Chapter 991 – The High Elf Library
by spirapira“Respect your elders! Don’t you know that? Let this old man go first!” Alfred’s voice carried a note of exasperation — he had been standing a bit farther away earlier and now found himself squeezed to the back!
The scene instantly descended into mild chaos.
The Elves, usually so elegant, composed, and dignified in their bearing, now threw all decorum and propriety to the wind in their eagerness to experience the long-dreamed-of high Elf heritage. They surged toward the Resonance Device, each trying to claim a favorable position.
You shove me, I block you — the atrium was suddenly bustling with commotion.
Mo Lan watched the chaotic scene before her, the amusement in her eyes deepening.
She didn’t intervene, merely waiting patiently at the sharing end.
Eventually, after a brief bout of “competition,” a more or less orderly queue finally took shape.
Viola was first, Celestian second, followed by the other members arranged by strength and the results of their jostling. Alfred, by virtue of his seniority and esteem, secured a position in the front-middle section — the few mid-tier Elves ahead of him absolutely refused to move back.
However, when the heritage memory transmission actually began, they discovered that being at the front or back made essentially no difference.
Viola was the first to receive the heritage. Mere seconds after the Resonance Device activated, it automatically cut off.
Her body trembled slightly, then she opened her eyes and rubbed her temples hard, her lips pressed tight. In a rare display, she didn’t speak immediately. She simply nodded at Mo Lan, then rose and walked silently to the side, bracing herself against the wall, seemingly struggling with all her might to digest the flood of information that had poured in during those few seconds — far beyond the limits of what she had imagined.
When it was Celestian’s turn, he took a deep breath, sat down, and closed his eyes — but likewise, it ended in just a few seconds.
His body swayed as well. He opened his eyes and instinctively raised a hand to rub hard between his brows, his voice filled with disbelief: “This… this is the high Elf heritage memory? The information density is unbelievable! Even with my psychic power, I could only endure it for this long!”
The recipients who followed, whether mid-tier or high-tier, fared much the same.
Each person was forcibly “ejected” after just a few seconds, then stood there rubbing their foreheads, pressing their temples, or staring blankly into space.
“Too… too intense… I feel like my brain just got hit by a star…” A mid-tier Astral Elf slumped to the ground, speaking feebly.
“It felt like it had barely started… and then I got ‘bounced’ right out…” Tobias leaned against the edge of a pool, his gaze unfocused.
Alfred sat in silence for a long while after receiving the heritage before finally speaking: “It seems that in my remaining lifetime, I’ll never be able to receive the full high Elf heritage memories!”
If he didn’t break through to the divine level, he had less than a hundred years of life left.
At this rate of absorption, he wouldn’t be able to take in much of the high Elf heritage memories before he died.
For him, this was deeply regrettable.
The other Elves had somewhat longer lifespans remaining, but they too doubted their psychic power could withstand such an enormous volume of heritage memories. Besides, Mo Lan couldn’t possibly stay at the Place of Convergence forever, sharing the heritage with them. She had already been level 20 when she went to Suramalan over fifty years ago — sooner or later she would break through to the divine level and depart for the Divine Realm.
“Everyone, don’t worry!” Mo Lan swept her gaze across the group.
“Before I went to Suramalan to undergo the bloodline atavism ritual, I already sensed the opportunity to enter the Divine Realm. After receiving the heritage, that feeling became even clearer.
So I stayed in Suramalan and systematically organized the contents of the high Elf heritage memories, then recorded them in the most readable and comprehensible way possible, creating volume after volume of imperishable magic books.
Shortly, I will establish a high Elf Heritage Library at the plaza near the entrance to Suramalan, housing these magic books for any Elf willing to embrace the magical philosophies of all branches to study.
Although your psychic power may not yet be able to withstand the direct impact of receiving heritage memories through the Resonance Device, opening the entrance to Suramalan, entering that library, and reading and studying the heritage content recorded on paper is entirely feasible!
If you wish to copy them for others, that’s also permitted — but the original volumes must remain in the Suramalan library.”
“A library! Heavens! A treasure trove of high Elf knowledge!” Tobias’s cheer nearly blew the roof off the dome, his golden eyes glittering with yearning for high Elf knowledge.
“Once we reach high tier, we can go see it ourselves! Study it ourselves! At our own pace! No more headaches!” Another young Astral Elf pumped his fist excitedly, as though he could hardly wait to break through to high tier in his main class and rush to Suramalan to see it with his own eyes.
“Moira, thank you! Thank you for giving this old fool the chance to see the high Elf heritage with his own eyes!”
High Elves never relied on the magic network to cast spells — their heritage held a fatal attraction for demigods and quasi-gods alike. Alfred suddenly felt a glimmer of hope for achieving divinity.
Celestian took a deep breath, slowly pressing down the surging excitement and awe in his chest: “Lady Moira, the Old Seekers Association — no, the entire Elf race — will forever remember your grace!”
After all, Mo Lan had promised that any Elf who entered the high Elf Library could copy the magic books and take them away. This meant that Elves of every branch, even those who couldn’t enter Suramalan, would have the opportunity to learn the high Elf magic that had been lost in the river of time.
Mo Lan accepted the Elves’ gratitude graciously and smiled.
“Seeing everyone so happy puts my mind at ease. Well then, there’s no time to waste. Everyone should head back and rest first — take time to properly digest the heritage memories you just received. I’ll go to Suramalan now and begin constructing the high Elf Library.”
As she spoke, she summoned the gateway to Suramalan, opened it directly with Elven force, and stepped through.
After Mo Lan had fully digested all the high Elf heritage memories, she had used the Book of Cards to create a {High Elf Library} card.
The library’s main structure and the magic books containing high Elf heritage knowledge were all contained within it.
She had materialized it in advance within the mirror space.
Upon arriving at the plaza near Suramalan’s entrance, she simply brought out the entire high Elf Library.
In the blink of an eye, a library built in the high Elf style stood upon the plaza at Suramalan’s entrance, blending perfectly with its surroundings as though it had always been a part of this place.
All that remained was to replicate the protective magic used in the main city district to safeguard this library as well — she just needed to relax the entry requirements a bit.
