Chapter Index

“I wonder… who else might end up like Sylph and me, turned into an Elf baby or a little hatchling dragon because of these invitations, ‘growing up’ all over again in this world?” Mo Lan murmured softly.

There had been five Realm-friend invitations in total — three from the Elf race and two from the Dragons. She and Sylph had each used one, leaving three remaining.

Thinking back to when she had just been born, stuck in an infant’s body, she truly hadn’t adjusted well at first.

But after getting through that period, she actually felt it had been an incomparably precious and irreplaceable experience.

This time, Sylph’s sleep lasted thirty-two years.

A deep, prolonged rumble — as though rising from the very depths of her belly — echoed through the silent dragon’s lair, even causing several nearby gold coins to tremble slightly.

Sylph’s eyes snapped open. Her jade-green slit pupils were hazy with confusion at first, but the very next second, they were completely overtaken by a surging wave of hunger.

    “Hungry… so hungry…”

She let out a muffled groan tinged with a Draconic accent, instinctively opening her mouth to reveal small teeth that were already showing the first hints of sharpness.

Sylph groggily propped herself up. Her limbs felt much stronger than before she had fallen asleep, though they were still somewhat clumsy.

Following her instincts, she crawled to a naturally formed shallow stone basin deep within the lair.

The basin held clear, sweet spring water rich with magical energy. Fine, faintly glowing mineral particles had settled at the bottom, and around the edges of the spring’s source grew several clumps of thick, juicy, dark-green moss that gave off a faint, refreshing fragrance.

Sylph plunged her entire head into the stone basin and gulped down the crisp spring water greedily, her throat producing satisfying gurgling sounds.

The cool, sweet liquid temporarily soothed the dryness in her throat and the burning sensation in her stomach.

Once she had drunk her fill, she extended her tongue, curled up the plump, tender moss growing along the edges, and swallowed it whole.

The moss carried a fresh, herbaceous essence and a rich, gentle magical energy. Upon entering her stomach, it transformed into a warm current that calmed her raging hunger.

Over these years, she had successfully digested the heritage memories of the hatchling dragon stage. Not only had she mastered the basics of dragon-tongue magic, but she had also developed an initial awareness of her own bloodline power.

More importantly, she had learned the art of Transfiguration.

The moment her stomach was full, Sylph excitedly wanted to try Transfiguration right away.

She took a deep breath. The primordial green dragon force within her — now far more active and refined after thirty-two years of dormancy — began to flow and converge according to the ancient rhythms embedded in her heritage memories.

A faint, life-infused emerald glow seeped out from beneath each of her fine scales, enveloping her entire small dragon body.

The glow shifted, contracted, and transformed…

Several minutes later, the glow dissipated.

Sylph couldn’t wait to look down at herself.

The first things that caught her eye were a pair of hands and feet resembling those of a two- or three-year-old human child — fair-skinned, delicate, with a healthy rosy hue.

She wiggled her fingers, then stamped her feet — hmm, quite responsive to control, actually.

    However, looking further down…

A tail covered in fine emerald scales was swaying gently behind her of its own accord, sweeping across the gemstone fragments on the ground with a soft rustling sound.

She reached up to touch the top of her head. Sure enough, a pair of small, curved dragon horns stood pertly among her hair.

There was also something off around her upper back — her wings hadn’t retracted either.

“Short little arms and legs… can’t hide the tail… can’t retract the horns…” Sylph sighed in frustration, unconsciously stamping her foot again.

    “Crack!”

A crisp shattering sound rang out.

Sylph froze, then looked down. Right where she had stomped, an egg-sized gemstone that had been wedged in a crevice between the Crystals on the floor — one that shimmered with a deep blue light — had been cleanly split in two, its cross-section smooth as a mirror.

    “…”

She looked at her own little foot — so pale and soft and utterly unthreatening — then at the two pathetic halves of the gemstone.

After a few seconds of silence, she couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

Well, at least this proved that even with an incomplete Transfiguration, the strength of this body hadn’t been diminished one bit — she was still a bona fide primordial green Dragon!

After laughing, much of her earlier frustration had dissipated.

Sylph immediately wanted to contact Mo Lan and share this “major breakthrough” with her!

【Sylph: Moira, Moira! I’m awake! I slept for… uh, I don’t know how long! But I learned Transfiguration, and also, I accidentally crushed a gemstone in the lair. [image]】

Mo Lan, who had been immersed in her research on Quelariel’s city magic circles, sensed the activity from the Communication Card in her Book of Cards and immediately took it out.

The image showed Sylph sporting a head of unusually colored hair, adorable little dragon horns, and a restlessly swishing tail, with the two pathetic halves of a blue sapphire at her feet.

“Pfft—” Even Mo Lan, usually so composed, couldn’t help but break into a smile.

    She replied immediately.

【Mo Lan: Sylph! Welcome back! After thirty-two years apart, it looks like you’ve gained quite a lot! Your Transfiguration is very successful! Being able to stably maintain a primarily humanoid form on your first attempt while retaining only a few draconic features — that’s already a remarkable achievement for the hatchling dragon stage! Your strength seems to have increased considerably too? As for that gemstone… well, consider it a ‘celebratory firework’ for your successful Transfiguration and growth in power. The one thing a dragon’s lair never lacks is sparkly things, right?】

When Sylph received Mo Lan’s reply, the last traces of gloom from her incomplete Transfiguration vanished entirely.

【Sylph: A celebratory firework… Haha, Moira, you really know how to cheer up a dragon!】

【Mo Lan: How long can you maintain the Transfiguration? How does it feel? Does it help with cultivating plants? While you were sleeping, I tried sending you some Seed Cards — you can study them at your leisure.】

Sylph hurriedly opened her Card Magic interface. When she saw those Seed Cards, her tail began swishing even more enthusiastically.

【Sylph: I see them! So many seeds — thank you, Moira! I shouldn’t be bored for a very long time now!】

Just as she was examining the plant seeds like treasured prizes, Sylph suddenly sensed a powerful energy approaching.

    【Sylph: Gotta go, I think someone’s coming!】

The conversation ended abruptly as Sylph put away both the Communication Card and the Seed Cards.

The next moment, an enormous head covered in dark-green scales slowly peered into the lair.

It was a true adult green Dragon!

The dragon’s gaze swept through like a tangible searchlight, instantly locking onto the tiny figure that looked utterly out of place among the surroundings.

What had been a routine inspection had yielded an unexpected result.

Ysera, the green dragon guardian of the dormant dragon lair, spotted the little one inside and a flicker of surprise crossed her eyes.

After re-examining the other dragon eggs, that surprise transformed into delight — it was a primordial dragon bloodline!
