Chapter 980 – The Radiance Test
by spirapiraChapter 980 – The Radiance Test
The following morning, accompanied by Kairos, Mo Lan arrived at a circular hall situated at the center of the tribal settlement—the sanctuary of the Radiance Clan.
The interior of the sanctuary was spacious and open, its floor polished smooth as a mirror. At its center stood a slightly raised platform.
Carved into the surrounding walls were the images of the Twelve Holy Luminaries worshipped by the Solar Corona Elves—beings who had successfully transcended level 20 and entered the “Divine Realm.”
On the platform, three Solar Corona Elves were already waiting.
In the center stood an elderly woman wearing exquisite Radiant Cleric robes, holding a staff crowned with an enormous sunstone. To her left was a powerfully built Solar Knight clad in golden heavy armor.
Mo Lan had seen portraits of both of them at Alfred’s home.
The one in the center was none other than one of the Radiance Clan’s quasi-divine level Elders—the level-20 Radiant Cleric, Elder Liandel.
Beside her was the level-20 Solar Knight Galvin, who also served as Liandel’s guardian knight and the Knight Commander of the Eternal Radiance Order.
On the far right stood Kairos, who had changed into more formal robes for the occasion.
Mo Lan strode steadily onto the platform and bowed to the three elders. “Good day, Elder Liandel, Knight Commander Galvin, Lord Kairos.”
Galvin studied Mo Lan with an appraising gaze. “Alfred wrote to us saying that in just a few decades, you became both a level-18 Solar Knight and a level-18 Radiant Cleric. I didn’t believe it at first, but now that I see you in person… the radiant force within you is indeed pure and powerful. It doesn’t look like the product of shortcuts.”
“I owe much of it to the heritage Alfred shared with me,” Moira replied modestly.
“Then let us begin! Kairos, activate the Radiance Tester!”
Kairos produced a crystalline instrument and placed it at the center of the platform.
Once activated, a pale golden membrane of light expanded outward from the device, forming a hemispherical field roughly five meters in diameter.
“Step into the center of the field, Moira,” Liandel instructed. “Release the power belonging to both your Radiant Cleric and Solar Knight aspects. Hold nothing back. The Resonance Device will record and analyze the nature of your power, its purity, stability, and degree of affinity with the Radiant Origin.”
Mo Lan did as instructed and stepped into the light membrane.
First came the power of the Radiant Cleric. A gentle golden radiance gradually enveloped her body. It was not blinding, yet it conveyed a sense of comfort and warmth, like winter sunlight.
Inside the Crystal atop the Radiance Tester, the values representing the Radiant Cleric readings climbed rapidly.
A flash of surprise crossed Liandel’s eyes. “Healing proficiency 100%, protective proficiency 100%, strength at level-18 Peak?”
This was already the highest standard a level-18 Radiant Cleric could achieve—and most Radiant Clerics, including Liandel herself, had not yet reached this level even when they broke through to level 19.
Mo Lan then began channeling her second power—the force of the Solar Knight.
Both were forms of radiant force, or rather light-element force. The radiant force wielded by a Radiant Cleric was warm and healing—protective energy, the gentle side of light.
The radiant force wielded by a Solar Knight, however, was searing and keen—punitive energy, the destructive side of light.
The outer layer of the golden radiance surrounding Mo Lan gradually took on a blazing platinum hue, and the light grew sharp and fierce.
Yet these two vastly different forms of radiant force did not conflict. Under Mo Lan’s control, they coexisted in wondrous harmony—the inner layer a warm healing glow, the outer layer a blazing punitive radiance, each independent yet mutually reinforcing.
More data appeared on the Radiance Tester. “Punitive proficiency 100%, destructive proficiency 100%, strength at level-18 Peak… Dual-source coordination 100%, Radiant Origin affinity 100%!”
Those last two readings left all three Solar Corona Elves momentarily stunned.
A dual-source coordination of 100% meant that Mo Lan could perfectly balance the powers of the Radiant Cleric and the Solar Knight—two forces that, while both belonging to the light element, differed significantly in nature and application—allowing them to coexist harmoniously within a single system and even mutually enhance one another.
A Radiant Origin affinity of 100% meant she was supremely attuned to light-element force, and any light-element magic would come easily to her.
Compared to that, the level-18 Peak strength, punitive proficiency, and destructive proficiency of her Solar Knight power hardly seemed noteworthy.
“Unbelievable… and you’re actually a nature Elf!” Knight Commander Galvin murmured. He felt that Mo Lan was more like a Solar Corona Elf than the Solar Corona Elves themselves.
“Such talent is rare indeed, but what is rarer still is that you have cultivated it so well. Only someone who truly understands that the Radiant Cleric’s light and the Solar Knight’s light—healing and punishment, protection and conquest—are all indispensable facets of radiant force could master both paths so thoroughly! In that regard, you are a Solar Corona Elf beyond question!”
The way Liandel looked at Mo Lan had shifted from scrutiny to admiration, and she deliberately overlooked the green hair that so clearly marked Mo Lan as a nature Elf.
Kairos’s attitude toward her had grown warmer as well.
The differentiation of Elves had never been about appearance—it was about magical philosophy. Mo Lan had fully embraced the radiant force, and that made her a Solar Corona Elf.
“Moira, for the second part, please demonstrate the highest-level magic and combat techniques you currently command.”
Mo Lan nodded and took a moment to steady her breathing. Then she began to perform the 9th-tier composite magic that even Alfred had praised without reserve.
Her left palm turned upward as golden holy light began to gather and weave together—this was Holy Light Aegis, a 9th-tier defensive divine art of the Radiant Cleric, capable of forming a barrier of light that could withstand both physical and magical attacks.
At the same time, her right hand clenched into a fist as blazing platinum light burst from between her fingers—this was Searing Rampart, the 9th-tier magical combat technique of the Solar Knight, capable of generating a zone of sustained high-temperature immolation around the caster that scorched anything that drew near.
If these two abilities were simply performed separately, any competent level-18 Radiant Cleric or Solar Knight could manage as much.
But what Mo Lan did next caused all three witnesses to catch their breath.
She slowly brought her hands together.
The golden holy light of Holy Light Aegis and the platinum radiance of Searing Rampart began to… merge.
Not a simple layering, but a true, structural-level fusion.
Holy Light Aegis was imbued with the keenness of Searing Rampart. Searing Rampart was infused with the stability of Holy Light Aegis.
Two entirely different forms of radiant force, under Mo Lan’s masterful manipulation, coalesced into a singular, extraordinary shield.
The main body of the shield shimmered in pale gold, its surface rippling with platinum flames. It sheltered its master while radiating a searing pressure that made one’s heart clench.
At the shield’s edges, the boundary between the guardian light and the scorching flame had blurred, as though the two forces had always been meant to coexist this way.
Kairos’s eyes were filled with admiration. “Moira, would you tell us the name of this magic?”
