Chapter Index

In an instant, the Starsea Ark’s firepower output surged once again!

Countless Seventh Rank spatial blades, like an enraged swarm of silver hornets, emitted piercing shrieks as they poured down upon the three Dao Ancestors’ utterly defenseless physical bodies with unprecedented density and speed.

The incomparably keen spatial power easily tore through the protective immortal light that had lost its masters’ control and immortal energy replenishment, and began mercilessly ravaging their dao bodies.

Skin split open, tendons and bones snapped, and vast quantities of vital essence began dissipating… Destruction was imminent!

At the very instant before the three Dao Ancestors’ physical bodies were about to completely collapse, among the three, Azure Edge Dao Ancestor Ling Feng — whose primordial spirit was the most resilient and whose sword heart was the purest — was spurred by the tremendous crisis of his body’s impending destruction. Through a near-suicidal secret technique of the Immortal Realm, he forcibly burned a portion of his source primordial spirit, erupting with a burst of incomparably sharp, shackle-severing resolute sword intent!

    “Break… open!”

The psychic shackles forcibly imposed upon his primordial spirit were wrenched apart by the briefest of gaps, torn open through sheer force by this explosive burst purchased at the cost of burning his primordial spirit!

It was this tiny crack that allowed Ling Feng to reclaim control over his body!

He knew that this extraterritorial demon was an expert in primordial spirit attacks — precisely their greatest weakness. If things continued like this, they would only die here.

He didn’t even have time to restore his body that was on the verge of collapse before preparing to flee.

“Trying to leave?” Mo Lan glanced at the dense, overlapping layers of Spatial Lockdowns still continuously generating around them. “It won’t be that easy!”

Dao Ancestor Ling Feng poured every last drop of his remaining immortal energy into his natal sword and unleashed his ultimate technique — Unity of Sword and Self. The sword light blazed brilliantly, carrying an unstoppable resolve as it slammed violently against the Spatial Lockdown!

    “Boom! Crack——!”

The sword light trembled violently. The incomparably keen sword intent was indeed ferocious, instantly tearing through the innermost dozen or so layers of Spatial Lockdown!

The silver-white gridwork shattered layer by layer like fragile glass.

However, for every layer broken through, two more immediately filled the gap behind it. For every two layers torn apart, four more were generated.

New Spatial Lockdowns appeared as if they cost nothing at all, falling over this region of space in endless succession.

Ling Feng felt as though he had fallen into a boundless, viscous web. No matter how he thrashed and charged, he could never reach the web’s edge.

Finally, after smashing through who knew how many layers of lockdown, his immortal energy could no longer sustain the Unity of Sword and Self state.

“Ngh…” Ling Feng let out a stifled groan. The agonizing pain transmitted from both his primordial spirit and physical body, combined with the weakness from excessive immortal energy expenditure, nearly made him black out.

But he forced himself to hold on by a thread, raising his sword once more and slashing wildly at the surrounding Spatial Lockdowns.

No matter how many he cut through, even more Spatial Lockdowns surged in like a tide, trapping him firmly within this prison of void.

He even began ignoring the spatial blades that continuously sliced into his body, concentrating all his power into the sword in his hand, trying to carve open a single gap.

That demon was hiding inside the Verdant Depths Realm — he had no way to attack her. And her eerie, unfathomable primordial spirit control techniques filled him with dread. Other than breaking through space and fleeing, he didn’t know what else he could do.

Just as he was sinking into despair —

“Boom!” “Boom!” From the other side, two dull, muffled explosions rang out in quick succession.

The bodies of Dao Ancestor Mystic Ice and Dao Ancestor Everlasting Spring, already riddled with countless wounds, finally could no longer endure the ceaseless cutting of the endless spatial blades and burst apart with a thunderous blast.

Two primordial spirits, carrying the bewilderment of having only just regained consciousness and overwhelming terror, were forced out of their crumbling bodies, completely exposed in the shelterless void.

Before Dao Ancestor Everlasting Spring could even assess the situation, he felt a pulling force acting upon his primordial spirit — far more domineering and irresistible than the psychic control from before.

“No——!” He only managed to let out a brief cry of horror before his entire primordial spirit was forcibly dragged away. Like a meteor, it plummeted toward the boundary membrane of the Verdant Depths Realm, passing through without the slightest resistance and vanishing within.

Dao Ancestor Mystic Ice witnessed this, and her primordial spirit shook violently. Sensing disaster, she immediately directed her primordial spirit in a desperate flight toward Dao Ancestor Ling Feng, who was still frantically attacking the spatial barriers, hoping to seek one last refuge and join forces.

Unfortunately, what she found was a Ling Feng already at the end of his strength.

At the very instant she was about to reach him, Ling Feng’s body — already on the brink of collapse — finally reached its limit under the dense barrage of attacks. With a resounding “boom,” it followed in the footsteps of his two companions and shattered completely!

Dao Ancestor Mystic Ice didn’t even get to see whether Ling Feng’s primordial spirit had successfully separated from his body before she felt that terrifying force — specifically targeting primordial spirits — seize her like an invisible giant hand, clamping firmly around her primordial spirit!

“Dao Friend Ling Feng!” Her primordial spirit cried out in despair, but nothing could change the outcome. Her entire primordial spirit was dragged away against her will, hurtling toward the boundary membrane of the Verdant Depths Realm.

A mere two breaths later, Dao Ancestor Ling Feng — whose body had just shattered and whose primordial spirit had only just manifested — felt that blood-curdling pulling force descend upon his primordial spirit with unerring precision, clinging to him like a maggot burrowing into bone!

    “Extraterritorial… demon…!”

He let out one final roar of defiant fury, but his struggles were futile. His primordial spirit was likewise forcibly dragged away, vanishing behind the boundary membrane of the Verdant Depths Realm.

The three Dao Ancestor realm primordial spirits caused the psychic power within Mo Lan’s mental sea to surge dramatically once more.

This scene, as perceived through the “eyes” of the Verdant Depths Realm’s world consciousness, evoked an entirely different set of feelings.

It had originally thought Mo Lan was a guileless, easy-to-bully sort. It had planned to exploit her goodwill and freeload knowledge of magic from another world, giving the Verdant Depths Realm’s transcendent practitioners an additional path while making itself stronger in the process. It had even entertained the idea of leveraging her trust to keep her here and replenish some of its lost source power. But it never expected her to produce a contract imbued with the power of rules.

Since freeloading was off the table, it was unwilling to let an outsider harvest the power of its own transcendent practitioners — in its view, that was tantamount to plundering its source power.

It simply hadn’t expected that this person would turn hostile at the drop of a hat and flee faster than anyone, while it was utterly powerless to stop her.

Had the Immortal Realm’s Dao Ancestors not actually come — and three of them at once, no less — it would never have signed that contract that felt like cutting off its own flesh.

Now, watching her defeat the strong despite being the weaker party, personally disposing of three Dao Ancestor realm cultivators without even sparing their primordial spirits — such ruthless, decisive, and frankly terrifying methods — the Verdant Depths Realm’s world consciousness was flooded with boundless regret.

Had it known the Immortal Realm truly had another card to play, had it known this person was kind-faced but cold-hearted, had it known she was this formidable, it would have reined in its own greed!

Then again, it was perhaps fortunate that the contract had been signed. Otherwise, it truly feared this person might turn around and refine it whole!
