ark, astral meteorite iron was an exceedingly rare void material.
